Oh... and I hear you re: audience. I've had a few goes of a staff, but I whack myself and drop it a lot more than twirl...

There's other NY'ers on here though, so give it a go... I've managed not to cause myself any injuries yet and I'm the clumsiest person I know. eek

Thanks for the Hey!

hehe

So, is that Pogo like "We have met the enemy and he is us"? Or like bounce hopping around?

Still hoping some twirlers, etc. turn up at my local park again this year. I posted to a thread from last summer in the Meet Others section.

Oh, I definately want to do it. devil I love watching it and the first time I saw someone actually doing it with fire, I decided that was going to be my next new skill. Just can't take it up right now, but I'm really happy watching it. I've had some lower back and pelvic damage and want to wait until I get my muscles back in shape before swinging around several pounds of flaming metal from each hand. rolleyes I'll know I'm ready to take this up when I am ready to return to playing ice hockey. That's the gold standard in my house.

Gettin' there. beerchug

It's not the weight, exactly. It is the time. I spend a lot of time each week at the Phys.Therapist, then the exercises, plus I still gotta hold down a job. ubbloco (That last one...don't know. Do I really?)

Anyhow, once I've gotten back into enough shape for giving or receiving a full body check and not caring, then I will spend time learning the spinning.

So, fN. When You Spinning In Nooo Yawk? Can I watch? tongue

I just knew your "Hometown" wasn't "NYC" as advertised. Everybody claims New York but you can always tell those with the birth certificate to back it up. wink

There should be some folks spinning in parks sometime soon but I'm too busy to keep up these days. I'm sure I'll be out there at some point.

You really could start with something light. Heck, you could even start with glowsticks just don't tell the hippies. wink

hug ya when I meet you.

Well, shall we go?
Yes, let's go.

Just get in there and do it!!! I spun with a lit staff the 1st night I saw it. Spent some time getting to know the staff 1st, of course... but this is definitely one of those things you just have to start doing. Doesn't have to be lit up though... to begin with...

And... cool!! I'd never heard/seen that quote before... now I'm going to have to track down the comic strip!!

But, nope... it's pogo, the guitar playing, fire twirling (for 2 whole weeks now!!), wish he could play the djembe, hippie@heart. biggrin

rolleyes Sheesh. I thought it said "Location". [Edited to add: Obviously, I can't read, either. eek] And that's where I am. No "hometown" in my life. Too much family too spread out along the US/Canada line. I know Newbury, VT as well as Pays Plat, ON.

I can guarantee when you give me that hug, yer gonna get the ole fisheye. ubblol

So, when is Tompkins Square Park going to have the center lawn all filled with glowing objects? Or is anyone going to play at the garden down the street -- La Plaza Cultural? That's where I first saw fire being used. (Nope, never been to Burning Man.)

biggrin Have fun reading Pogo. Not well known anymore, but worth the search. wink I've got access to a couple of the books from waybackwhen. Cheap thick comic book glued binding, newsprint pages. Gotta turn 'em carefully...but funny.

Will start doing my research for the fire poi...right after I do the valve job on my car. She's idleing way too rough.
