Hello all,

I'm joe, though obviously go by Imbalance online. I'm relatively new to spinning (about 4 or 5 months i suppose) and actually didn't even know it was called poi till about a month ago. Started spinning because a buddy of mine did it with glowsticks in a club. Thought it was cool and so I got into it. I've had experience with staff spinning a bit way back in the day when I took Kempo, been thinking about getting back into it.

I love spinning, always have had a knack for this kind of hand coordination thing and I intend on getting much much better.

Anyways, I'm from Charlotte, NC (USA) and living proof that JUST because I'm southern, doesn't mean I'm a redneck, nor do I speak with a drawn out accent. ok yaawwll? So if anyone else is in the area and wants to get together (i.e. teach me mo' moves) that'd be cool.

as for what I do, welp, i do a bit of everything, Recently lost my full time job (sales guy for technology) so i'm falling back on what i've been doing for years. I have my own small business doing computer repair/training, graphic design, websites etc etc etc. I love doing my own thing, the only problem is the business is sooooo not steady. Aside from all that, I'm a gamer and an artist. I have extremely eclectic music tastes except for country (my dad never had sex with my cousin, nor did my dog run away when grandpa' died or some such stupid thing, and I have ALL my teeth thank u) I also love to cook (thought about being a chef, decided i don't like cooking under stress) and i tell ya, one of the best things i've ever gotten...that ron popiel Showtime Rotisserie (Set It! and Forget It!) makes a mean prime rib.

other than that... i dunno feel free to ask.

I'll probably be poking my head in from time to time to bug all you experienced ppls with my annoying questions about why the string keeps wrapping around my head biggrin

so, glad to find such a nice community of ppl interested in something I am!

p.s. as a side note, my birthday is next friday (9-16-05) and i'm turning 24 so woo hoo, im officially old according to my brother (who's 21) lol.

For my next life, i want to be a koala bear.
They sit in trees and their ONLY food source does to them as pot does to humans.

*high five tong* deffinently a good goal for your next life! though i doubt I could live without technology and entertainment. What fun is being high if you just have to sit there in your tree staring at nothin. much better to be watching family guy, or a personal favorite of mine News Radio (comedy from years ago that is now, sadly, gone).

additionally, wouldn't want to be any lower on the food chain, too much stress to have to watch out for large animals who want nothing more than to snatch you out of that tree (or as we call them today, humans).

Heya Imbalance, happy near birthday and welcome to HoP!

There are a bunch of us poi spinners here in Charlotte, we get together every few days at different peoples houses or nightclubs for spin jams. PM me if you want to spin some time and meet some of the others around town.

I think a few of us are getting together on the 17th to spin fire at a Hurricane charity event in the MoFo district (Montford drive, at Jeff's Bucket Shop\Moosehead Grill).

thanks everyone for the nice welcome!

glad to hear there are other people in charlotte! I will deffinently try and stop by saturday if i can, dunno how hung over I will be since I "plan" on going out on the 16th. I used to live right over there where you guys are gonna be, parents still have a house off park road and seneca. Let me know what times things are goin down and I will at least stop in and say hi, i'll be the goober lookin all impressed and what not. lol.

as a side note, never have done fire yet, for some reason i have always had a thing for glowsticks (even before i knew about poi), that and a strong desire to not get a fireball in the face just when i think i am rocking a 5 beat weave (which i just FINALLY got consistently today!), cuz thats when i get hit, when i think im doin good lol.
