perosnaly, i reckon none of them were very good. They were ok to watch, but i wouldnt rewatch any of them. The old ones are a tad better.

The full trailer aired on TV last night so I'm sure they will post a video link soon. It was quite a bit longer than the teaser trailer and had a lot more action. I'll keep my eyes open for it.

Edit: George Lucas will be on 60 minutes this Sunday with more clips from Episode III.

Edit: Found a link: E3Trailer

Scroll down, click on "Free", wait for the download and "save as..."

Don't know how long that link will last, all the others I found are trashed.

I can't do it.
I love the originals.
I enjoyed the books.

I sat through Episode 1 and thought it was a cute movie for my son.
I tried to watch Episode 2 4 times, and fell asleep every single time.
We have a cheap theater here where I don't mind spending $4 for my son and I to see the movie, that way if I fall asleep, I'm not out $16.

Can someone PM me to tell me if Darth Vadar is actually in the movie? He's technically not supposed to be in it until the *very* end, more like a cameo. If he is, I am not sure I can see it.

You think I am picky about this...you should see me in the X-men movies. It isn't pretty wink

With the exception of the bit with the lightning in palpatine's chambers and the crappy acting in the scenes with anakin and padme, I thought it was a brilliant film smile

PM on it's way Pele.

But there's no sense crying over every mistake. You just keep on trying till you run out of cake.

smile Ditto, except for the "brilliant film" bit. It was what it was - I had no misconceptions that it is an FX movie, and had few expectations. At least Anakin was moderately perve-worthy in this one.

He did it all for love. How romantic and tragic. Interesting theme of fate being unavoidable.

the CGI yoda looked a LOT better in 3 than in 2, very foten forgot that he was CGI, where as in ep2 he looked a lot more fake...

Can i tell you my biggest problem with the movie? It had nothign to do with content or storyline. it had to do with editing... and before anyone responds, i think the reason this editing style was chosen is because it remains true to the editing style fo the original trilogy... so the movie moves back and forth a lot, from one scene to another or from one location to another... but instead of fades or blackouts or anything to transition, the transition are these "swipe" effects... the type of fades that are packed into power point... like a photocopiuer scan effect, or a spiral effect from the center... i dont know, just cheesy transition effects.... and there were A LOT of them... there were a LOT of these transition effects and they bothered me because they just seemd very contrived and took away from other parts of the film...

pele - anakin is dubbed vader before the VERY end, but the vader we all know and love, full suit and everything, is just at the end.... hope that isnt a spoiler, folks... i kind of assumed everyone would know that, i knew it/assumed it before going in....

o yeah - that whole volcano planet thing was well OTT... pretty to look at, but OTT nonetheless. Actually, that just about sums up the whole movie.

I still think Wookies are sexy.

I saw the third one at 9am yesterday and thought it was really good, better than the the other 2 new installments, slightly biassed cos i worked on one of them for a bit.
i got sad in it cos we all know what anakina is going to do and whats gonna happen, during the film i kept thinking hmm hang on maybe he wont maybe things will be ok, but alas no, and the presence of Jar Jar wasnt too good but he doesnt speak smile and Chewbacca yay!

as much as i love the wookies, i will have to agree with all the reviews i had read last week from the reviewers who got to preview it (i havent read any reviews this week) that the inclusion of the wookies was weakly done, and only done to appease the audience's love of wookies. they were not worked into the story well and it could have just ahve been a planet inhabited by ANYONE and it was a poor showing on lucas' part to include them in that way, as an obvious grab for the heart strings of all of those chewbacca fans.

also, wookies are one of the top selling merchandise items, and without including them in the film he would have lost a LOT of merchandising money... it is sad when good movies do stupid things for bad reasons...

I was going to see it in my Jedi costume and then realised, no actually it isn't worth my time because it'll be just as bad as Eps 1+2.

I LOVE the Original Trilogy, but the latest efforts are just twisting a knife in my heart. Possibly the worst thing about it is that George Lucas has completely wiped out the universe that dozens of writers helped to create, and replaced it with Corporate Cr*p jazzed up with SFX.

I find it easier to pretend that the prequels never existed, and just re-watch the originals and read the Expanded Universe novels. All 140 of them (now almost entirely defunct cos of Fu**ing Lucas and his obsession with appealing to the masses with C*ap plots and bad acting).

Sorry to rant.

After much consideration, I find that the view is worth the asphyxiation.

i havent seen this yet but this thread has made me think its going to be [censored]

i dont think it will be as bad as some of you are making it out to be though

alot more effort has been put into this movie compared to the other two recent star wars movies, in effort to correct his wrongs

personally i dont actually mind the newest star wars movies

someone who can think up an idea for a story like that is a genius to me, let alone make f**cking 6 movies from it, now there's people takling about the 78and9 movies......how the hell?

someone with soo much vision deserves alot more respect for what he has done, not only for the old movies, but for the new ones aswell.....they're not that bad guys come on........

Er, no. They REALLY ARE that bad.

Credit where it's due, he's a genius for the first trilogy, but that doesn't give him the right to destroy hundreds of independant authors work in search of personal profit.

And how much emotional involvement do you feel with Anakin or Padme in the Prequels? Compare that to what you felt when you saw Leia, Han, Luke and Vader in the Original.

Sorry, there really is NO competition.

After much consideration, I find that the view is worth the asphyxiation.

i dont care what everyone says. episodes 1 and 2 were great films. ok so maybe not as good as episodes 4 5 and 6 but they gave you more of what you wanted, which is Star Wars.
face it you'd all be a bit bitter if mr lucas didnt release the star wars movies and just left it with the three.
i've heard that the new movie is well worth the long trip to the cinema, overpriced bag of popcorn and watered down coke. i for one am gettin my star wars loving self down to a cinema to see it as soon as i can
and ive never really thought about it but what a crap name for a movie .... Star Wars. saying it over and over makes it sound ... well ... rubbish

Actually, I think people give Lucas alot more credit than he deserves for the original trilogy.

Yes, they were groundbreaking in terms of content but that was content that he'd borrowed really, really heavily from a number of japanese animated films that hadn't had a widespread american screening (even to the level of having the hero be a farm boy whose life is changed by the contents of an escape pod/crashed ship).
He didn't even direct The Empire Strikes Back or Return of the Jedi and only gets writing credits for Empire for the story - 2 other people actually wrote the film. He had help writing the screenplay for Jedi too.

Now I'm not saying he's talentless - I'm a big fan of American Graffiti - but really George Lucas took a few bits and pieces from other stories, mixed them up with a load of terrible acting and some cool new special effects and somehow ended up with Star Wars.
To be honest, I think the only things he should get credit for are having the foresight to set up a dedicated company to do his special effects and for watching films that weren't mainstream american.

But there's no sense crying over every mistake. You just keep on trying till you run out of cake.

lets note that in america ep 3 made more money in its first day in the box office then any other movie in history, over 34 million in the first day alone (including the midnight showings)... significantly higher than both eps 1 +2

ALSO - they are re-re-making the original trilogy, 4-6, to be re-released in the theatres *in 3D*

3D? Really? WTF? How much money has alreayd been made? How much more will be made for the next two months while ep 3 is still in uber hype mode? How many millions have resulted from thr SFX empire launched by and because of the originals? WHY oh WHY oh WHY redo them in 3D???????????

The movie was such a dissapointment! Dont feel they handled the storylines aswell as they could have!

George Lucas is rubbish! Just hanging on to something he knows will make money! The movies are good generally but not as good as should have been! The originals are far far better!

Anyone understand the cliff hanger that Yoda makes at the end? Still trying to work it out!

I'm sorry but I do get a little frustrated when threads get turned to look at finnacial or other motivations behind them. Star Wars will always make money- thats not Lucas' fault, nor do I believe he is milking a cash cow- He had incredible foresight to request profits from merchandise from the first trilogy- the money he amassed allowed a level of cinematic independence unparralled- no big film studio to answer to, budgets through the roof to play with.

The public demands the merchandise from the newer films- YES, it is heavily marketed, but its not like eveyone says- nahh, not interested. Supply and demand.

Lucas is, and has always wanted to be, a cinematic innovator. I believe the motivation to enter into a 3d market is just another step in that innovation- yes it will make more money- do you want it given away instead perhaps? Call me naive if you like but I genuinely think it could be a major innovation (the technology will not the use the green and red glasses- instead, some clear clear ones).

Anyway- lets talk about the film, not its socio-globalised motivations. Sorry- this probably sounds like a very personal rant- its not meant as such. I'm not a massive star wars fan, especially of the second trilogy, but Lucas is usually only guilty of one major failing- not being a particularly good director.

which cliffhanger are you talking about? the yoda talking about training obi-wan about "communing" with quai gon jin (or however it's spelled)?

They are trying to find a way to deal with the fact that in the original trilogy, all the jedi that died 'became one with the force' IE became ghosts, but in the First Trilogy, none of them have. The problem is they still screwed it up...

IF one has to be specifically trained to see and speak with the ghosts, then Luke in the orignal trilogy should never have had the ability, because obi-wan died long before he would have been able to train Luke to do it.

IF, on the other hand, the training was required to BECOME a ghost, then Vader should never have been able to do it, because Anakin turned into vader before learning how, and died right after turning to good.

Like I've said to lots of people, this movie has continuity errors and plot holes large enough to sail a cruise liner through...

What exactly do I have to light on fire to get you to notice me?
