I was always scared with my mother's obsession with the good scissors. It made me wonder if there were evil scissors lurking in the house somewhere.

Do not meddle in the affairs of dragons for you are crunchy and good with ketchup.

My state of mind is not yours to define!

There is a very fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness."

You say your friend can do BTB five beat weave after only three months!? That's incredible I only just finally mastered the reverse five beat weave today but no way could I even do a two beat weave BTB.

Yeah I got into fire as soon as poss. I saw a bloke poi-ing it large with fire on a beach in the summer and thought it looked fun so I went home made some tennis ball and string pois and practised with those. 4 months later at xmas I got my fire pois and gallon of paraffin...so I lit up. Have you lit up yet, you should, it's awsome devil

My favourite move would have to be a tie between the 5 beat weave (cos I could do it for hours just watching a continous stream of pois going in front of me) and my between the legs moves (cos it makes the crowd go ooooooohwow). What about you?

ball chain is best by far. Cable is worst by far.

If you can get stainles steel ball chain it's better than plated (chrome, zinc etc) and will last lots lots longer

ditto I concur with bug, ball chain is the way to go. And also with the stainless steel ones, I don't have them and mine started going rusty after I left them outside for one night (and it hadn't even rained!).
Also, make sure you practice with the heavier of your pois, cos I did loads of prctice with my comets and then when I did a show the my fire pois they felt really weird and I spooned most of my moves. So practice with the heavier ones cos the light weight ones are easier to get used to after using a heavier pair.

ditto I agree, use stainless steel ball-chains; mine aren't SSteel and they started to rust after only one night outside (and it didn't even rain!).
Also, mike sure you practice with the heavier of your pois cos they're hard to get used to after using light weight ones, but light weight are easy to use even after only ever using heavy ones. I learnt the hard way and burnt quite a lot of my own hair off while putting on a fire show after having not even picked up my fire opis for a while cool

Heehee, thanks for the tips. I have been weighting my tennis balls down with washers, and they feel basically normal now. In fact, I used my LEDs the other night and they were SO light that I didn't have to work at all! It was a really cool feeling - too bad it can't happen all the time. frown
I'm going to make a crappy pair of chains to get me through 'til my good ones arrive and if they are strong enough (I'm going to give them some serious testing) a friend and I may light up tonight...ooooooh. ubbloco
