Hi...I'm Cat, living in Australia and loving twirling...

Just wondering whether any fellow law-abiding Australians can help in regards to the recent total fire bans in Sydney and the restrictions/regulations/fire permits???

Or...if you want to just say hi back, that would be appreciated too! Ta muchly!

hehe...yeah, I have been to Glebe - that's actually where I found my first staff...still faithful too! Worked at Broadway just down the street from it, and you certainly meet some interesting people there!

If fire is banned, it's banned for our sake.
better to glow or UV or comet twirl than to put at risk those whose loving art you are sharing with. peace

Hey, welcome to the board....
I am also Australian, but I live in Victoria....
OK, wanna know about the fire restrictions in Australia? They change in alot of places you go, but if you check out your local fire station, they should be able to answer your questions... but you might want to keep checking with them about any changes when it gets warmer, shouldnt be any problems at the moment though.
Hope that made sense, but yeah, ask your local Fire people.

I can only speak from victorian experience, where fire regulation enforcement is enforced at the local/shire level, which effectively leaves it up to the discretion of the on duty local ranger / shire employee when you are 'caught' wink it is illegal to have a nekkid flame (an genitals for that matter :looks in blair's direction:) in the street in vic. even if you are in a hailstorm.
Australian public liability situtation = dire as in the wake of the HIH meltdown.

If you haven't studied a lawn lately, you don't know *what* you're missing - actually, seeing as my yard consists of concrete, I do find grass rather intriguing....ah yes....all that stalky goodness. biggrin hehe

I think I've been missing out on the Glebe nightlife...are there gatherings every Thursday? And where??? I'm living way out west and gatherings have consisted of people's backyards, and Macquarie Uni...

hey there .. I've always found that heading for the beach and going for it on the sand is always a good way to get away with it in fire bans or high fire danger times ... last time the fire dept came to visit me while I was twirling during a ban (I'm just north of Sydney), seems they wanted a show and told me I'd get in trouble if I stopped ... probably wouldn't try it on a inner city beach though ... too many residents would think you're an approaching bush fire .. also good to avoid areas that have recently had problems with fires, this one I learnt the hard way *L*

good luck !

Duct tape is like the force. It has a dark side and a light side and holds the universe together. The only difference is that "may the force be with you" sounds much better than "may you be covered in duct tape".

Welcome smile

If you apply for a permit, some councils will let you us fire on total fire ban. Other than that, using fire on Total Fire Ban days is a serious offence, especially given the number of horrific bush fires in recent years.
