Since I posted my first post today, I just thought I should introduce myself instead of lurking silently , smiling affectionately in the corners of HoP...
wave

My usual name is Andrea, though I am sometimes called Rowan by those who know me well... other names at other times and places...

I live on a gorgeous little island on the west coast of Canada, surrounded by beauty and more than a little adventure...
I attract the bizarre, though i dont feel all that bizarre myself. Nick once described me as female flypaper for crazy people and I guess I would have to say that is true! But most of them ( the crazy people ) are friendly! One friend says I should warn people not to go out in the woods with me late at night- the risk of alien abduction occurring is apparently gazillions of percentages higher !eek:

But I am sure the aliens are friendly too , so no worries. ;-)

I got into Poi a few years ago when I was walking a downtown eastside alley in Vancouver and started seeing all these brilliant tracers down the end of it. Thought man, good drugs, then realized I hadn't taken any...Yikes! It was Nick filming for one of the COl vids... We met, but lost track of each other shortly thereafter. It took me another year for my life to settle , and we found
each other again and began some poiing together here on the island.

biggrin biggrin

I was doing some Shamanistic studies at the time, working with the element of fire. So I spent a year on that element, dealing with all aspects of it, and to a degree learning to play with my fears.

The aspect of poi that appeals to me most is the challenge of perfecting three dimensional mandela images all around oneself... It feels amazing as you bring them towards symetry and harmony!I find it meditational, to run the energy as well as spin.

Then there is the funny side, spinning these silly toys around, more often then not bonking myself in the head, tangled in some kind of insane bondage rituals, and fighting off the kids who want to play with my adorable fuzzy penguin poi...
ubblol

ubblove
I also love to dance poi, really be free and just dance, but most often save that for the private moments deep in the forest or alone at the beach,( one notable exception being a christmas naked fire spin with MK beside the hot tub!redface)

In general I am quite shy, and take a while learning new moves(eternal thanks to those of you who have had the patience to teach me!) Unfortunately, I find much of what you masterful Poi beings write to describe moves to be unintelligable, so you just have to show me. Again, and again
wink wink

I am many things, and none.Finding and inventing myself a-new right now after some recent disorienting life experiences. At least it's not dull! Have at various points been a herbalist, healer, dancer, a kaleidoscope designer, a jeweller , a gardener, and a translator... Lately started getting involved in relief work in Thailand. No idea what is next!
ubbidea
ubbrollsmile

Things that make me happy- chocolate( dark only please, ) tango, purpleness, kisses, cuddles, whips, cats, feather boas , secret penguin conspiracies, stories of all kinds, smiles, plants and people. I love the poetry of Mary Oliver( read Flare, seriously, go read it now!) , Rumi, Rilke and Hafiz. I enjoy writing ; stories of my silly adventures, poetry, and assorted nonsense. I am currently working on a book of erotic crossword puzzles...

Movies, I love the English Patient, Strictly Ballroom,Like Water for Chocolate- I am sure there are others but I blank on them right now.! Sorry!

My favorite author is Jeannette Winterson( the Power Book is amazing!!!) , followed closely by Charles De Lint. I am a voracious reader and love discussing and/or debating pretty much everything!

People that have inspired me, too many, cant name them all!But must mention Nick, Oud, Vinod, Joe, Peter, MK, Andy, Zamir,Paul and many other delightful travellers that have spent time on my couch or in my web... I am honoured to know people with such inner beauty and more than a little talent!
hug

ubbidea

I invite you all to come for a visit, spin some poi( please teach me! ) and join in the fun of this beautiful place. My world is simply magical: musicians, dancers, artists, healers, philosophers, clowns, mathematicians and mystics. You would be welcome.

Thanks for the amazing site , and I look forward to meeting those I have not yet met, kisses and hellos to those I have!
be in touch,
love and light

My hellish stagnancy? Hmmmmm! It's not that hellish but weird!

So, the story of my relationships after school is:

1. Hell. Won't elaborate, but after basically being unable to do anything without being watched and criticised I felt the need to go out, have fun, and

2. Rebound. Which was not a good idea and probably hurt me more (well at least on a different level) than 1.

3. Nice but boring, but much-needed. Didn't work out either, followed by

4-ish some short flingy types and

5. A very intense one with moving in together and all that ended quite messily not so long ago.

So now as you know I'm trying to enjoy singledom as much as possible. Which is confusing me a bit because while I always thought it was okay to do so I've only ever done it because there wasn't really an option.

Kind of discovering new things about myself as I'm going along, like it's okay to have fun, and to do stuff in bed that most people will find weird (and to talk about it without being too scared of what the boy will think). Generally not being too scared of what the boy will think smile

So, boy 1, the one I've been visiting twice, is extremely hot, just perfect in bed (and doesn't he know it wink), good fun... well, everything I'd want for a relationship if he wasn't in a different country ubblol Remembers little things, too, like he didn't shave before I visited because I said I liked him with stubble wink Weeeeellllll, he kind of asked some questions along the lines of how long I was going to be in Edinburgh for and what I was going to do after, and we both realised that the plans just weren't that compatible, not just now but quite a bit into the future, so there's no point in trying. He can't leave where he is (or better I would never want him to) because he's got a dream job, and I mean a real dream, and most of all his boy. And for me and my job it would be a dead-end, I'd probably not even find anything to do with what I've studied if I tried for ages, and I know I'd be unhappy if I had a job I didn't like. And going to a different country just for a vague idea of there being a relationship at some point is romantic, but I'm not really. So it's a shame, but we'll still try and meet up from time to time, and I've won a friend biggrin

Boy 2 is in England, and polyamorous, which I don't do, so there won't be a relationship but possibly another friend with certain benefits. Will see him this weekend now that the situation with boy 1 is a bit clearer smile

Boy 3 is faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaar away so only a flirt from a distance for now.

And there's a few others that are interested but I just don't have the time now!

(Edit: while reading over this I just realised that I seem to be making quite a bit of an effort to not get involved with any local boys ubblol)

So far it's all very nice and exciting and good fun and travelling and seeing places and having wonderful weekends. But I SO know that at one point the "awwwwww, I just want ONE person to wake up next to" is going to kick in. But until then I'll just be happy with what I've got!

Ry, so sorry you are ill! Dont die! Rest, eat good soups, thats my plan... Read a good book- go out and get a copy of " The Book of Embraces" I just finished it, a little collection of poetic latin american sorta surrealist story/images. It is vivid and wonderful.

I am actually ill too, been fighting it for weeks, but I think the lack of sleep has done me in. Moving super slow today... Resting, for the horsebackriding later!

Birgit, thanks for sharing. I feel a lot better knowing I am not the only mad multiple out there! The whole thing surprises me, cause really I have spent much time after my marriage ended, alone. Learning to be alone, and liking it. Now it has swung to the other extreme!

Glad you got out of the hellish relationship, you sound posative and making lots of good choices in your needs and life. I bet the right guy will show up without you having to make any big romantic moves( as long as you dont choose to move to a smallish island of amazons) I like your attitude, enjoy it all in the meantime!

Skully, thanks for the chocolate! I love Greens and Blacks...

Tune in tomorrow for the next update---sniffle - after I say goodbye I shall need some comfort to be sure. I am far too emtotional for someone I just met. Yikes. Crazy.

Thanks B, I can sure use one...

He gave me a lovely cd complilation he made, and a gorgeous shirt with my totem animal on it, so I am just going to curl up in bed in the shirt, listen to the tunes, and start a new day tomorrow. Funny that we both brought gifts for the goodbye, made me happy, cause obviously he had beent hinking of me , too.

Taking the day off tomorrow, I am just too tired these days.Maybe thats why so darned emotional.

A quiet night overall, we both seemed lost in thought. Fun with our friends though, and a fabulous meal. Horse back riding was lovely, too slow for him but just right for me- sore in places I rather would not be! wink

Sleep, and a new day. I wonder if he has time for breakfast before he flys out? I will have to call and see...

Sounds to me like you are having a huge crush on this guy. You might find once he has gone away and is out of your radar you don't really think about him.

Maybe this short intense moment was meant to remind you not to settle for Country music man. As lovely as he is it sounds like he doesn't really set a huge fire burning in you.

But what do I know?

Andrea, we should really start that multiples thread... imagine like 20 of us going on about "countrymusicman" and "Boy 12" and "girl with silver jumper" and "coffee addict", it would be SO confusing and much fun! (or else it would just be the 2 of us and everyone thinking we're a bit weird ubblol)

My weekend was so funny, can hardly write about it. Just to say that a tiny silver geo metro car is not designed to capacitate a menage et trois on the hood, so dont even try it. Dont let your friends try it...!!!!!!!!!! And if the three parties involved at the party are another woman, plastered on pink drinks, and a gay man whose husband is upstairs hitting on your other boyfriend, it is probably a really really bad idea, and no one will end up satisfied except the car repair person who gets paid mucho to fix the dents... lol

I actually said no, eventually, and rolled the other two off into the bushes and went home. But the prelude was hilarious. Comedy as a come on...

Things tick along slowly with country boy, who seems interested in if I am staying the winter here. And asks questions about me dating other men. I worry that means things will not stay casual, while being hypocritically flattered thinking maybe he cares...

Ry, will add those words! Birgit, have any you wan tto add?

Trying to catch up on countrymusicman, the shaman and boy 1 and 2 now.. so much to address I don't know where to start. I think I'd have to approve of the obvious ones, for obvious reasons.. The shaman dj fellow sounds wonderful.. not everyday you meet a soulmate. So what's happened since.. are you guys still in touch? Will you still be in touch? Please don't say it ended!

I need a job though. I like my job and if I sat at home all day or had to do a job I don't like, I'd be very unhappy.

German words used in English... my top 5 will have to be:

5. Kindergarten
4. Hinterland
3. the Glockenspiel (all with the dodgy pronunciation)
2. Doppelgänger
1. to abseil biggrin that one always gets me.

Apart from that, the überfrequent use of the term über is quite amusing smile

enter boy 4!

So the current standings:

Boy 1: generally interested but long-distance won't work

Boy 2: not my favourite though nice

Boy 3: tooooooo far away though I'm invited to visit anytime

Boy 4: local, sports scientist (as is boy 1, what's the chances for someone as un-sporty as me!!!), part-time fitness instructor and yummy, likes the same music as me...

Dammit, why do I have to choose?

"ironic", my addition to the list of words and description of the situation wink

Okay, loving the words people!ubblove Yours particularly, scully!I have a new list to post tomorrow if I find time... I just got a new computer program to help me set my erotic crosswords. Fun!

Today, must share the reason why I have been so freaking tired, at least I think it is why--- Just figured out that I have been sleep walking again! Yikes! Woke up with a bump on my head, mysterious scratches on my body, and the door wide open... Quite exhausted. frown

I used to sleep walk tons, and when I was a kid it was a real problem. As an adult, it comes and goes. For a while when I lived in Vancouver a friend set up a motion activated vid for me to figure out what was going on, cause it was really freaking me out,dangerous- I was going to sleep naked, waking up dressed, things cooked in my kitchen, doors open, phone off the hook... What the F?

So I am thinking it has started again. Wondering what to do about it.

Think the obvious answer is to have country boy sleep here more, since it never goes too far when someone shares my bed wink Seriously...

Shaman man ubblove, well, he is in the other end of the counrty right now. We have written a bit, we shall see if anything continues or not. I do hope so... I am beginning blogging around some of the thoughts expressed due to he and I's interaction- look it up on tribe.net if ya want. Under my real name... winkubbrollsmile

Country boy and I are running off to a sweet cabin resort for a bit next week, hot tub perched over the ocean, fireplace inside, cliff paths down to the wild sea... looking forward to it. biggrin

Have not even told you much about the other possibility... A man here on the island! Major drawback- he is ten years younger. Sigh. Ah well. Will fill ya all in as that develops. Will take more time though, he is even busier than I am! That is one of the things I like about him though, he always has energy drive and determination, doing something fascinating with it...

Oh, and in case there are rules aout there about having to choose, I say choose number four.

Erotic crossword? That sounds cool, if you can get it to me, I might finally learn proper English terminology for things ubblol

(and add new words to MY list!!)

So far I don't have to choose because they all know there's others and don't seem to mind, though that's mostly on account of them living far away (and as far as I know, who says I'm not their "Germangirl 2" or whatever!!) biggrin

Boy 4 also has the distinct advantage of being able to get me into the sauna and steamroom after the place he works in closes! Will see how that one goes.

Sleepwalking? That's scary... especially when you come back with bumps and scratches... best having someone look after you!!

Enjoy the time out with Countryboy, sounds like a great holiday! And as for boys 10 years younger, I don't know! I've never been attracted to one, though as long as it's legal I can't see why not, I know I've fancied men 10 years older!

I just scared the sh!t out of myself realising that I'm now old enough for it to be legal ubblol I think that's the only drawback though wink

No new words today, though if there was one for the feeling of too much leftover red wine on the tongue when waking up, it'd be here now!

Just realizing, that maybe us scorpoi folk (scorpio poi people) just can not do casual? As in relationships? I ended things with CB, my so called casual "whatever" relationship, but saw him tonight at a gig, and we were distant, and my heart hurt. I came home by myself, and now I feel lonely. Sigh. I was not supposed to feel attached in any way to him. My heart was supposed to stay out of it. So what happenned?

Well from what you described he's a really nice guy, so it's just natural to feel attached to him hug I've more or less stopped talking to boy 1 (and he to me) because that long-distance thing isn't going to work, and at least *I* know that if I see him again and again I'll be too attached to him. It hurts, too, and I sometimes feel like I want to call him up and tell him things that have happened at work or wherever wink

Hoping that maybe in a few weeks or so it'll normalise and we'll be in touch again but as "friends", but that's probably utopic! I'm getting the feeling that "casual" only really works for long with people you don't really like, but then why would you even want casual with them? ubblol

Long Distance is easier to let go, cause you dont bump into them all the time at least. Though still challenging to be sure. Good luck with that! I call my mom now instead of any boys! haha. She loves to hear about my day!
