did you hear about the Bestival fancy dress thing last year? Loads of people wanted their money back after it was annouced that people were being asked to dress up as clowns.. Coulrophobia was cited at the reason for a refund.. so they changed the dress code!

Personally I'm a little freaked out by clowns too.. I guess that Stephen Kings IT might have something to do with it...

I honour you as an aspect of myself..

Really ? Scarey.

I'm not a huge fan of clowns, but they don't bother me or owt. Hell, I'm an ICP fan and the whole Juggalo thing, whilst I've not joined in, does amuse me greatly !

O_O woah, I wonder what the motive was ... doing it infront of kids too! Thats kinda sick..

My friend has a phobia of clowns, she screamed at me for forgetting to warn her that there was a clown in Donnie Darko for a whole 30 seconds ¬_¬

That's so sad.

I think clowning is great... it's one of the hardest circus disciplines, and I've so much respect for anyone brave enough to do it.

Think about it... you've no props to hide behind... and you've to get on stage and open your soul to a crowd of strangers who demand to be entertained and to laugh.

Your job is to make other people laugh at you... with nothing but yourself to do it.

How hard has that got to be for the ego?!

That's why, I think, some clowns go a bit loopy.

It's really hard to find a good clown... but when you do, it's poetry.

This is a very sad story frown

I love the art and I would love to be able to do it. Also, I'd love to be able to join these guys: https://www.clownarmy.org/

I'd really like to know if this shooting was to do with the fact they were clowns alone, or if it was some grudge on the people. Are there there some religions/cults against clowning?

There's too many home fires burning and not enough trees

Wow Clare, that was very moving. And you're right! It is hard to be a clown, some people think its all fun and games but it takes alot out of you too.

There's a clown army? well that's just awesome! And it looks like it'd be good fun too!

I never had a problem with clowns or was asked if I was a clown when juggling or any of that. I really like the look of the rebel clown army.

They look like they've got the right stuff

Clowns are great, scarier the better. My juggling club at uni try to have a Evil Clown pub crawl every year - here's the pictures from last here and the next one should be a few weeks. Looking forward to it, it's a great nice biggrin

Just so happens that there was the first meeting for the ClownArmy Israel very recently. I think there is a lot that they could do here.

In our show touring around Israel and Palestine we have been acting the right clowns. Personally I find it really easy - it sort of comes naturally, but maybe its easier when you are in a foreign country. Slapstick humour goes down very well here; especially when you can break social taboos.

Personally I'm pretty disturbed by clowns with the full face mask on; I much prefer to do it eu natural biggrin

I'm terrified of clowns.

Always have been, and probably always will be. This has caused problems for me in the past as you can imagine, at times like the EJC parade when hundreds of people all paint their faces etc...and i run away and hide. Even thinking about them now is making me feel slightly ill.

I have a huge amount of respect for the art of clowning, the physical skills and emotional connection with the audience. But why they should have to put on that makeup and those clothes is beyond me. I love seeing someone like Pedro Tochas or Mr Toons perform - amazing clowns, but no makeup.

I'm scared of waxworks too, and even shop mannequins, but to a lesser extent. I used to have a fear of human statues as well, but I seem to have got over that one for some reason shrug.

On the plus side, it does mean that as a child I was too scared to go near McDonalds, as I thought that there would actually be a clown in there, like in the ads. ubblol

I don't have a problem with clowns, in fact I've dressed up as a clown before. but I'm definately with 3C, Ventriloquist dummies really, really freak me out. Mannequins only make me slightly jump, when I walk past one, see it in the corner of my eye, think its a real person, turn round to look and realise its just a mannequin. But they don't bother me other than making me jump on a regular basis.

Anyway thats a bit off topic, thats horrible news about the clowns. I too would be interested to know if its personal or just a random attack on clowns. Is circo del sol a different thing from cirque de soleil by the way?

B: Bright red shoes of ANY size

C: A novelty honker

D: Any child who actually thinks clowns are funny

I like Harlequinn's though, I just hate the stupid red hair, red nose, bonko the clown bastardization
