This is not an argument thread.Just want some feedback. With all the crazy laws that are out there which ones do you think we would be better off without or which ones do you feel need revision? All smarta$$ comments welcome.

Seriously the ones that I think need some revisions are the child abuse laws in the States. You can't even send a child to school these days with a small bruise without being looked at like some kind of child abuser. On top of that the way the system works these days they can just say you've been abusing them and that's it.DCF just jumps right in takes all your kids away and now you're a child abuser. It's insane the tight-rope some parents have to walk with their kids these days.

Hereditory peers.
The fact that the PM can start a war without parliament's agreement.
Weed being illegal.
That law about a gathering of more than 3 people with repetetive beats playing requiring a license.

Oh yeah, and advertising should be illegal.

I second that especially Tambo's suggestion.

I also feel the rules of divorce need to be reviewed very badly. It's amazing how in only a couple of decades women have gone from having no power in this subject to having all the power. I don't know how it is outside of the States but putting a ring on a woman's finger is like basically signing your life away in this country.I can't tell you how many horror stories I have heard about this subject. The worst part is in the battle of divorcing a lot of the time the ones who get forgotten in the whole mess are the children.

Yep, there are horror stories, and people do get it wrong. But the honest fact of the matter is that women generally lose more financially in a divorce than men do. Women are still more likely to have custody, and all the expenses and restrictions on working that entails (yes, that should be addressed, I know how tough it is for men to get custody).

Despite the changing working patterns, women are still more likely to have an interrupted career path due to family duties. As such, they will have spent long periods of time not contributing in any way to pension or superannuation funds, as they have not been earning. They are also more likely to be out of work, or have only just returned to the workforce due to family duties. They have put aside their own earning capacity for their families.

I personally am waiting with baited breath for the days when it is just as likely that the man or the woman will stay home with the kids, but right now it is more likely to be the woman.

Divorce settlements are aimed at recognising in a financial manner what is a non-financial contribution. That is always always going to be difficult, it will result in problems in some cases. Yes, maybe legislation does need to be reviewed to tackle this problem, but to suggest that women suddenly have all the power is a gross mis-representation.

As to my law to be changed, I would like to see changes to the legislation surrounding the provision of welfare support to refugees and immigrants. We seem to have it arse-about-face, where our society doesn't supply support to people when they most need it (when they first arrive in the country). If we did this, maybe they wouldn't need support later on?

It was a day for screaming at inanimate objects.

What this calls for is a special mix of psychology and extreme violence...

I would like to change the law that allowed corporations to be legally recognised as a person with such rights as the right to earn money. A law that was created for slaves to be recognised as people after slavery was abolished...

The one about MJ (no not Michael Jackson)

And the one that allowed Proposition H8 to be even put on the ballot papers
