Hi all... I am a complete newbie to poi, fire twirling and anything/everything related. In fact, I'll only even see it in real life for the 1st time next Friday (making it down to the Moon Fest on north side of Brissie).
Anyway, this is me...
Name: Pat... but Pogo to those that know me well.
Location: Logan City, south of Brisbane, QLD, Oz.

Occupation(s): Computer Programmer. Worked for myself from home for 2 1/2 years, but have recently had to get a "real" job.

Toys: Acoustic guitar, Classical guitar, 3 electric guitars, 2 djembes.
Hobbies other than the obvious: Music, Reading, Keeping fit (hmmm, not so much of the keeping fit, actually)
Education: Did Bachelor of Science majoring in Computer Science and Pure Maths. Then Grad Dip Appl Computing... then started a research masters, but gave it away when life got in the way.
Favorite Book(s): Have to get back to you on that one... The Anarchist was the last book I read, quite liked it.
Favorite Movie(s): Lots... Fight Club, Snatch, Lock Stock..., Finding Nemo, Pulp Fiction, Pay It Forward...

Cheers Fireboy... was a good trip. Ended up @ roma st parklands because embarrassingly enough, in the 5 years that it's now existed, I'd never been...
Anyway, walking around the parklands for a couple hours... playing soccer on the lawn, heading on into town sure did tire the boys out!! Had to carry the little one back up the hill from town to roma st station, but it was worth it...
Masters 6, 9 and 12 were fast asleep by 7pm!!!

I twirled for the 1st time last night! And I sucked real bad... but *soooo* much fun!
Had a go on an unlit staff for a little bit, then got right into the real thing. Ended up with black soot all over my jeans, clobbered myself (only once) in the head with one end of the staff (can't believe I did that the 1st time out) and dropped it more times than I spun it, I reckon.
But I'm hooked... already butchered a broomstick, so I can practise at home...
