So I thought I would share the craziness of the weekend

Friday morning I heard that they were casting for the new Johnny Depp movie here in Milwaukee. Wohoo! but you need a trench coat and your hair curled...grrr. But then I hear of the audition for extras in Oshkosh the next day. Oshkosh? hmmm

So I curl my hair up in rags and poke around for trenchcoatiness-I know I suck as a goth, no trench. Drive up there stand in line for two hours with a gym full of people and people outside and the girls look frozen cause some of them dressed as flappers. They heard us into a room and give us a quick speech. Boys: grow out your hair. Girls: We are going to cut your hair SHORT. Many girls look unsure. Everyone: NO TANNING! You can see some of these girls quail in fear. short hair and no tanning. So I think with that little speech my chances greatly improved. We won't hear for about a month whether we will get to be nonspeaking extras

Then a small rush to take a picture when they tell you not to smile-have you tried not to smile when they tell you not to...it gets very hard.

On the way home all was well. And then the bf took the car to the store and the water pump went. I missed work on Monday and had to lay out $250 and then the electric company called and wants the past due amount...but I don't have it so I avoided the call till I have something to tell them or till friday

Now the headgasket went and I have no food no rent

And to top off how things suck: People here think it is okay to be slanderous against my faith. Sorry, I'm Catholic. If I said anything against some alternative belief system I would be attacked or told that it wasn't fair. But Christianity is a free for all. I really thought that this sort of board would be more open minded but the fact taht such things are said and no one says that it isn't shows me that I was very wrong.

I'm now lurking and I really don't know if I'm going to stay around. Which I suppose isn't that big a deal as I don't contribute much anyways. I used to tell people this was a great board. I don't know that I can do that at this point. My friends, I'll have to tell them that our faith is ridiculed and mostly no one says anything. Yeah, I reacted strongly but people claim openminded here. Maybe that's true. But I haven't seen it.

I'm Catholic and proud of it. Some teasing is fine but the slanderous things said here because people believe all the hateful things said by other who don't know what they are talking about, it's not right

So whatever

a rampaging catholic kazoo army... armed with only a cross, rosary beads and a mighty kazoo... I can't wait to see how this one pans out...!!

faith, the internet has a bad habit of allowing people to converse, without conveying the nuances of face-to-face verbal expression; no tone of voice, no body language etc (and yes, I know I'm not saying anything that you don't already know). and, without having read the posts in question (cos I've been mostly lurking lately too, and not very much of that), I'm sure most people are merely trying to express opinion with no malicious intent; often, this includes attempts at humour, which fail due to the above-mentioned lack of nuance.

that said... some people are just ar$eholes.

oh... and in case I missed the mark just like everybody else, my opening line was a possibly misguided attempt at humour.

Can I still play though?

I vote for a rowdy chorus of "I do like to be beside the seaside". A tune which sounds best played on the Kazoo. biggrin
