well, im making my first fire poi, and i have almost everything complete except for the wicks. (this site has been very usefull!! ) Im looking for kevlar here in ecuador, but in all hardware stores they have no idea what im talking about. I dont know any fire spinners here (not many of them) so i was wondering if anyone can help me with the name of kevlar in spanish (if there is such thing) or any other good option for wick besides towell.
Posted: muy buenas regulae well, here in madrid i buy it under the same name, kevlar, but in specialised juggling shops. you could also try under "mecha para lamparas de aceite(petroleo?)", it's the closest i got, but it has one problem, it doesn't have any metal wire and is usually made out of cotton... so when spun it tends to burn away and opens, or little burning bits start to fly around, not nice... hope it helped... abrazos SaBBaS

Posted: Kevlar and Nomex are trade names, and (according to a Google search I just did) crop up as-is in a lot of Spanish-language web pages.
I'd be surprised if any hardware stores carried the stuff. I've never seen it at any here; I order it online.
