This will be where I post my video endeavors.

spin/flow vids:

**new vid**

*~*~* new hoop video posted 13 May 2008 *~*~*

playing around with fx. plants look really trippy when you apply the mirror effect. as does long flowing skirts. i've been busy. rolleyes

*~*~* new hoop video posted 06 May 2008 *~*~*

some hooping in natural beauty

forest light

playing around with incorporating antispin, a couple of new moves, and some choreography ideas

to "I Know" by Fiona Apple

to "Slow Divers" by Jane's Addiction

to "Everything in its Right Place" by Radiohead

My friend Ann captured this video of a spin at a bonfire during a hoop retreat this past summer. I've posted a lot of vids but never a fire one, so here goes.

late light: city hall

"practice room" ~ features poi & hoop

unedited hoop set

unedited poi set

* my first cj vid! just a short snippet of a practice session. i've been doing contact ball for a year + 4 months. i was way better with poi after that amount of time.

* this one's more about eyecandy than technique. features hoop, double hoop & poi. (yay sock poi!!) :

* Okay, I was debating whether or not to post this as I'm not happy with all the spinning, or the compression, but then I thought f*** it, it's my first video and I want to share!

Some of my timing's kinda dodgy, particularly on the wraps. The different bits of footage were shot over the course of six months.

other bits o' fun

These are short little things, not spinning, just messing around with After Effects. Both are less than a minute.

I liked it..there were times when you really couldnt see what was happening.. because of shadow... but some of those locations were gorgeous.. and though the timing was off in places, the overall movement was really nice.. I can imagine that that is what some of my favorite spinners must have looked like in their early days.. I mean there was this consistent grace to the movements..

keep it up man..

Excellent stuff.. that was a great watch. Very fluid with some very nice poi movements that'll I'll have to play around with. I'm glad you decided to share smile, and look forward to more.

Sweetheart, that was soooooo beautiful! Thanks so much. I dont know if it was the music, your spinning, the gorgeous filming or simply my pms,;-) but something has me moved to tears... It made me feel nostalgic for when we first met, and your spin at Trout lake... Radiant.

That was one of my favorite vids ever ever to watch. Well Done!!!!

Stylistically, such a contrast from the last fire spin I saw you do - which was more rapid edgy funky ubercool. Nice to see you can vary your style so much, from funk to flow...

Really looking forward to more. You have progressed so much in such a short time, you make me feel like such a complete slacker!!( hmmn. Well, I guess I sorta am...ah well)

We must get together again soon...If not EJC, then NYC!

love ya,

nice one! That was a lovely video! I especially liked the selection of different locations you used, it's not that often I see impressive indoor locations! The spinning was very nice and fluid smile

Thanks, everyone, for visiting! It feels good to be putting it out there, and especially nice to be getting comments from people who's videos I've admired and postings I've learned from.

Icon: I'll break out the skirt for a future vid just for you. wink & Rev, thanks for the encouragement.

Andrea: I can't believe you remember that spin at Trout Lake! It was a memorable evening though, I guess. I was such a baby-spinner back then, I'd only been at it for 3 months! As far as style, I do like to mix it up, and fire does bring out a different energy.

Yes, at Burning Man. You should've seen the reactions of the people waiting in line at the Port-a-Potties. ubblol

One question: In the screenshots next to the video on google, it looks like you're spinning fire in one of the indoor locations, but I swear I didn't see you spinning fire in the video. Did I miss it?

I got a great kick out of the non-poi vidoes. The poi video was great, but the other ones totally tickled me!

It looks like fire in the thumbnails, but it's just the brightness of the sun or lights.. If you click on the thumbnail, it'll take you directly to that point in the vid.

that was a really nice video man, i thoroughly enjoyed it! biggrin

great locations (especially the glow shots, i was seeing really nice subtle trails set off against that backdrop), lush music and very graceful well thought out spinning. i remember when you first joined the forum and have some idea of who's been teaching you so it's really good to see where you've got to... i'm looking forward to seeing your progression the next one and hopefully seeing it for real sometime! ubbrollsmile hug

Hey ya Nick:

Sui's got it right -- it's sunlight on the wall in the background that makes it look like fire in the thumbnails. You're not the only one who thought it was fire, and it's a totally unintentional effect. Didn't mean to lead you on with that...one thing I'm not is a tease. wink

The new vid is posted on google now, and is downloadable for both PC's and Macs there. I know there are some folks who can't watch things on either google or youtube and I hope to have these up on my own personal site sometime over the summer.

I just launched my website. It's a quick & dirty one but I hope to upgrade it in the future. Definitely a work in progress.

BUT! Why I'm posting this here is because downloadable versions of my videos are available there. Scroll to the bottom of the page for the download links. I know some of you out there can't or don't care to watch streaming vids, so for you lot, if you're interested, please visit & view. biggrin

Damn, I was hoping for a higher res version of A Spin in the Life, but when I watch the downloadable version, it's all pixilated like the streaming version. Any chance you'll post a non-compressed version?

There's some great photos on your site, but I'm particularly drawn to the one where you're holding the ball at your stomach.

I'm still thinking about making a run down the coast ( but wary of the body cavity search at the border ) this fall. GG was mentioning somthing about a retreat, but I lost the details.

Hey Stout, I was hoping for a higher res version myself! I actually made one that I thought would be better, a Quicktime .mov file instead of an mp4, and though it's nearly three times the file size, it doesn't look any better. I think I need better compression software. It's on my list, but with BM and my show coming up, it may be a little while before I can deal with that.

Just posted my first cj effort. I wish I had captured a better chest roll, but I wanted to post an unedited clip. Just a brief look at where I'm at right now...it ain't no "tress & sparklies" that's for sure, but I think okay for where I'm at.

posted three new vids. I had a practice session today and just let the camera run. I mostly just wanted footage for my own practice purposes, but decided to put some up anyway. Still feeling my way towards a new style, or flow, or something...

Khan...I saw your poi video over on tribe and I've just got to say that your shirtless spinning gives guys like me with less than washboard abs a whole new level of confidence...I salute you...sir.

So your video, coupled with a post on posture I also read on tribe ( contact staff ) inspired me to have the best night of fire spinning I've had.....ever.

I did wear a shirt though....damn farmer's tan.

ubblol Stout, thanks for your post! Honestly, if I had planned ahead of time to post these I might've kept a shirt on. I obviously don't have an underwear model body, but I decided a while ago to just not care about that anymore. My own comfort is more important than other people's perceptions (that are warped by media images of what's "attractive" anyway). Glad my spare tire could help! biggrin

Khan darling, I regret to say I can not see these( or so many vids on HOP) cause You tube is censored- re banned in Thailand. Evil buggers. Tantalizing. You just have to get yourself out here to spin with me... I just got a new hulla hoop you would love... it was hilarious travelling with it, had to demonstrate at every travel juncture in order to bribe the various officious officials to let me carry it around in tight places... Planes, buses, trucks, motorbikes, boats of all sorts, man, I really broke it in!

Love to you guys...

New hoop video posted. Trying out some new stuff, and also trying to capture the light in the lobby of the building where I work at the end of the day. The light was actually the inspiration for this one! Also included: a completely gratuitous fx sequence and bloopers!
