Well, I suppose I should get round to making an intro thread for this newfangled board really, so here goes:

Name: Rory

Sex: Male

Age: 24 going on 6

Favourite Bands:

Super Furry Animals
Leftfield
Lemon Jelly
Reel Big Fish
Bjork
Loads of stuff really.

Favourite Films:

Batman
Spirited Away
Delicatessen
Amelie
Dr No
Cheesy war films (the guns of navarone, the bridge on the river kwai etc....)

Favourite Books:

Are you Dave Gorman - Dave Gorman
Das Boot - Lothar-Gunther Buchheim
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas
Anything by Bill Bryson

Favourite Thundercat: Hmm, Cheetara. Or maybe Tigra, since he had the cool whip that could make him invisible.

Favourite Toy: My huge purple muppetskin poi, or my balloons, I'm not sure.

That'll do for now. Feel free to post inane semi-gibberish in here, I'm sure UCOF would do anyway, so you might as well join in wink

But there's no sense crying over every mistake. You just keep on trying till you run out of cake.

Ok, I've got a little test for you:
Get a pen and some paper and write the word 'money'.
Ok, did you accidentally put a 'k' after the 'n'?
I do all the time ubbloco It's annoying until I realise just how stupid it is.

I think my money t-shirt count is up to 4 now.
a dirty monkey one with a picture of a monkey eastwood holding a magnum
one with a cybermonkey robot head kind of thing on the front
one with the publicity still from The Usual Suspects on the front, but it's got monkeys in the identity parade instead of the actors
last, but by no means least, is the 'are you plagued by flying monkeys' one biggrin

Sort of, I'm not sure now I've been working on my handwriting.
I can certainly write better with my feet than UCOF can with his feet smile

Yeah, I forgot that one about sleeping on the floor. I should really mention that it's because my bed's covered in stuff I moved from the floor when I was sorting it out. That and it being better for my back since my matress is too soft.
Actually, over the last couple of days I've also been testing out a couple of my christmas presents: a lightweight quilt and a sleeping bag liner - I'm starting to get ready for jetting off around the world now biggrin:D:D:D

I wonder how I forgot those points too? Very curious tongue
Yep, it's certainly working hug

Well, I try, but my spellng realy isn't that fantistic wink
Simian drew that avatar, when he was supposed to be at work I think - bad monkey. But er.. good monkey for drawing it.
Hmm, I'm going to become a ninja one day? Interesting, very interesting. I shall have to work on my whole 'wandering around without being seen or heard', I'm not too good at that right now.
I don't know how many sleeps there are until I get to Melbourne, but there's only 35 until I fly away from this country for the altogether much warmer New Zealand biggrin

That's really impressive Charles, and so is the rest of the gallery it's in.

I've not actually got to the stage of spending hours on one model yet - the last time I spent hours playing with latex (that sounds far too dodgy smile), the place was littered with loads of one, two or three balloon models. It was loads of fun trying to carry them all home, we eventually gave most of them to the bar staff for putting up with all the latex on latex squealing sounds biggrin

The longest I've ever spent on one model so far was about an hour, for the Wile. E. Coyote I made to accompany the road runner. The books I have for some reason show you how to make a road runner but not how to make his arch-nemesis, so I had to work it out myself, which was what took all the time.
Plus, I had to make the plunger type thing to go with the ACME dynamite smile

Hugs to everyone, because I'm feeling generous: hug hug hug hug hug hug hug hug hug hug

Hello

i just thought i'd pop in and say "Hello"

i am having a strange day at work
being both good monkey and bad monkey in various ways ubbangel
today i have told a cio (more senior than my bosses) that
"anyone here who enjoys their job has got to be a bit sick in the head."
he was forced to agree. that was quite funny ubbtickled

anyway enough of that... onto the THREE ISSUES OF GREAT IMPORT

1. Your avatar makes me feel dizzy

2. jon and weasel think monkey fists + nesbit staffs = bad idea. Are they correct?

3. Does "raison d'etre" mean "it's got raisins in it" ?

i, sir, yours, awaiting your faithful reply, with regards, sincerely.

Spinning like my avatar makes me dizzy. Very dizzy. I learnt this again at Spitz last tuesday, but it doesn't stop me having to re-learn the next week smile

I agree with jon and weasel that monkey fists + nesbits = bad idea.
However, I also think that cathedral wicks or tubecore wicks + nesbits = bad idea.
To find out what I think is a good idea when combined with nesbits, have a look at this thread from the old boards

It's got a link to a page with some pictures on - I reckon you want some of the cool knotted up wicks on your nesbits.

No, "raison d'etre" does not mean "it's got raisins in it".
It in fact means 'it's got raisons in it', raisons being small worm-like things that like to crawl around in baked goods in the hope of being eaten and thus completing that particular phase of their life cycle.
Once inside the gut, they migrate towards the nose of the carrier where they sit and wait, occasionally feasting on some of the blood squirting around in the capilaries in the nose, peeking out the nostrils until they see any dough being made.
Upon seeing some dough, they launch themselves out of the nostril, burrowing into the dough and laying eggs covered with a protective shell, so they can survive being cooked and eaten, and then lie dormant until eaten.

That's all true y'know.

Ask Cassandra, I think she took a photo or two of it. Actually, it was on her request that I try to make one smile

I didn't have a camera at the time and I've not made another one since - I don't have any balloons that are a suitable colour. The one I made was mainly black, for some reason I had loads of them in the bag I'd just opened. The plunger thing's a bit rubbish, I ran out of black balloons and was in a rush, next time I make it, I'll make sure I do it properly.

I might buy a bag of brown balloons so that I can make myself a decent one, but I'll have to get that sorted pretty quickly I suppose, I don't have long left before I leave.
