Been serching my butt up & down this forum and even tried google for christ sake. So can someone please tell me of any experiences to which fuel is best suited for body-burning/tracing?

Appreciate it, folks!
Love you all!

It is also called pooling and painting but most commonly Trailing....and you are right there are a tonne of topics on it already. (Someone needs to figure out a concise search by vague subject matter aye? ).

Low flashpoint, high fume fuels are best. The thing with these that you have to watch out for, other than the extreme volitility of the fuel is that they burn VERY hot.

White gas or Naphtha fuel (Zippo or Ronsonal) are the fuels of my choice. It has a robust flame and strong fumes which maintain the flame for several seconds before burning away (and into your skin).

Several people also choose alcohol but for me it's burn in this case is too hot for not enough yield. It evaporates very quickly and burn a not well seen, short lived blue flame.

funny this should come up, as i was at a party last night with a few people intent on setting fire to themselves with hairspray, dispite my protests. Really really bad idea, esp when the carpet got set on fire!

Heh. Fireballs with one of those huge lighters.

Make a fist around the dispenser of the fuel, open the fuel like but don't spark the lighter.

Then open your hand and light the lighter really fast next to your hand.

Result: Big flame

take it one step further (this may get edited, but meh)
put a long ended lighter in your mouth.
let out gas.
hold for a while, holding your breath.
take lighter out.
light lighter.
blow out gas.

note: i do not recomend this

Then why post it?

I think this is pretty hazardous in that some types of lighter fuel can kill if inhaled (as little as one inhalation).

I agree with Onewheel on that one. Putting liquid fuel in your mouth is bad enough, but inhaling fumes and breathing them out into an open flame? That's just stupid and asking for trouble.
First off blow back is almost inevitable. Secondly, you have no idea what the butane could do to your mouth and lungs.
Majorly stupid man...

Hes not saying to inhale it. I do that trick all the time, its an easy show off in a bar or living room.

Heres a lil tip to make the trick better: Instead of blowing the butane out into a flame, tilt your head back so your mouth is facing up, then open your mouth slightly lighting the vapors, and let the fuel out slowly allowing the flame to stay burning on your lips for a few seconds. If done too much, your lips will get rather burnt up doing this so dont over do it.

Of course, this trick is still dangerous. Butane isnt great to inhale but its not gonna kill you instantly if you accidentally take some in. Its just like any of the other crap we do here. Everyone should, by now. know their limits and know how to do things as safely as possible. If they dont, well, they probably deserve the consequences.

Butane has been implicated in sudden deaths3,4, ventricular tachycardia5 and stroke6.

The mechanism of action is thought to be due to displacement of oxygen, sensitisation of the myocardium to catecholamines and vasospasm. We believe that some, or a combination of these factors resulted in our patient suffering a myocardial infarction and ventricular fibrillation.

There's many well documented deaths resulting from substance abusers inhaling butane. Admittedly it probably involves large amounts, but to me it still suggests that 'accidentally taking some in' could cause death in some individuals.

I do body burning and I use parrafin as my fuel. I find it does not burn to hot when running the flame along the skin. Just be carefull when you run it along the skin that the screws holding your wick on are facing away from you as these heat up fast and can burn you.
Also about that lighter trick when me and a mate were traveling around Australia there was a bloke in are hostel that tried to do that trick and he ended up burning the inside of his mouth. I advise you not to try it.

There's a fine line between bravery and stupidity. And, I've known people who encompass the old saying "If you're going to be stupid, you've got to be tough."
Now, please tell me why it would be posted on here for some youngin' to get a hold of and possibly burn their face off? That kind of reckless practice is what you see on shows like "Jackass" and inside trailer parks in drunken circles of people doing dumb things.
Tsk tsk tsk.
This kind of irresponsibility in the fire performance community is what will eventually give everyone a bad name. The moderators should take these postings off this thread.
