I have been on HOP for a long time now and I am curious...I always see everyone elses random pictures at the top of the HOP pages and it makes me wonder. I have never seen my own pix up there and so the question is...how are those pix up there chosen to be displayed? Is there something special you have to have/do in order to have your pix displayed up there? Why is it that I have yet to see my own pix even when I am logged off but still surfing HOP? Sorry this is probably a stupid post...but I figure curious minds should be satisfyed and as long as it is a valid question then there is no such thing as a stupid question.

My guess is that its completly random, considering I've had photos pop up there with hardly any views, and ones up with quite a few views. Just because you haven't seen your own up, doesn't mean they haven't been up when you're not looking! I'm guessing its some sort of random number generator that works out the running order. But it would be good if we could get some more enlightenment!

Seems to me like the code is called by a random generator but works in blocks... if you notice in tis set of code that all of the photos are called with the numbers 13###+ range, also all photos are by the dame member, but this doesnt have to be true as i have seen my own there with other peoples.

Malcolm started all of the coding to this site in it's early days.. he was and is such a helpful my man that he even helped me out with my site many years ago.
Forums and gallery and the shop maybe took malcolm a lot of effort to merge them together with the existing code that he had. by merge i mean make them coexist and interact with only one database as this site was never a CMS (content management system).
As for the random images, that would just be a simple coded "block" for the gallery application and the blocks code written in to the header and not left in a block like in a CMS.
These days you can download prebuilt CMS with forums, shops and galleries for free.... but hop was started before all of that was really available.
I remember and appreciate how much time and effort malcolm has put in to this site from its early days.

Honestly i LOVE this board, it is so great how it just jumps you to your unread posts and such, beautifully designed. BUT i do like the old color scheme with the greys and such. good link makes it feel like i was there.
