Pretty self-explanitory, really. Just any 5 things you loved when you were 5 (or little in general, if you can't remember that far back wink ).

1 - Dogger. My favourite book about a boy who loses his toy dog.

2 - Red. Great colour, red.

3 - Glasses. I used to sit in front of the telly with glasses-frames on, pretending I needed them. Now I do. ubblol

4 - Ham sandwiches/Jam sandwiches. Not at the same time, I hasten to add.

5 - Homework. I used to get my mum and dad to set me homework. I was a very peculiar child biggrin

1. cupping hands to catch big fat tadpoles in the drain by the field- it was a daily competition. Come to think of it now, I can't remember what used to become of the daily catch..

2. I had a World Wildlife Fund plush toy who I named Sharky. Loved him to bits, along with a plush dog named Fluffy (hey 5 year old kids have a small vocabulary ok). Anyway one day Fluffy got washed, and he came out not so fluffy anymore. Sort of Lassie fur to poodle fur. Then a couple of years later, I realised sharky wasn't a shark, he was a blue whale.

3. Lego men. I found it wonderful that Lego men, despite their non-angular appearances, fit perfectly on two lego spots. I loved how they had interchangeable legs, backpacks and helmets. One day I sent three men on a mission, I tied them to a piece of string and lowered them off the balcony of our flat. Suddenly there was a tug, and I pulled the line back up. Tied to the string were three plastic men, but they certainly weren't lego men. Apparently one of the other neighbours thought it was meant to be some sort of toy swop. My intrepid explorers were never seen again.

4. Starting the car, my mum's Toyota Crown. It was explained to me that warming up the engine was good for the car. I used to feel so grown up being allowed to take the keys, starting the car and sitting on the driver's seat for a whole 3 minutes before anyone else came down. Recently on the news there was a 5 or 6 year old who took a joyride in his family car down to the video store. Understandably, he caused a bit of damage, but I bet I know what was going through his head as he was making his way there..

5. Blowing bubbles in a cup. For some reason, my very young sister and I found this very entertaining. A straw in a cup with some soapy water in it, and 5 minutes later, our tiny lungs would have filled the bathroom with suds. I suppose it's what we imagined snow to be like. Had some snow last xmas- it snowed during xmas day and from a sofa in my mum and stepdad's new conservatory in Devon, it looked like something straight out of a fairytale. I think I've come a long way.

Cool.

this is going to sound really increadibly geeky for a child, but when I was like 9 or 10, my best friend and I made a 2 3 minute long lego stop frame animation movies using lego men and the the just out space craft sets (that style of lego mad had just appeared, which dates me pretty well I'm afriad). we did it all with an 8-mm film movie camera. even featured whacked out space monsters (a genuine muppet!) and explosions (fireworks of a type that are now illegal - man, those were the days!). You'd be suprised how well legos stand up to fireworks. Some of my legos (yes, I still have them - well over $5,000 worth I am sure) still feature scorch marks.

Naw, it is all stored at mum's house somewhere (back in the States). she was supposedly copying all the film to video, but I think she stalled on that project after 2 days and burning out the projector bulb and being unable to find a replacement...

Sorry!

I showed it a "show and tell" one day in class, and the next week my teacher arranged to have the whole (what was it, 4th?) grade watch it. hell, my teacher was impressed I could work the projector, much less make a stop action film.

but really it wasn't so weird for me, I was working in a darkroom by the time I was 5 and alone by 7, and by 8 my parents would let me sail the boat (4 meter monohull) alone in the nearby lake. my parents let me do whatever I wanted as long as I kept out of their way - want to make a film, great! here's how, now leave us alone for the rest of the week! ubblol

1. Running around and playing in the front garden... especially playing house with my Wendy house and baby dolls (remember Tiny Tears?!), complete with the box of clothes (once mine) to change her into.

2. At 5, my growing collection of cuddly toys and kids books, including Poochi, Care Bears (the original!), Rainbow Brite, the Cabbage Patch Kids, My Little Pony etc. My cuddly toys often took on roles in the Wendy house.

3. My younger brothers collection of Lego (which I used to force-feed him. He never choked though, despite my dastardly efforts). I made some cool stuff, though.

4. Getting muddy. Especially by jumping in puddles beside my mum, which would then send water shooting up her leg... cos she wasn't wearing wellies smile

5. Jelly and icecream. And the small bar of chocolate we were only allowed once a week on a Friday night.

Care Bears (the original!)

The new ones are pretty ugly aren't they! One of my friends was telling me how she never had a carebear (!), I went around looking because her birthday was coming up, and in the end I bought her a preloved friendbear on ebay. Nothing like the originals! When I was 3, I had wishbear and my sister had tenderheart- they're now somewhere in Mongolia.. biggrin

4. Ride bikes
5. Play in my walk in closet. I thought it was so cool that I had a mini-room in my room, so I would always play in the closet.
