biggrin hugs!!!!

It's from Terry Pratchett, "Carpe Jugulum", the one where vampires are trying to take over Lancre

Yes it did sound rather Pratchettey.. I started reading that book he wrote with Neil Gaiman, but as much as I am a fan of the latter, I got distracted with something else, then followed on brilliantly by misplacing the book before I finished it. redface

ooooops a little late, but thanks a lot star smile I really really hope I'll get some time to try this, maybe this weekend or next, but I've also still got the molehill cake to bake, and and and!

A belated yay here for Überpoiness and all the people who came and visited, my head still hurts from trying to figure out the stuff from the workshops!

Here's something for all the slackers that didn't make it to Arthur's Seat before sunset, and all the smart people who didn't take the long annoying route all across the hill and back, but who missed the nice view, and a little advertisement for coming to Edinburgh and climbing up that horrible hill for everyone who wasn't Überpoiing smile

Falling asleep perfectly understandable, nearly did so myself.

Hello Mr. Officer smile
it's going alright... I've got 96 laboratory rats trained up to random cuddle and nibbling attacks now smile also, soon sunbird's new website will promote my cause biggrin

How's life in Australia? I really feel like a looooong holiday now frown my lab has moved and there was hardly any "real" work to do, so now the building is ready and everything has started again I realise I'm not really used to working anymore... ubblol even more reason to dominate the world and LET people work for me!!

Kat, I'm not so scared of speaking, just of the fact that it's both a professional audience AND an audience I know lots of people in... usually it's either just the lab/institute or just the people that sponsor me, so it's my 1st conference... aaaaaaaaaah eek maybe it IS public speaking! Ah well, at least I'm good at designing powerpoint stuff, so I'll go down in style if I go down!

Things are pretty wonderful at the moment.. Tail end of a Brisbane winter, 'mostly sunny 11-22°C, currently 21.5°C'.. I'm thinking of going out to get some of that sunshininess in a bit. Have a bit of a crook shoulder though, so I've got to make an appointment for treatment shortly- if I'm lucky they'll let me have something today.

So any chance of you actually taking a holiday? It's really nice over here this time of the year wink

Hey.. good luck with the conference too! Sounds exciting hug2

You'll probably see me in 2 years from now... am planning an Oz/NZ tour when I finish my degree. It's not really a good plan to fly so far for a short holiday methinks.

Hope your shoulder's getting better soon smile My hands are still messed up, though on Tuesday I felt my right index finger for the first time since April. It was like having a new finger wink

Summer here is ending too, it was "mostly rainy 11-22°C" except for when I was in Germany tongue

*pushes keyboard aside, puts feet up on desk, sits donut tray on lap and sips hot chocolate*

I'd tend to agree with you on the holiday plan. Nothing like coming back from a holiday knowing you're still on holiday wink

Shoulder's slightly better- not hurting as much- but it's still very stiff, and waking up in the morning's not the same anymore not being able to stretch or do the instinctive sit myself up and get off the bed. Have however, booked an appointment with another physio, and am hoping they do some magic with a laser..

Good to hear about your right index finger.. Tendonitis can't be very much fun- especially seeing how hands are you know.. pretty important. Get better quickly! hug hug

hot chocolate??? IN YOUR FREE TIME??? That's the official work drink, don't you dare consuming that out of work! (insert smiley of me trying to look evil and stern)

Can I have hot chocolate, too? I bought one in the new canteen yesterday but it was not very nice. I think I should've said "chocolate milk" instead of "hot chocolate" - who on earth came up with the idea of making hot chocolate without milk???

Hey biggrin hug

Haven't started hooping, but Sunbird bought me a pretty diabolo, and I'll try how that is to my wrists!

The right hand has actually most of the feeling back, which is good, cause I won't be seen by a doctor for 5 months at least. The left hand is still really annoying - it's some type of inflammation, but I've heard so many different things about what it COULD be that I really don't know what it actually is wink

How are you? And why are we building you a fortress?

I'm already dropping much less stuff smile The last thing was a beaker filled with bleach, and the drops missed my face by not very much eek... maybe that gave my hand an impulse to stop being so annoying!

Hmmmm... trolls... can I have the ones that fall into the ditch? They might be helpful in my world domination army!

Will be looking into staff things again smile Though the diabolo is cool, too... wayyyyy too much to do in too little time. As always...

Juggling society's gonna start again in 2 weeks or so, so will have to organise workshops and meetings and freshers week and all that stuff!

YAYYAYYAY! The conference (and my presentation) is over, I got 100 squid from the Colt (lung research) foundation for presenting the talk, and the chairman fell off the stage after introducing me. This was actually one of the few situations I had never considered before the talk, and was entirely unprepared for. ubblol

I'm working on a project to replace animal testing in inhalation toxicology by cell culture methods (little lung cells in little dishes), using different types of lung cells. So most of the time I'm stuck in the cell culture room with blue gloves on shrug

What I did was, to think a few seconds whether I should laugh, or run and help him, or run away and hide somewhere. Apparently I "didn't laugh too much" (quote Prof), and I didn't run away, so that was good ubblol Although, if I ever see that guy again, I probably won't be able to keep a straight face...
