So I Finally got myself some contact poi. I went with the 72mm ball.
I've found it its' not that easy to roll them along your arm! I thought they'd just do it themselves tbh.. well.. hopeful aren't I? smile

How do I go about learning to do this. Have any of you bought them without knowing how and learnt? Should I have bought a contact ball first?

Bah, 72mm is horribly smaaall lawl. I've actually found that it gets easier the larger the contact poi. Personal preference is 90mm, which seem to be a nice intermediate size, but that's not so common. I started out with contact using 80mm.

Aside from that, it's really just a whole lot of practice until you get the feel for doing arm rolls, at which point yes, they really just do it by themselves. smirk
(Still not at that point haha)

Being completely unable to do any sort of arm rolling using just a contact ball, I don't think it's really necessary to learn contact juggling beforehand - I've always thought that was a pretty different beast, but someone who actually does contact poi and contact juggling would know more.

^ pretty much. you're gonna need some light handles if you're using 72mm. 80-100mm balls seem ideal,

in any case in regards to learning some contact moves,
there are a few videos that may help.

for learning the fishtail, i recommend noel's tutorial:

then i'd suggest learning forearm rolls, probably from drex?

and i'm gonna shamelessly put some of my vids here for forearm rolls wink
though they're more like demo's than tutorials
