Hello there everyone on HoP...I am Phae'xorl, and I was just introduced to this great site by a friend of mine who told me about it (he used to come here a good bit I believe...sorry don't know his former screen name). I have been spinning for a month or so, almost think I am ready for fire, but in no huge rush.
Anyway, I just wanted to say hi to everyone.

Thanks for the welcome...I am from the magical land of, (wait for it...) OHIO, USA...okay, maybe not magical, but it is where I am from nonetheless...

So after looking at other introduction posts, I thought I should maybe elaborate on m'self...

I am twenty five years of age...I run audio for a local news station...I enjoy all types of music (on any given day you can find me listening to anything from bluegrass, to death metal, to electronic expiramental noisey stuff)...I love to read (lately I have been on a huge fantasy kick) pretty much anything...I have a beautiful daughter named Fiona...I used to play music as a hobby, but it is a bit hard to find the time anymore what with an infant and all....I love to video tape pretty much anything (I have done weddings, bands, short films etc...)...I have two cats, Schadrach and Jael, and a parakeet named Cyclone Bill...I have broken many bones as I like to play hard...I thouroughly enjoy tattoos and piercings...and finally I am short (5'5.5")

Poi is much more prominent in Europe and Australia than the US. Most US spinners (that go online) use tribe.net. I prefer HoP myself, the info is easier to access and there is more activity.

One thing to keep in mind is that most spinners don't go online. Maybe one in 15 fire people I know use HoP or Tribe. The rest I meet at parks, festivals, parties, clubs etc. If you want to meet a bunch of US fire people, the best place to go is Burning Man or a regional burn (Transformus, Playa del Fuego, Flipside...). Speaking of regional burns, Transformus is right around the corner (July 22-24 weekend) in western NC. Fire spinners from all over the east and as far as California will be there.

Hey thanks mtbeer, I shall check out the other site, however, I think I'll more than likely continue using this site as well...Pretty much everyone seems really friendly, and well, not snooty....Thats the thing that sucks about joining a new site....If you are a noob, most people scoff, and are not always the nicest and helpful....So far, I have not had that expierience at HoP (much to my pleasant surprise)...Anyway, thanks....
Transformus doesn't sound like more than a 5-6 hr drive from me....but, as the parent of an infant daughter, I'm guessin' that I won't be able to make it....thanks for the info though....I really would like to go to Burning Man sometime in the next couple of years...everything I have heard is that it is amazing...

I forgot to mention that I am a huge movie fan....I like stuff from old B horror flicks to weird avant garde, psychedelic stuff, even to some of the Hollywood movies...(although in general I think that Hollywood spends way too much money making movies that are shite....)Here are some examples of movies I DO like:

The Lord of the Rings Trilogy, The Star Wars Sextology, The Planet of the Apes Quintology, Zombie, Run Lola Run, Man Bites Dog, Bad Taste, Dead Alive (in the US, Braindead everywhere else...why? I don't know, I think it's weird to change the title of a film), Life of Brian, Amelie, House of Flying Daggers, Napolian Dynamite, Night of the Living Dead, Lost in Translation, 28 Days Later, Lock Stock....and lots, and lots more.

Well, I suppose I shall put more stuff in my intro thread later...

Ooompa Loompa doompity dee....... *Oompa Loompa's throat explodes in fountain of gore*...gurgle.....

Hey now, five foot, five and a half isn't that sho--....Oh wait, yeah I guess it is....(sorry Mr. Oompa Loompa wink)...I will eventually put some images of my "vertically challengedness" (to be PC biggrin) up on here...It's funny, about half of my friends are around the same height as me, and the rest are all really tall (i.e. average of six foot one or so).

Yes I am using a Drow avatar, the name of a drow I wrote about too in a short story.... To answer your questions, no I don't play Icewind Dale or Neverwinter Nights...Or Baldur's Gate...I DO however, read quite a bit of Forgotten Realms stuff...well, not so much lately, but I have read a good bit...I also used to play a bit of D&D (yes I am quite aware of the geek factor in that biggrin)...

Right now, I am using tennis balls with ropes through them...as far as how good I am? I dunno, not great, but not complete shite either....As far as how I got into it there is a thread I posted in on the subject.....................................but if you are lazy, I have a friend who spins, and I saw him spin and I was captivated.....blah blah blah...

Sorry, I have not read "Pool of Radiance"....Ever read any of Salvatore's stuff? It is my favorite Realms stuff....Or the W.o.t.S.Q.? Great stuff there....I really would like to try Warhammer, I hear good stuff about it (geeky or not)... I am in the process of aquiring poi with tails soon, so I will soon share the joy...

Hey don't feel bad Seye, I know of only one other person in my area who spins....Beyond that there isn't too much going on either in the world of spinning...

Hey, it's not as bad as LARPing...

If you just like painting and modelling, anyway.

Is your avatar Drizzt Do'Urden? Or someone you drew yourself? Love the FR books, Salvatore is good. Need to find more though, now I'm addicted biggrin

Have you read any of the Star Wars novels? Not the crappy Ep 1-3 books, but the ones set after ROTJ... ubbrollsmile

The geeks will take over the world. After all, they're the only ones who know how to use computers wink

After much consideration, I find that the view is worth the asphyxiation.

Sethis: Nah it's not Drizzt, and I wish it was a pic I did, but sadly no...It is a pic I found when I googled Drow images....I wrote a screenplay and therein created the chearacter Phae'xorl. I searched and found this pic and really liked it so I thought I would use it as my avatar....I
f you like the Salvatore books, you should check out the War of the Spider Queen series. All 6 of them are now out and they are an excellent read. Salvatore wrote the basic premise of the story and then handed the actual writing to six other writers. This was a lot cooler than I though it would be as each writer seems to take a liking to different characters and fleshes out different things in the story.
Also you might check out the Liriel Baenre trilogy (I cna't remember what it is called right now) by Elaine Cunningham....Oh, "Windwalker", that's what it is called, the Windwalker trilogy....Very good stuff also...
I have started some Star Wars books, and as much as I love Star Wars, (I have a large Boba Fett tattoo for Yoda's sake!) I just can't get into them...I fully plan to try again though...I really would like to read all of the New Jedi Order stuff....
As far as Larping, I honestly would probably give it a try (even though my wife and all of my friends would seriously make fun of me...with good reason p'raps) but there is not an outlet to do so in my part of the country as far as I know. I'd make a great dwarf biggrin...

F.R.D.: What is a Warhammer 40k collector pray tell?

I jest Star, I jest! ubblolYes the fairies with big weapons are waaaay less geeky than, say collecting star wars action figures (which I am guilty of) or painting D&D figurines (Have been guilty in the past). The thing with painting D&D figurines is, you actually DO kinda play with them redface....
