Hello, all - still learning my way around, so I'll thank you to bear with me. smile

The name's Dennis, and I've wanted to learn staffwork for a long time. I'm also an accomplished chain maille artist and a talented runecaster.

But hey; let's use the automatic form that comes up when you register. smile

Name: Dennis.

Country: The United States of Whatever (has anyone else heard this song?)

DOB: A long time ago.

Hometown: A galaxy far, far away.

Age: 32

Sex: Male

Occupation(s): *groan* Technical Support for Tax Depreciation Software

Favorite Food(s): *shrugs* Sushi, I guess, at the moment.

Favorite Color(s): Blue! No, wait....(*gets launched off bridge*)

Toys: My computer, my WoW account, my gadgets...

Hobbies other than the obvious: Chain Maille, primarily. https://ferromancer.home.comcast.net - not a sales site in the least, just a collection of pics of the pieces I've made.

Education: Bachelor of Arts, Communications - Canisius College, Buffalo NY.

Favorite Book(s): McCullough's Webmage books, Jim Butcher's Dresden series, Tolkien's Lord of the Rings books, Herbert's Dune, and too many others to count.

Favorite Movie(s): Equilibrium, Forbidden Kingdom, LotR

Favorite TV show(s): Avatar, House

Plans for life in general: (i.e. what you want to do when you grow up) Write a book (a GOOD one this time...), make maille, be able to enjoy life without working

Favorite Music Artists/Composers: Too varied. Next question.

Favorie ice cream flavor(s): Cookies and Cream.

Edit: Just read the post above. Here's what I missed:

Birthday (sign?): I was born in the month of the Bull, in the year of the Dragon.

What is the wing speed of an unladen swallow? What do you mean; an African or a European Swallow?

Godzilla vs. a Star Wars Star Destroyer. Who wins? Why? I would say the Star Destroyer, but as I don't want to get stepped on by serendipity, I'll say Godzilla.

Do you think these pants make my butt look too big? Baby, you know I love you just the way you are.

Marmite, Vegemite, or Nutella?* Never had any of the above.

Welcome to HoP!

The correct answer to the last question is marmite, but I'll forgive you if you've never had any of them. You'd have known if you had.

I'm with you on not having heard of marmite or vegemite (we had nutella in Germany when I was growing up). Also, excellent choice of books, am a big Jim Butcher fan.

Thing is, I don't drink, so I don't think I'd be a big fan of marmite of vegemite. And the only nuts I eat is in the form of peanut butter - smooth - so I'm not so sure about Nutella, either. Sorry to disappoint. smile

I heard his Codera series is good too. Care to confirm?

*stuffs Nutella down your throat*

There. You've had it now! And you loved it!

*rubs it on your nipples as a baptism into the High Church of Nutella*

And one of the other HoPers will have to lick it off to complete your baptism.

I'm more a peanut butter kind of girl - have never tried either vegemite or marmite although nutella's not bad when I need a chocolate fix. *shrug*

Oh yeah, his Codex Alera series is really good too. If you like fantasy and Jim Butcher's writing, it's worth it to pick up.

What's not drinking got to do with vegemite?

I'm pretty sure it's non-alcoholic, though that would explain a bit wink

Isn't it the left-over yeast product of brewing beer, or something?

Yup, it's made from brewer's yeast, but it's not itself alcoholic, and doesn't taste beer-like.. To me anyway.

There's a possibility you might be a bit biased - and for those of us that don't drink, we might not be able to tell "yeasty" from "beer-yeasty". smile
