So here I am again. It's been a while hasn't it. My alto sax initially got a lot of use. Funny isn't it, how a fulltime job takes away all your spare time. Haven't had any time to poi too, apart from Jugglejam on Mondays and the monthly Moonfests. And even then, it somehow seems I tend to play with the stockwhip instead of poi
Another lens has been added to the stable too. A Canon EF-S 10-22 3.5-4.5.. nice and wiide. But it all boils back down to that time issue. Despite having the new lens, I seem to find I'm out taking less pictures.. the folio hasn't been updated in a while, and I'm starting to get the horrible feeling I'm stagnating. Must. Get out of this rut.
If you're my muse and reading this, inspiration needed now.

So what's new! Well.. poi's getting a bit better for one thing. Nice how after poi-ing for a while, you stop hitting yourself senseless. In fact, one might argue how after a certain point, each hit puts more sense into you..
Haven't gone skating or rockclimbing in a bit, but that's ok- life's full of wonderful distractions, and really, you can only do a couple at a time.
University's just wrapped up! Yep. A degree in art & visual culture, television & digital media.. Just waiting for a piece of paper at the moment (yay!). And trying to sort out how Australia will let me live here forever and ever
. Have I mentioned how wonderful it is, you so ought to visit *nudge* Also been getting out the with photography and stuff- a couple of projects to follow up on, blue skies and puffy clouds as far as I can see.
Updates updates. [insert geek] I've updated my camera gear too.. my 20D, 17-85 4-5.6 IS and 580EX now have a 70-200 2.8L IS to play with.. soon too, riding on getting a particular gig, either a 350D and a 24-105 f4 IS, or another 20D.. -grin- [/end geek]

Been taking lots of photos lately. I think there's something intrinsically beautiful in capturing moments- you know how you look at a photo and it brings you back to where you were that day, who you were with, how the air smelt even.. Maybe one day I'll get to exhibit
.. but yeah.. lots of work to be done meantime.
Hmmmm.. yes the world's beautiful today. It's good to have new toys, new moves, new direction.. old friends.. a best friend 
, and enough distractions not to get bored for too long.

I've been exploring this site a bit lately, and have decided everyone seems like a nice bunch- thought it's about time I said hello. Ryan, 24, born in Singapore, but Brisbane Australia has been home to me for the past 3 years.
I love photography, playing the guitar (if one took a picture of me with my guitar, it looks like I'm playing it- does that count?), getting from point A to B on my trusty mountain bike, inline skating and hockey, occasionally rockclimbing, and just being in good company. I'd also like to add poiing to the list when I stop hitting myself senseless.
Irrelevantly, my two favourite words (I've got heaps if anyone's interested) are 'balletic' and 'dulcet'. 'Balletic', unfortunately, isn't a word I'd use to describe anything I can do, and 'dulcet' is a word I haven't dreamt of aspiring towards yet.
Enough for now, don't be strangers!

With regard to sensors, I doubt you could say 'higher quality chip' because it's not really. It depends how you shoot as well- if you're going to be doing significant cropping on your actual shots, you lose the full frame advantage, not to mention the fact that in such a scenario, the 20D's chip will give you a final shot at a higher res. It's not as straightforward as you might suspect.. Took a while for me to get my head around it too.
IS is a superb advantage in low light situations, but not necessarily always better.. in terms of actual MTF charts and optical performance, a steadied non IS lens usually outperforms a steadied IS lens. A good example would probably be the IS and regular versions of the EF 70 200 2.8L.. the non IS version has a lot less pieces of glass in it, so theoretically, less obstacles between the image and your sensor. I suppose it's just like why some people choose to stick with sharp primes instead of walking around with a big fat zoom.
Don't worry too about future gaps in coverage.. besides, the 17-85 doesn't mount on the 5D, you'd preferably with the EF24-105 f4L (which is a great lens per se) should you go full frame, but it's arguably not wide enough on the 20D.
About fps, 3 and 5 is a big difference.. If your subject's doing 4 seconds of motion, you're comparing 12 frames to 20 frames. But then this is also of varying importance depending on what you shoot.. Don't forget buffer size too and the actual filesize of fullframe images too. If you're going to be shooting 3 fps and keeping the mp on the 5D down just so that it doesn't fill the buffer too quickly, you'd be better off on the 20D.
jessops has some info, but don't forget the dpreview side by side and full reviews, the fred miranda forums, as well as potn. Anyway, sounds like you know what you're doing Keep us posted won't ya. It's all exciting!

heya,
have been learning my butt off recently. have got a bunch of new card tricks, am learning to stick the skinny end of a spoon into my nazal cavity (but takes time to remove sneeze reflex) even learnt how to eat glass, but wont, due to tooth enamel removing reasons
i got a new canvas today. its really long and skinny, and im gona start sketching what im gona paint onto it tomrow
have to do a whole bunch of paintings in the next few weeks.
school aint a whole lotta fun, but ive cut out alot of my really bad subjects this year, so theres alot more stuff i actually enjoy, and alot less i dont.
am endeavouring to avoid fights, but it seems there are a couple of people that are making it a bit more difficult than it should be
have had a real good thinking week, and thunk up two magic tricks, and three escapes 
send lots of cuddles to lobster lou for me.

i still feel like i need to sneeze, so i can let myself sneeze, but if i dont want to, i can just hold them back.
hey, i hadnt thought of doing the floating rose. at the moment im gona be doing a blockhead act, followed by my squash racket thing, then ill lay down on glass and if i can take it, have someone stand on top of me. but, if the school wont let me do the third thing (cos of insurance or something) then i may well do the floating rose.

Pink and black are my favorate colours. I got teased the other day when I was hanging up my washing because every thing on the clothes airer was either pink or black or a combination of the 2.
I think if Medusa is feeling home sick that means we brits aren't doing enough to keep her entertained and too busy to even think of home. Don't worry Medusa, come the summer you won't have a day to call your own, what with Falmouth, BJC, EJC, BGG, Manchester/Bristol/Nottingham/Cambridge/etc meets, and all the festivals. You have a summer of fun to look forward to!

Though I've got my graduation ceremony coming up- my robe thing's going to be black and, get this, bright pink. Or new fuschia so they call it..

Pink and black are my favorate colours. I got teased the other day when I was hanging up my washing because every thing on the clothes airer was either pink or black or a combination of the 2.
I think if Medusa is feeling home sick that means we brits aren't doing enough to keep her entertained and too busy to even think of home. Don't worry Medusa, come the summer you won't have a day to call your own, what with Falmouth, BJC, EJC, BGG, Manchester/Bristol/Nottingham/Cambridge/etc meets, and all the festivals.

Nothing much happening here either Ry I am half way through my writing course which is great. I have straight A's so far which I am really happy about.
Haven't been going to the twirling meets as it is too cold, and I am getting over a cold too. Trying to get all my photos off my camera at the moment which is taking forever cause I have sooo many.
Yes marshmallow, roats me over the fire and I turn all gooey! Mmmm....goo.
Yay festivals are good, that's one of the reasons I came over here.
And don't worry Ry you will look gorgeous in pink...make sure photos are taken.

Sub of the day is a 6 inch grilled chicken on white bread, lettuce, tomato, onion, old english cheese, capsicum, carrot, no extra salt or pepper, sweet onion sauce.

Might have to see it to get an idea though. That sounds like a bunch of festivals too. It's so not fair the amount of festivals you guys get to choose from!

Got a ridiculous amount of new photos, and nowhere to put them! The camera's been going a bit crazy lately, what with uberoz as well as a recent shoot. Need. more. storage. Regarding photos at the graduation.. hmm. Well, I suppose if anyone really wanted to come, they could take photos. Am thinking it's going to be a quiet affair. PS. Hope you're keeping your toes, fingers and ears toasty!

Have spent the past three weekends doing touristy stuff, how much fun is that!!! London is great, so many museums and touristy things to see and do!!!
