Marmite, Vegemite, or Nutella?* dont like nutella never tried the other 2 but i'll say vegimite

im a poi beginer, i was inspired to learn after a trip to thailand last year, ive been practicing on my own for about 8 months (weather dependant since my house has low ceilings and scotland is frickin cold)ive been learning through youtube tutorials and videos i recorded myself while in thailand, without blowing my own trumpet im learning pretty fast, i started using a cheapo set of tennis balls on chains that i picked up in thailand, they broke then i bought a set of led poi from ebay, they broke too so i bought monkey fist profesional poi which ive never lit up yet, they hurt bad when you mess up a move but its good to pratice with several different styles and weights of poi i think,, i mainly practice with sock poi and tennis balls justnow, today i purchased a set of crystal poi from flow toys, cant wait till they arrive, hopefully going to light my first fire poi this summer, not my monkey fists tho, i predict injury if i set fire to them, i'll need to buy a set of cathedrals i think, i absolutely love poi and im so pissed i never discovered it untill i was 33 years old

Mmmmm drugstore...

Vegemite is acceptable for the last answer so you may have some popcorn(Trust me, you'll like the popcorn). Marmite is poison, Nutella is golden.

Welcome!

Some advice, if you will take any, is get something heavier than tennis balls. Try for a weight around 100-160g. (Rice or something similar works well.)

And Nutella is evil since it attracts squirrels. Well done!

@ aston. ive got my proffesional monkey fist poi, they are well heavier than tennis balls, infact they are more like weapons than poi, once i learn a move with my tennis balls i then learn it with my monkey fist poi and also with my light wieght led poi, i think its best to learn every move with various weights.
yeah those monkey fist poi are hardcore, the impact when they hit you is like a hard punch in the face and the chains hurt the skin bad if you mess up a wrist wrap or something, i couldnt see properly out one eye for several hours after a messed up turn resulted in a monkey fist smacking me square in the eye, and dont even get me started on getting a smack in the nuts, i learned pretty quickly to get my moves as perfect as possible before i try them with the monkey fists

HI and welcome to HoP

I felt just the same about discovering poi so late but still grateful I found it at all smile

Yeah. Hence the suggestion. But tennis balls are really light, and meh.

Stalls and such are a lot easier with heavier poi.
