Hello!

I am Martin (moxsapphire is too long to insert here biggrin) and I live in Germany's very south, almost at the border to Switzerland. It is sad but true that I am the only fire twirler in a 50 miles diameter (I have searched companions desperately, but if there were any, they've been hiding). To explain this weird situation, I recommend travelling back in time.

six years ago:

At the age of thirteen, an aunt gave me a book about circus arts. The diabolo chapter looked interesting, an so I bought my first (crap!) diabolo and began teaching myself.

A year later or so I was finally permitted to join the circus arts group of my school. They had a coach teaching balls and clubs, but I kept going with the diabolo (changing to the much better Henrys diabolos). Years went on and I learned the basics of balls, rings, clubs, cigar boxes, devil stick... almost everything, but nothing of staff or poi.

Things changed as I went to London two years ago. I had planned to stay for about ten days, so I thought about finding a place to juggle while at London. I found the meeting at Spitalfields Market and decided to go there.

The day came and I packed my diabolo and went there. Approaching the spot I had a strange feeling: everybody was spinning staff and poi, something completely unknown to me. Luckily I got a warm welcome by Ewan and got into it soon. At the beginning I was sort of intimidated, but found it highly interesting.

The day after I went to oddballs and bought a pair of poi.

Back at home, I went crazy. I practised a lot of poi, made a staff, tried to figure out. If you're a slow learner already and your only source of spinning tech is the internet, things don't go on fast...

After two years, I was done with the basics.

two weeks ago I was in London again and very excited to go to spitz and finally learn something new.

I met duballstar in the tube (a guy carrying two long fire staffs... heading towards Liverpool street station... probably going to spitz???) and he hinted me the site.

So here I am. I hope it was interesting to read.

And, sorry for the bad English.

Here I am!

Martin

Hi Martin, nice to meet you! It was a nice story.

Never hold your farts in! They travel up your spine, go into your brain and that's where shitty idea's come from.
