i know i'm not the only person for whom HoP has been really slow over the last 48 hours, some people can't access it at all. It's not a local thing either, both people from UK and US are having problems. What's going on? ubbcrying

Agreed. It's a nightmare to get any continuity and I've lost posts. I also was unable to buy anything cuz the pages kept loading so slowly and then crashing.

Is HoP unwell?

Well, shall we go?
Yes, let's go.

Uh... not about the fact that HoP is sick, but I got on! I've been trying for two days, and I got on! Whooohoo! But no one else has really been on, so now I'm sitting here. But I'm on, which makes me happy!

It has been slow for me, but that just means that it takes as much as 30 seconds to load a page, rather than the ususal 5 or so. So it's just mildly annoying, rather than a major inconvenience.

I'll see if I can talk to some of my friends in the Jewish World Conspiracy and see if we can't get it taken care for ya. ubblol

SOMETHING IS SERIOUSLY WRONG HERE GUYS! IT KEEPS CRASHING WHEN I TRY TO LOAD PAGES! It does it whether I'm at work or at home... It keeps losing my posts when I post them (I have to "COPY" before I hit "CONTINUE" because it keeps crashing and it usually takes me 2 or 3 times to actually get a post through... I've never seen it like this in 3 years...

FYI, youse are now experiencing part of the messed up saga that is Telstra.
They are a massive 'mostly' goverment owned aussie telco that is horribly lacking in many places, especially in poor service /general indifference to regional oztralia and silly policy on bandwidth (esp broadband.)
Me no like telstra, but they own a lot of Australia's wires.
..oh and they kill kittens too, didn'tyaknowthatalready! frown

whilst telstra in still being discussed on HoP - I'll say that the current govt wants to sell what shares it has whilst services are still up the creek (going to war was more expensive than Howard thought - who'd have thunk it?). Who knows how HoP's bandwidth will be affected if Telstra is fully operated in private hands.
This would be a bigger election issue if domestic policy wasn't overshadowed by anti-refugee nastiness.
May sanity prevail.

Privatized will probably be better aslong as there isn't a giant monopoly, and some rules to prevent a giant monopoly from forming. Governments have a way of stuffing things up when they subsidize them.

I guess that makes you a newbie... I remember of a time before avatars altogether... and even before that when we would just hand write our posts in mamoth blood on the cave walls. wink

Yes, HoP seems to be a whole lot quicker. Thanks to all the tech kids involved in its recovery.

Well, shall we go?

i'm afraid to say anything for fear of it going slow again!

but while we're at it, i'm still getting threads showing that there are new posts when i've already checked it. sooo annoying. the crap part too is when it finally stops doing that, it won't show any new posts, not even ones i haven't checked yet. frown
