Hi all... I am a complete newbie to poi, fire twirling and anything/everything related. In fact, I'll only even see it in real life for the 1st time next Friday (making it down to the Moon Fest on north side of Brissie).

Anyway, this is me...

Name: Pat... but Pogo to those that know me well.

Location: Logan City, south of Brisbane, QLD, Oz.

Hometown: As above.

DOB: 17/09/1969

Age: 36 and counting...

Sex: Wouldn't that be nice?

Occupation(s): Computer Programmer. Worked for myself from home for 2 1/2 years, but have recently had to get a "real" job.

Favorite Food(s): Hmmm... pretty much anything, really.

Favorite Color(s): Green

Toys: Acoustic guitar, Classical guitar, 3 electric guitars, 2 djembes.

Hobbies other than the obvious: Music, Reading, Keeping fit (hmmm, not so much of the keeping fit, actually)

Education: Did Bachelor of Science majoring in Computer Science and Pure Maths. Then Grad Dip Appl Computing... then started a research masters, but gave it away when life got in the way.

Favorite Book(s): Have to get back to you on that one... The Anarchist was the last book I read, quite liked it.

Favorite Movie(s): Lots... Fight Club, Snatch, Lock Stock..., Finding Nemo, Pulp Fiction, Pay It Forward...

Favorite TV show(s): Don't watch tv.

Plans for life in general: (i.e. what you want to do when you grow up) I really... wish... I knew.

Favorite Music Artists/Composers: Lately... Xavier Rudd, Jack Johnson, JBT, Blue King Brown, Donavon Frankeneiter, Rob Sawyer, The Waifs... blues/roots stuff.

Favorie ice cream flavor(s): Vanilla.

Marmite, Vegemite, or Nutella? (please choose one...this is important as it is essentially this site's equivalent of stating your religion...we have religious wars, crusades, cathedrals to Nutella, all that.)

Definitely... vegemite.

Excellent you're coming this Friday- should be good! In fact, you may even want to bring a djembe- the drumming circle really goes off biggrin

Also, don't forget, there's Bayfire on Thursday, same location- are you going?

I would like to take that kind of trip. I think I will ... I'll just crawl into bed and get some sleep, who knows where my dreams will take me. Some where nice, warm, sunny and with water to take a swim in. *sigh* I'm so ready for summer.

Cheers Fireboy... was a good trip. Ended up @ roma st parklands because embarrassingly enough, in the 5 years that it's now existed, I'd never been... redface

Anyway, walking around the parklands for a couple hours... playing soccer on the lawn, heading on into town sure did tire the boys out!! Had to carry the little one back up the hill from town to roma st station, but it was worth it...

Masters 6, 9 and 12 were fast asleep by 7pm!!! biggrin

How redface...

I just noticed that I didn't even make mention of what used to be my #1 favourite hobby. Riding my motorcycle!!

"Used to be" because I'm currently between bikes... a whole other story. But as soon as I can afford, I'll be back on one again.

Now I think about it, I'm starting to get a little worried that it won't feel quite the same; haven't ridden now since... ummm... about August last year, I think.

Can't believe I completely forgot about my poor old bike... spank

YIPPEEEEEE!!!!!!

I twirled for the 1st time last night! And I sucked real bad... redface but *soooo* much fun!

Had a go on an unlit staff for a little bit, then got right into the real thing. Ended up with black soot all over my jeans, clobbered myself (only once) in the head with one end of the staff (can't believe I did that the 1st time out) and dropped it more times than I spun it, I reckon. eek

But I'm hooked... already butchered a broomstick, so I can practise at home... biggrin

Awww, thx guys... it was great to meet you all too. Sorry for being distracted, but I was working almost full time to keep the boys interested; need to get them a staff/poi of their own, I think - definitely the unlit kind!! devil

Ye, Ry... I turned up on Wed and tried a staff for the 1st time. Only 3 of us there, but was good fun. I'm going to try to make it to SouthBank Monday too. juggle

Thanks valura... look forward to it; so are the boys!! biggrin

Gee, gita... you have done *well*!!! 3 out of 3! I'm lucky if I can remember my own name half the time... Surprisingly enough, they did get a couple of pretty cool photos. Now I just need to find the cord that lets me copy them to the computer...

Hey Gabe... ye, that was likely my boys... standing along the edge of the action taking snaps. I haven't got a clue how to drive the camera, or anything else that runs on electricity for that matter... but they did well, considering. biggrin

Ye, Monday sounds good. I shall be there...!!

I still have to find time to hook up with Elliot and learn to drive these drums of mine... almost going to need to clone myself soon. Scary thought... 2 pogos running around brissie... eek
