Hello. My name is Gil and I live in Sacramento, CA (USA).

I went to my first-ever Burning Man event this year (2007) and have since been fascinated with the art of poi. I would like to meet others in my community who already know how to spin poi, and who would be willing to teach me the proper moves.

Thank you.

I'm Mike, also one of the resident Burners on this board.

And there's this lovely template to let us know about yourself. First thread in this forum.

Please do answer the very last question of the template (all other questions are optional/addable/deletable). Failure to answer that question correctly could result in dire consequences, such as experiencing the Chinese water torture with Nutella. devil biggrin

welcome to HOP! hug i'd teach you, but i'm also a wee bit away from you.

I was always scared with my mother's obsession with the good scissors. It made me wonder if there were evil scissors lurking in the house somewhere.

Do not meddle in the affairs of dragons for you are crunchy and good with ketchup.

welll, the answer SHOULD be marmite of course but then I have just been reminded of the ancillary spready goodness of Lemon Honey... aaahhhhhhh

but I digress - wavehello and welcome to HoP. For your well-being and sanity, please keep your arms and legs (and other extremities) firmly inside the vehicle at all times.

I have several large jars of the stuff. I actually like it... a little. And don't tell anyone I admitted to it.

Greetings all!

My name is Sequoia. I am a local fire performer associated with a group, Obsidian Butterfly. We have been performing, spinning, and dancing with fire here in Sacramento since 2002 and are one of the original fire dance community based and theatrical groups in the area. We began doing professional shows in 2003 and teaching the art in 2006. We hold classes in Fire Safety, Poi, Staff, Hoop, Fans, Yoga, and Fire Dance. We also maintain a professional performers and safeties for hire list professionals seeking a community to connect with.

For those community oriented fire dancers, each year near August 8th, on the first Full Moon of the month, we host an annual fire festival in downtown Sacramento, called the Fire Spectacular. There are vendors, live music, fire performance, and more. We are always on the lookout for talented fire dancers interested in performing at the Fire Spectacular.

For 2011, the 4th Annual Fire Spectacular will happen on Saturday August 13th at the William Land Park Amphitheatre. We are currently seeking acts. Please contact if interested.

If you live in the Sacramento area and interested in connecting with a unique group of fire performers, please visit our website, join the mailing list, and say hello!

Many blessings!
