Well Maus I serious enjoyed flipping you upside and round again that was fun.

Can't actually say i did ANY juggling during the weekend but have started on the basics of contact juggling so might make SOME progess with that.

Jake, Becci etc thanks for making me feel welcome in the hallowed ground of the teepee.

Strugs you double-staffed specimen of manhood! Thanks for the little tutorial. I hope I can make you proud when i next see you.

Jo, that was a lovely hat, kinda matches with Sym's... Shame about the lice. Hope you didn't give it to me although I do feel the odd isolated tingle on my scalp... probably (hopefully!) just needs washing :P

Bad organisation? You're lucky you haven't been before then! I thought this year was well organised in comparison.

Hatred of poi? I wasn't aware of that. Please fill me in . . .

haha! . . . I must have missed those signs.

At least it was only signs, it wasn't so long ago in history that anyone caught doing poi at a juggling convention would face death by firing squad. True story.

I guess we will know that poi is totally accepted at juggling conventions when they have a poi routine in the public show at BJC . . . I guess it's you people's job to impress them enough.

I was doing my best to only do tech poi in the hall wink

I thought they did a bad job - I wasn't happy about paying £50 for something I thought was a bit crap. I'm not sure if I'll go next year...

One thing that really got be (apart form the anti-poi jugglers) was the fact that my play flyers kept getting taken down when I put them up...I put up loads over the weekend and they all get removed, even though they were put next to other event posters...

Also, getting a bus to the show? WFT? Getting hurried on to an almost empty bus for a 50 minute ride, only to have to wait about for almost an hour before we could see the show (that wasn't amazing) then getting rushed back on to a bus full of drunk idots and brats was very uncool indeed.

The games were ok, but I left because they dragged on loads. One highlight was the 3 leg poi race: Simon and I did the best weave by far, but we didn't win. Still poi in the games is a start.

No firespinning. WTF?

Telling us to get out on Sunday night when we'd paid till Monday morning? Not cool.

I could go on...all in all I had a good time, but only because of the people, not the BJC. I would have has as much fun if I'd been at a campsite with you all near the beach. Maybe with some cream tea....

I would have to agree with a lot of that sym, although I did have a really great time, but i guess that was mostly down to the people.

The bus to show thing was a bit silly, so I drove. And the not being able to park by the campsite too wasn't very helpful either.

As for the games...they were great, mainly because zennor won a set of aerotech balls (the best prize in the games and they give it to an 8 yr old!)

Not sure why the Play flyers were being taken down, as when I was talking to the organiser he was really positive about Play, maybe people just wanted to take them with them so they had the information.

As for the anti-poi, it did make me pick up a new toy, not sure if that is good or bad.

So yea, it was the people who make it great, and I'd like to thank everyone who talked me into going in the end, and helped out with the kids. It would have been a nightmare without all you wonderful people.

can someone who was there explain the anti-poi-ness please since the bjc is normally quite poi friendly...

was it just a sign or two, or were there people being openly anti-poi?

Hey well i heard about these signs. As The Nottingham and Derby Clubs set the BJC up. Im part of the Derby Juggling Club. It was just a joke no hatred involved. It was to do with the 'Absalutley no Fire!' signs and jsut thought it be a joke. Also i asked about why jugglers hate Poi and Staffers.

The Reason:-
In the old days, not now (which was stated) Staffers and Poi people tended to just be Dog and String Tramps, who tended to be very antisolcial and not get on very well with the nice people. I think its a old running streotypical thing.

There was more than that one sign, people had written it on the white board in the hall, and I think some people wrote something about it on the BJC 2006 wall hanging thing as well. I felt very looked down on whenever I span, as if I shouldn't be there at all. When I met about 5 different people who after asking me what I did stopped talked to me because I said poi. You could actually see their expression fall.

I got a bit fed up with the whole thing really. It seems like a big old boy network that you can only join when you're able to juggle 7 balls. Maybe it's me, but I'm going to stick to events that allow me to have fun without paying £50 and getting told I can't play with my toys when I get there. I didn't stop spinning because of them, but it doesn't make you feel great about going there again.

Sym - did you have permission to put flyers up? If not, as nice as it would've been, if you didn't have permission it's not surprising. Bloody paperwork!

The only anti-poi sentiment I found was on the huge signing sheet in the hall where there were only a couple of signatures featuring 'no poi'.

To be be fair it was a JUGGLING convention. I did feel an air of snobbery if only because of there being only a handful of poi-ers.

It couldn't've been THAT anti-poi if there was a workshop for poi...

I decided to try my hand at contact juggling instead (I'm getting there.....) and adding more than a few artistic contributions to the wall... (Stick to what you're good at...)
