Well, ladies, and gentlemen!

I was having a little think the other day, and I thought its time for the spinners to have a bit of non spinning entertainment!

I suggest that many of us wierdos head to London to catch up with 2 or 3 of the newest musical theatre productions out there.

1) Wicked

2) Avenue Q

3) Spamalot

Now you may all be thinking "Dear lord, why would I want to go and see a musical?"

My answer would be - Tis better than a film, anyways!

The details are open ended. I myself want to see Wicked and Avenue Q, cos theyre cool and funny respectively, but any combo would be good!

Please can any London types put a little post in if you could accomodate the ravaging Northern hordes that will descend, and we will bring drink.

I'd be up for a March visit but again it's a case of booking time off work or saving the holiday time for big HOP meets... If it is on the weekend it would be great!

Yes Avenue Q and Wicked would be my choices too...

I wanna go see Avenue Q! Might be in London some time February/March, but don't know yet... I guess I'll get my tickets from the cheap booth when I'm there.

If you haven't seen them yet, I recommend the Blue Man Group biggrin

current arguement is between flashpoints March Suggestion and my August suggestion.

So far my main reasons for august

1. Schools and some unis are out
2. pre booking = cheap
3. I can go wink
4. its nice weather in london so we can spin as well
5. Not much planned for august
6. I dont want to find out whatt will happen to me from you lot as its my bday in march
7. It just seems like more fun

Hmmmm. My reasons for earlier:

1. I won't be in the country in August.
2. Main holiday season.
2.a. lots of tickets will be sold already
2.b. EVERYthing will be even fuller of tourists than usual. And probably more expensive. I don't like London in summer. You can't breathe in the tubes. But then I wouldn't be going in August anyway wink
3. You can spin in March, too... movement will keep you warm
4. Lots and lots of festivals in summer, whereas March is quite dull for other things happening
5. checked the prices for avenue q, right now they are the same for March and July (August isn't listed)

Mike, could you really not do any weekends during term time at all? frown

I'm sure the soon we book seat the better the seats we get. Oviously we'd get better seats if we book now for August than if we book now for March. I'm not too bothered really but since Pete Suggested this and wants March I'll go where he follows! Just give us enough notice!

Right, i've updated the first post with the weekend of the 27th March.

Wicked, at this price and date will be between 25 for a reasonable seat, and 60 for a kick ass seat.
What would everyone prefer?
A block booking? In which case I would ask people to send me the money, preferably a transfer... But we'd have to come to a consensus re prices etc...
Or you could buy them yourself, and meet up before and after.

I would suggest a matinee then an evening performance on Saturday of Wicked then Avenue Q, with a wander/food break in the middle, then spinning on Sunday.

Any comments?

Since it's your idea, how about you say what seats you'd like, and give us a deadline by which to send you money for that kind of seat. That way anyone who wants something different or makes up their mind later can look after themselves but we can have a group, too smile

I think you're right about seeing both on Saturday, Sunday will be bad cause some of us will have to head home too early to see a show.

By the way, that's extraordinarily quick organisation for spinners ubblol well done you!!

Ok then, everyone send me 100 quid, and i'll see you on Judgement Day?

No really, go for the 2nd tier circle (£25) seats for Wicked and the really cheap seats (£21.50) for Avenue Q.

Deadline for paying me would have to be the end of January, maybe the 1st of Feb, cos they dont seem to be offering the cheaper seats before then.

Oh, and by the way, its the 24th, not the 27th!

And Mike... Although blood brothers is great, my plan is to see the newer ones!

Cheers ubbrollsmile

i would point out two things - if people use oyster cards (£3 deposit and dead useful) some shows do two for one on tickets

secondly group bookings of more than 10 people will get discounts

biggrin

and if you need people for a block book i have a group of friends with whom i go to see shows about once ever 6 months and we're due another one so i may put it out to them (a good proportion are spinners and id get money up front to who ever is organising)

biggrin wicked for preference by the way :P
