Well, as my original intro was lost, I guess I get the chance to redo my room!!! Feel free to come on in, just PLEASE take your shoes off at the door! Thank you. smile

Well here's me (again)... biggrin

*NAME- Amanda

*SEX- female

*AGE- 23

*LOCATION- Hmmm... a tricky one! Currently in Durham. I spend my summers in France (miles from civilization), and spring and autumn in Wales (do sheep count as civilization? If so, then a thriving community!) ubblol

*FAV. TOYS- at the moment my fire poi, but also my juggling balls, diabolo, my new staff, guitar, mountain bike, and of course my beloved kayak!...too many more to mention!

*TWIRLING SINCE- learned bits of stuff since 2000, but only really got into it this year. I was on crutches for 3wks, after dislocating my knee (ow!), so I spent all the time learning new poi stuff (every cloud has a silver lining eh?).

*OCCUPATION- Outdoor Activity Instructor/ river guide

*HOBBIES- naturally my poi and stuff, but also do lots of kayaking, canoeing, climbing, mountain biking, snowboarding, and bits of other sports.

*FAV. PLACE- Specific favourite one is sat on the edge of the cliff, overlooking the gorge where I work in France, with nothing around for miles apart from the wild boar, and watching either the sunset in the distance, or one of the impressive lightning storms we have.

I also love anywhere where I can sit on a mountain or beside a river, hearing nothing but the noises of nature. A BIG reminder of the beauty of it all... ubblove

Anyway, thats pretty much me in a nutshell! Feel free to come and chill in my room- its a great place for relaxing and being at one with nature! (and who said i was a hippie?! peace ). On the plus side, tea and cakes are supplied for free!!! And if i'm feeling generous i may even let Narr in with her weird marmite/chocolate spread mix! euch!

Catch you all soon, wave

Mand.

Mand, control myself? rolleyes: Not likely. The only reason that nothing has happened is because I have been sick and the computer that I use is at work.

There hasn't been an opportunity! Yet!

Mand, you list many of the reasons I became a geologist, though it sounds like you get to enjoy nature a lot more than I do.

Perhaps I should become an outdoor activity instructor as well. biggrin (sounds like fun)

Anyway, 'allo.

Hey spitfire, yeah it is a cool job and lots of fun.
biggrinI do kinda miss my uni days of studying rocks tho- i got to go to some really wicked places. The best one was probably travelling around the Sahara desert in Tunisia, on camels most of the time, doing a study on barchan dunes, and digging soil pits. biggrin
What do you do with your geology degree?

Right now I work for Corporate America. Bleh.

I work in the oil field, on the services side. Not my choice job, but it pays the bills, and until we can find some way to make platics without petroleum products, then it's a necessary evil.

I think I'd rather do what you do...*snicker* Can you get me a job??

Unfortunately, the pay isnt great. But you do get accomodation (tent in france!), food, etc. provided. We get roughly £100 a wk ontop of this. It does mean i get to play and act like a 7yr old all day! Wohoo! ubbloco biggrin I also manage to come back from the summers with sunbleached hair and an amazing tan! Always worth it! wink biggrin
Everyone always asks me for a job. It does sound a good job (and is), but you can't lead your normal house, family, job type life- which is great for me!!!

WTF! I had to dig all the way to pg 4 to find my thread! How did it end up there?

Anyway pounce, the questions i have (or anyone else if you're reading this)
I have the avatar i want, on paintshop pro. But how do i know what size it is? What size is allowed? confused
(yes, i really am this bad with computers!) biggrin
If i get this figured out first, then more questions will certainly follow! I'm determined to get it to work though! biggrin

well once you have it saved, go into your documents (or whatever folder you saved it under) and you can see how big it is (if you have details selected under the view menu). ummm, if you have to scale it down, it would kinda depend on what program you're using in order to do that. if you want, you can email it to me, i can scale it down for ya, and then email it back.

Heya Mand,

So I'm heading to the UK to visit a very dear person.

We'll be spending our time down near Brighton. As for plans, well, we've got a day in London, and I'm going to take a riding lesson, and....some other stuff which *smirk* I'll just keep to myself.

I'm intrigued! Not like you to keep much to yourself!!! spank
Aw, shame i live at the complete other end of the country to Brighton- would have been good to meet you if you had time.
I may be moving down to kent, to stay with Joe Sixteps for a while, but it will be after new year if it happens.
Well anyway, have fun while you're over here honey! kiss

I plan on having lots of fun. I do wish I had the time to travel the country and meet up with the HoP folk I know...but alas, I don't.

Anyway, It'll be cold for me, but it'll be fun. I like the thought of having a Dickens visit to England. It gets the creative juices flowing.

the US is a big place. And southern Texas rarely is freezing. If it does get that way, it is usually only at night and we think it is horribly miserable and start wonding how people who live at higher latitudes can stand such horrible weather and why they stand for it.

El - the huge vat of marmite is in the cupboard- help yourself sweetie. Cheese?! Er yeah go for it!
(Hey hopefully i may get to meet you again if i come back to kent- Joe wants me to move in, but i don't know whether thats possible. I take it you're spending a bit more time there lately! spank Hehe, nice one girl! kiss)

Well I seem to be having such a hectic time at the moment (and not just cos its xmas).
We've had A LOT of rain the past couple of days, and discovered that we have a hole in the roof. Water has dripped down the inside of the walls unnoticed, and has now taken a sections of ceiling down in the living room and the dining room!!! (and we have 12 of us here on xmas day!!!)
Then, I escaped from the talk about what to do about it, and went in the shower. I suddenly realised I could smell burning and, grabbing a towel to keep my modesty, I ran out the bathroom to find the kitchen was on fire!!!!! eek
Also, my Nanna is really old, and she was taken into hospital last night. She's become ill again, and we don't know whether she'll make it till xmas, but we're keeping fingers crossed. ubbcrying
Oh, and I havn't managed to buy any presents yet!

Sheesh, bring on the quiet life! ubblol
