Opps.......I did the bad thing as a newbie and I didnt use the template for all you nosy noses out there so here I sit editing my introduction.........my origional sin will be at the bottom........here goes

Location:Torrington, Connecticut, USA...for the moment, I spontaniously travel alot
Hometown:again Torrington.....I'm here visiting family
D.O.B.:April 3, 1975.......man I'm getting old
Age:this seems redundant......I'm 30 if you couldn't do the math
Sex:male..... if you didn't guess by my name
Occupation:Jack of all trades master of none
Favorite food:mmmmmmmmm foooooood.......
Favorite colour: green wins and I was happy to see the recipie for green fire..... good to know for when I graduate to fire poi
Toys:hmmmm......PG, R, or XXX........not sure which to list
Hobbies other than the obvious: playing guitar and singing, juggling, devil sticks, playing with my wonderful dog, disc golf, hiking, camping,lots and lots of stuff.....
Education:one year of college then I stopped, but I plan to go back in the spring of 2007 to be a nurse......theres a big shortage and I want to help people
Favorite books: currently I'm reading Wired:the short life and fast times of John Belushi.....any thing put out by Crimethinc collective is great too.....I love books they are food for your brain
Favorite movies:to many to list but a few are: What the bleep do we know, Waking life, Natural born killers, Fight club, Happy Gilmore, Supertroopers..... I could go on and on.....but I wont
Favorite TV shows: Family guy, Lost, That 70's show, The Simpsons.....
Plans for life in general(i.e.what I want to do when I grow up):I dont ever want to grow up and if I do promise to shoot me
Favorite music artist/composer:far to many to list ....music is my life and there litterally isnt a single kind of music I dont enjoy

Hi all.......I'm new here and I'm glad I found the home of poi to unroll my bedroll in and curl up on the floor for a bit ......I fell in love with poi after a fire dancer performed at my friends wedding and it invaded my entire being.....even my dreams.....so I made some sock poi and started to learn.....I aspire to fire.......I've juggled and done devil sticks for many years and I think I found my next great love in poi.....these are such great activities when your a traveler such as me..... it helps to pass time and sparks conversations with new people who are curious about what I'm doing.....I cant wait to get better and have my first burn......thanks for reading this and feel free to message me with any tips you might have for me to help me progress.....

and .......and ........OH I know!!!!!!! *goes to run out to get something but slips in huge puddle of paint, flys into the air and lands flat on back*
OOWWWWWWW!!!!! *lays there stareing at the ceiling*.......you know I think we need more colour on the ceiling.......and oh man I hope this paint is water based because I sure am covered now

Ooh! I have an idea! We can cover ourselves in paint and then use our bodies to decorate the walls! Human-shaped blobs of paint look cool. Much more impressive than hand-prints, don'tcha think?

*Turns off the light and sees the florescent print of two people holding hands and a large splat. Then looks up at the ceiling and realizes that the stars aren't up yet, turns the lights back on.*
How did I miss putting those up? I'm losing it!!!* Sprouts wings and pulls out rainbow stars from her bag. She flies up to the ceiling and licks the back of a star and sticks in on the ceiling*

Ever have one of those days that you would absolutely love to do anything but laudnry and housework ... but then you really don't have much of a choice because it HAS to get done?
At least it's cloudy now, it would be even worse if the sun was shinning.

Actually today has been calm, almost dead calm. But Friday and Saturday was bad. I'm hoping that it will stay calm because tonight is the fire jam and it's the pits spinning in the wind.

The jam was absolutely fantastic!!! No wind but it was cold. I had to put my jacket on between spins but it was still great.My only problem is that I'm having a problem keeping my poi light. They go wet and now I'm going to have to do several soak and burns to try and get them working properly. I have more kevlar at home so what I should do is just make myself another pair.

glad to hear it stayed calm for you yay for no wind that sucks your poi got wet though.......how old are they? are they even worth saving? which would use up more of your time? repeated soak and burns or just making another set?
even if you do the soak and burns it might be a good idea to have a backup pair anyway....in case something like this happens again then you wont be stuck and unable to have a satisfying burn

I'm so excited!!!!! I just made some sock poi that are sooooo cool.....much better than my old stinky white (well formerly white) socks I made them out of toe socks.....thier like rainbow striped and the best part is now my sock poi have toes!!!!!!

My poi is only three years old, they have plenty of wear left, and since the I don't have much to do this week.
I'll probably end up making another set anyway. sock poi with toes? Take pictures ... this I gotta see. Growing old is mandatory; growing up is NOT.

I love them!!!!!Not only do they look awsome but they spin great too!!!!
the only problem is they are made from a pretty streachy material so I cant really spin slow which sucks when I'm trying to learn a new trick.

The stretch factor is one of the reasons why I don't do sock poi. The other is that I don't have any long socks to make any out of.

well the first pair I made streched out after only a couple of spins and stayed streched so it wasnt a problem......this material is more elastic and recoils when I slow down it doesnt give up like the other sock poi I made.....anyway they still look real cool and I like to spin them so I guess thats what matters as for not having long socks to make them out of.....do what I do....do you have stores like Goodwill or the Salvation Army on the west coast? Thats where I found my toe socks and they were only $0.10 theres always cool socks at those stores if you look hard enough and long enough. Currently I'm hopeing to find a pair of black and white striped ones so the white will glow under blacklight......that would look awsome

I think the biggest problem I'm having right now is how to convince my dog that I'm not trying to play with her when I'm practicing my poi every time I do while shes awake she goes

well I got instant karma with that suggestion
she came over to try and get my poi and I went to spin it at her and missed her.....but succeeded in getting myself right between the legs.....real hard too
