Who do you think it is?
I think that it is Superman, not because he is practically a god among men, but the reason that his entire way of hiding his superhero identity was by wearing glasses. No mask, no fancy costume, no secret HQ. He Simply wears his costume underneath his clothes 24/7 and then steps in to a phone booth to change. Plus he works at a very popular Newspaper and nobody was able to figure it out his identity. Now, yes there were other heroes who didn't attempt to hide there identity Like the Fantastic Four. But those don't count. Think of all the costumed/masked heroes whose entire lives consisted of tryin to hide there true identity, and the villians who created devious ploys to unmask them. But, Superman, was able to move freely about as Clark Kent and nobody could figure it out.

Just because he was able to hide his identity isn't grounds for making him the best super hero IMO, and the newspaper thing, well peter parker worked at a newspaper as well, as a photographer of himself in action, did superman ever take a photo of himself knowing full well it would be used to portray him in a negative light? Granted spiderman wears a mask although he did publicly unmask himself in the comic series in june of 2006.
And what about the x-men? Even though wolverine wears a mask in action he also displays his abilities outside of the team (in a somewhat reckless manner).
This is going to spark off a whole DC vs Marvel thing isn't it? Well I'm going to side with marvel as I'm spiderman fan.

As for deadpool, no doubt, he's cool, possibly one of the coolest characters to come from the mighty entity that is marvel, but he wasn't exactly a hero all the time was he, after all, he worked for kingpin, fighting to remain in his favour even.

I'm a Kabuki fan m'self. She has honour, kicks butt, has a great storyline and amazing art. She does it in a mask and spandex, but has really good reason for it all (not just to hide). Goooo David Mack!

Punisher. 'Nuff said.
The Crow. Draven. The O'Barr original.

But then I'm a sucker for the dark hero with the heart string yanking backstory well over blue and yellow spandex or wearing underwear on the outside of the tights.

However, if I have to choose "mainstream", I have a hard time choosing.
Gambit. He can charge and 'splode things, manipulate cards and do it all in a cajun accent. Mmmmm-hmmmmmmm

Nightcrawler. When used and displayed well his agility and bampf ability is truly kick butt.

Beast. I dunno, there's something strangely sexy about a strong man in blue fur who likes to hang upside down in a prison cell and read Civil Disobedience. Then again, I'm a sucker for brainiacs too. wink

Daredevil has super sences.

The ultimate super hero(s) i think has got to be the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. If we are talking just ability to hide their identity these guys have it covered, trench coat and a hat and they can get pizza from any place they want.

If we are talking ass kickery they still got it because they have been, and are still being, trained by Master Splinter who knows the ways of the ancient ninja.

I completely and utter agree with you. And as for best villian - Dr Horrible. For the complete opposite - everyone hates him but inside he's a lovely person.

Buffy. Does she count? I think she counts.

On the DC/Marvel question I'd have to come down on the Marvel side as I have been an X-Men fan forever. For me, it's a toss-up between Nightcrawler & Kitty Pryde.

Ade, I think you would dig Kabuki.

Captain Hammer...NOOOOOOOOOOO! He can't count cause all he's got is his penis, and his hair blowing in the wind.

khan, I like Faith better than Buffy. She kicked lots more heiney, well...would of if not for the pesky incarceration thing.

Phoenix/Jean Grey!

Can save the universe, delete timelines. Look very fiery whilst doing it. Alter matter at a sub-atomic level - turning a tree to gold or changing costomes. Kill 5 billion and a star system, and kinda get away with it (see below)

Can never die... (well, stay dead... I think she's due for a resurrection any day now)

All of the above and NOT above getting into a psychic catfight with Emma Frost when she tries to nick her husband.

Pele ~ Faith is more my girl than Buffy too, really. But her (albeit, temporary) descent into the dark side and Buffy's creation of the Slayer army (granted, with help) is what bumped her up in my book. It was a very close call, the deliberations were intense.

I'd much rather hang out with Faith than Buffy though. smile

well yes that would be my vote for best villian. i figure the two work as a unique nemesis team. as one acts 'good' but is a bad person, and the other acts bad but is a 'good' person. blurring the lines always make by favourite characters smile

you know when he said that i couldnt help thinking how much it would hurt having a hammer stuck there. :shurgs: but dont forget he also has super strength ala "captain hammer threw a car at my head" tongue2 also he has the very noticable ability to charm people past his cheesy egotistical true self into being worshipped. i'm sure plenty of pollies would kill for that, perhaps even smothering an old lady.

I'm just gonna randomly throw in the Daredevil since his only weakness (loosely saying for the sake of a joke) would be wearing ear plugs/muffs on a sick day.

Poje: kinda depends on which side of the fence you sit on. You could argue that the x-men are just the next step in the evolotionary chain.
