ok quick question... i cant get hold of any paraffin for this weekend but we've got some lamp oil here at home and i was wondering if that could work as well
(or am i just being blonde on the verge of desperate here?)

paraffin and lamp oil are the same thing...depending on the brand they can have slightly different mixtures, but they should all have relatively the same results.
