i have stumbled along a move that most likely already exists, so i'm curious as to what it may be called.
the staff stays behind your back the entire time and moves either anti-clockwise or clockwise from your bum up to your head, switching hands and down the other side, whilst twirling through your hands/fingers.
it looks like a windmill, except the stick's centre orbits around your body on a vertical axis behind your back.

hmmm

That's a favourite of mine, I call a pinwheel.

It can go REALLY fast with practice too. But it's got this magical natural flow to it as well aye?

And did you know, if you do it fast enough, and someone takes a photo, it looks like the danger symbol for nuclear hazards???

Like this shot here... Pinwheel beneath the Skytower

yeah, itas a beutyt, favriot begginers move, lovely phote C.

try turning in and out of it at the top, bit of a head cruncher if you get it wrong, but looks good.

Do this 25/30 times in each direction, good shoulder workout

sometimes i'll bring it to the front in each hand for a quick weave. it makes it look as though its doing more rotations than actually possible.

Beaut photo, charles!!

An awesome variant is the horizontal pinwheel from a forward crouch position. The audience is presented with a fiery daisy 2' off the ground!

Um...If the pinwheel is horizontal wouldn't that mean the audience only gets to see an edge of it?

Like looking at a tyre on its side from the front, all you will see is the tread?

erm i see what you mean, mate!
to elaborate,
the pinwheel is still whirring in the same 'path' realtive to the twirler's back. In a croush, it is the twirler's back that is horizontal -and hence the staff's path too.
:wishes he was in nuzuland to explain it in person:

pretty much Coleman.
I've heard it called a Windmill as well.

now try this...at the top, move it horizontal, do a helicopter toss and then carry it down again.
I can't get it smoothe yet but I know it looks decent enough!

Behind the back tosses are easy...

its the mad dash across the ground to to where it's coming down again that's hard for me...
