Whos been watching this gripping series between England and Australia?

I hated cricket for years but got into it properly a couple of summers ago and have loved the game ever since. This years ashes has been the most exciting competition I've watched so far and I was a bit suprised to not have seen any threads on it considering the large Aussie and English membership.

So, can England hold on for the win? Will Australia pull something out of the bag to get them back?

Your thoughts ladies and gents smile

I'm not usually a fan of cricket, but it's been edge-of-your-seat stuff...

119-4 now, looks like it's gonna go to the wire...

I hated cricket until I watched the third test. I'm hooked too. frown

Still confused at the rules though... as I can see it, Australia have no chance of winning, but apparently it's to the wire? :|:|

Australia better win!

But we won't.

Pfft as if I watch cricket. I don't even get the whole, one day, test match stuff.

It's fun to play but I can't stand watching it! On the radio the other day, the people were treating it as if it was a natural disaster if England win, they were talking to an aussie guy who was in england saying that he's been copping heaps from english people.

'So...what's the evacuation plan for the aussies to get out of England if England win?'

'Well we're actually planning to seek refuge in *insert pub name here*'

'And will there be...security to keep the englishmen out?'

'Yes I believe so'

Ahh it was funny at the time.

.All things are beautiful if we take the time to look.

i heard that the only time anyone other than the english can win at cricket is if they play it wrong - since the english invented it, if they lose it must be because their opponents have not entered into the proper spirit of the game...

that's why they are called test matches - they are merely tests to see if our colonial cousins understand the rules of the game properly yet.

and besides, we get to keep the ashes whatever happens today - i'm pretty sure they have never left the country so it doesn't really matter who wins anyway!

wink

but yes, we are going to win today biggrin

When I went to India this summer my friend who I went with (who is obsessed with cricket) insisted on explaining the game to me (because Indians seem to love cricket even more than us english)...and now, although I'm a bit confused by it all, I have actually quite enjoyed watching this series, it's been rather exciting!

And it's about bloody time we won! Lets see what happens.... biggrin

Yup, right on the money Mr. Cole-

Oietersen hasn't been my favourite player this series, far too many dropped catches and shoddy hair dos, but give a man his dues, hes played brilliantly today, scoring his first century in the biggest test match in years.

England look to be in a strong position from here, BUT never underestimate the Aussies.

biggrin
