Spin often. Keep your practice poi (preferably sock poi) nearby. Spin while watching TV.

Work on the basics over and over. Don't get discouraged. Things that seem impossible at first will come with practice. (I'm doing things now I never thought possible)

Practice going from one move to another and back. Move your body as part of your practice.

Use your imagination to put different moves together and make them your own.

Check out the on line lessons. I think the one on this site is great, and the one on Domorepoi.com. Also buy a couple DVDs, such as The Encyclo-Poi-dia by Zan, and The Scales of Poi.

Hook up with other people in your area whenever possible and see what they're doing.

Don't quit if you hit yourself in the head or whack yourself in the sack now and then. Just smile and keep spinning.

btw... I'm also in Colorado (Denver/Lakewood).

Feel free to reply if you want to get with a group thing, meet in a park for some practice ideas, or meet other fire freaks.

Lol. that would be great ^_^ but I'm a few hours away and I can't quite drive yet. =P I wish there were more people from where I live that like to spin, but no one even knows what poi is in my part of Colorado. XD
