and yes, people do have fire fetishes. usually results in arson, but there are a few other things people end up doing with it.

and i think we had a thread about similar subjects....it's an interesting read.

you know, i have thought about the names of stuff before.

for example, i bet nearly everyone has heard of arachnophobia (intense fear of spiders) and/or claustrophobia (intense fear of closed in spaces). then there is the philia, with a necrophile, being someone that practices necrophilia, being someone that enjoys making love with dead people.

would a claustrophiliac enjoy making love with tight places, or in tight places?
Is a philiaphobic someone that is scared of making love, or someone that loves fear?

thats a whole lot less on topic than i thought it would be, but oh well.

(my apologies to any/all people that take offense to this post)

philia translates to "the love of"

so a claustrophiliac would love small spaces, not necessarily love having sex in small places. and a philiaphobic, my guess, would be someone who is scared of loving something.

Don't ask me, i cant even see the avatars!

I have an unhealthy obsession with fire. Especially fire spinning very close to me. I love it.

Plus, everyone looks good by firelight. devil

Yep, Isaac Asimov (theres a reference to it on wikipedia.com I think) was a legendary Claustrophile, When I was young I used to love turning myself the wrong way round while I was in bed and making the sheets as tight as possible, felt safe. I grew out of it. Its a womb thing I guess. Its strange because my mom has extreme claustrophobia

Whats the difference between a pyromaniac and a pyrophile... can you be pyrophobic?

is there a word for people who love to spin things?

Aiiiiiie! My eyes! It burns!

Hey, I didnt know, ok. Im a fan of FFVII and this appealed to me. I thought that VT had an unaniamated Sephiroth.

A pyromaniac burns things in order to watch things burn in order for destruction. A pyrophile will jack off while watching.... tongue I.e he likes the fire itself.

My staffs name is Roxanne, it being somewhat of a phallic symbol in itself, does it mean that its a transgender staff and I do have a fetish after all?

getting back onto topic here, i have found no end of info on people with fire fetish's, not so sure about poi/spinning though, can one get off on poi? either watching or playing? I'd be interested to find out how it affects people, I dont play with poi but I do really really enjoy watching, I find it almost hypnotic and easy to focus on and differnet people have provoked different emotional reactions from me, some very intense, not sexual though. yet. This does not include watching someone I fancy spinning poi. Focus gets a bit blurred there.

I could imagine poi-ing with someone you like hugging you could do it for some people...

closeness of people... and whizzing of poi, smell of paraffin, hmmm.... could work confused
