Hey guys just wondering if there is enough of us out there from down this way to try and set up a geelong gathering so that those of us who cant make it to melbourne on a regular basis can still hang out with fellow spinners at least semi regularly.
so if there is people who would be interested just say and we can see what we can all organise.

I had been trying to organise one with Fiendish in the park next to All Saints Tennis Club in Noble St. Newtown...but then I nicked off overseas and have no clue what became of it. however try and sus out Fiendish and see if anything happened there, or alternatively send me a PM and I can put you in touch with some other spinners from Geelong (who are still in the country!)

i know one or two other people who arnt members of HOP who would be interested if there is one already established or if can get one going so any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated.

Bump.
Hey there everyone i was just wondering if there were people in and around Geelong or the surf coast. after a while not spinning am getting back into it again and would really like to be able to spin with others perhaps learn a few things meet other people into spinning. unfortunately i cant really afford to come up to the Melbourne meetings although it would be good.
I thought instead i would try and get one going down here or find if there is one down this way already. that is if there is enough of us here in Geelong and surf coast to have one. Anyone from the local area and surrounds that would be interested ???

Hey i'm back on HOP and unemployed so i can dedicate my self to all things spinny.
If anyone has the gumption to organize a G'long twirl whether its 1 off or weekly i'll be there with bells on and I can even bring a few friends. I managed to get a few work mates and other friends hooked, on the fire moving in a circular motion thing, over the holidays.
Oh bugger it everybody come to my place this friday. I'll put on a barby and some beats , whatta ya rekon?

i wish i had paid more attention to the forums i had started to five up on any one ever signing on from geelong. my partner and i are hoping to get some interest going through the tafe with a lunch time thing next friday 23rd of march however so far not heard of much on wether peoiple would come or not. as for more regular or even one of out of work hours i would live to do something but really just dont know that many people. which is a real pitty living this close to the coast so many photo opportunities.

Unfortunately, I'm so run off my feet with uni and work to make it down to geelong for anything other than the occasional 21st.
Not sure if Geelong will have enough of the right people for a weekly meeting, but it's worth a try. Maybe try putting some flyers up around the place. I'd suggest one at Kite Shop on la trobe tce, as well as in that new age shop in ocean grove and i think there used to be one in barwon heads. uuum, trying to think where else in geelong they sell the gear and are likley to attract the right demograohic. i just think you need to put some fliers up in the right locations and be dedicated to getting it started.

Hello,
We are going to try again to set up something in Geelong. We will be meeting this Saturday night 28th July at around 7pm weather permitting, on the banks of the Barwon River at the end of West Fyans St (neer the boat ramp).
Hope to see some people there.

ahhh yeah i think its where the water pipe towers are, drive to end of west fyans street head down the path there to the boatramp/rotunda and look for flames. we are usually just off to the left of the carpark. anyway pity you cannot make it tonight hopefully some people make it.

My partner Troy and I go down there a bit once or twice a week depending on our days off. we use our Powerisers along the river path during the day. we find its a nice place to spin and practice some of our skills as well and try to make it down there most weekends . as for fire spinning not as often as i would like we are hoping to start something every fortnight depending on if we can get others interested. otherwise we just spin there when we need a fix of Fire.

Something I've seen with people who want to start a regular thing is that it takes commitment to BE there. Moon Pixie turned up every full moon for 9 years to establish and maintain the wonderful Moonfest. Through all sorts of permutations and people coming and going. The Firetricks lads are going through the same thing now at West End here in Bris. Sometimes it doesn't suit you to go down at the time. But if people come down and you're not there, they don't necessarily come back. SO it is good to make the 'regular' thing something you can live with. But if it is not something obvious like full moon, or Thursday.. how will people know WHICH second week, or whatever, it is. Try to collect people's emails or communicate somehow.. a notice in shops or whatever it takes.

So although last week was not the roaring success we were hoping with all those individuals from geelong and surrounds, who love to play with fire turning up for a spin. It was still fun to get together with one or two of our friends and sit by the river with the smell of Kerosene to keep us company. So in the Spirit of things we are going to try again this week same time and same place and same circumstances if its pooring down rain obviously we will forgive people for being a no show. hope to see someone there on saturday

its pooring down rain, growls at geelongs shoddy weather. So not fair. hopefully its stops. if it dosnt perhaps we will just go down and sit in our car ánd wave glowsticks about or something. grrrr rain. anyway if it stops hope to see people there.

Hi all,
so its bveen a fortnight and we are going to try again this saturday night same time around 7pm and same location fyans park, this time we will camp out under the routunda to the right of the boat ramp.
hopefully the weather will hold out and we will see some other people.

I'd LIKE to go to these... but sadly saturday nights get eaten up for me by my melbournite girlfriend... So my weekends are hers, otherwise we'd never see each other.
I've suggested we break up so that I can poi, but she won't hear of it.
Neither of you guys are the guys I saw in Juggleart and later encountered in Kmart, are you? If so, I ended up getting the 5 beat weave and was able to pull it off with fire tonight. ^_^ Split time on the extra beats aren't consistent yet, though.

hey we are the guys from juggleart, glad to hear you got the 5 beat weave, i have to work on speeding one poi up to get the split timeing right too... but we are too busy playing with fire trails atm to concentrate on it.
For everyone interested in a Geelong meet up we have been discussing doing it on another night instead of sat if that would suit other people better. Tues & Thurs are a no for us due to other commitments, so if anyone would like to suggest some times maybe we can get a general vote on a good night for all.
however still gonna be there this sat.

I think that as much as Saturday nights can be difficult with people having other cmomittments, I think it has the advantage of that it isn't a school/work night and therefore people can stick around a bit longer than if they had work/school the next morning.
Due to sporting committments, I'm hoping that I will be down in Geelong more often over the next few weeks (as long as work doesn't roster me on!) so hope to see you down there sometime!

just wanted to post that last night was a beautiful night for spinning, i sit here saying this as it is raining outside however now the weather if getting bette we hope to see more people out spinning.
we will be down the river again, we will set the date as the second saturday of every month, this way people can plan ahead.

Been doing it about 10 months, not great, but I'm going cagey, I've only ever spun with people I've taught!
At a minimum we should be able to work something out during the school/uni holidays?

I'm a lone spinner... but if theres anyone here who wants to turn up to some sort of regular meet with me, monthly or whatever I'd be happy to do so to try get something started...
We could post flyers up in KitePower or something like that.
Even if it starts as an afternoon spin session with socks or whatever, thats fine, since its a little chilly... I just want to spin with someone I haven't taught myself.
I'm 21, male, been doing poi about 10 months or so. I can do a little staff (Very little, my staff doesn't even light) I'll probably invest in some buugeng at some point, I own a set of flowpoi duo and I VERY recently bought a contact juggling ball. (Thats me trying to bribe people into meeting my props if anyone is vaguely interested in seeing/using those) Send me a PM, I really don't care what peoples skill levels are like, I'm not looking for someone who can show me new stuff, even though that'd be a nice bonus, I'm just looking for new people to spin with, preferably someone who is as enthused about poi or another manipulation as I am.
