ok - here's an idea, for next year maybe.

(this is just a suggestion by the way)

I was thinking how cool it would to have a tour of the UK, HoP style - Via coach or something. It may take a few weeks to complete, visiting anywhere easily accessible that has a HoP spinning community.

we could:-

pick up HoPpers along the way

visit HoPpers who can't usually get to any meets (or who can't get time off to join us but still meet everyone)

See this wee island's lovely scenery

and other fine things.

it'll be like a mobile PLAY or a Falmouth on wheels!

from cornwall to the highlands of scotland (or vice versa)

that's my idea, sadly i'm not minted and have no spendable cash so this dream of mine will likely stay a dream.

but it'd be fun though, yeah???

Cheers for looking, anyway!

Tammie. hug ubblove

ps - this is the right place to post this thread is it not?

I think IN THEORY that sound such a cool idea, however the funding would be not just awkward but immense so unlikely, but otherwise its a sound idea and i bags back seat smile

first there will be the coach hire, then the petrol costs, where to stop at night, emergency funds, huge organisation, etc.

Sounds like a brilliant idea! wouldn't cost the earth either so long as you could stump up the cash before hand and charge folks bus fair. Or maybe take advance bookings like Mega Bus and you can plan your journey then too!

If you do it I'll come for a ride for sure. I'd be like a modern poi version of "Further" peace

We could turn it into a 'bring poi to the masses' type thing...

Working with people, teaching circus skills/object manipulation etc along the way...

Maybe that could earn a bit of funding...

Universities would be good places to visit!

They almost always have juggling societies, and are very welcoming. Some even have clubs to perform in (like hull) *shameless plug*

As for the accomodation and food etc... we could go travelling around the country posing as monks?

Before you think 'why monks?' it's because in china etc they get free accomodation and food from people willing to take them in... bunch of leechers... wink

This is a do-able thing. London Transport was selling off old double deckers a couple of months ago...... maybe there are still some left. As for funding look into getting an arts/education/health grant. If you pitch it as taking the circus to the masses or showing kids how to play outside and get fit(obesity in kids is a big issue thats high on peoples list of things to fix) you never know you may get a grant for it. Failing grants get sponsership from someone. If you don't ask you won't get so mail loads of companies and pitch the idea to them.

Anything is possible if you really want to do it and are prepared to work hard to get it.

also insurance would be huge for the bus.....

i just had a thought, wouldnt it be more realistic and cheaper if we organised a big trip as in get a list of all the places that we have meets in the UK e.g clapam bristol manchester etc, starting from one end of the country, and have one huge convey over a week or something were we all stop at each place for a day, stay at the local hoppers homes or campsites thatll take us then move onto the next place, like a hoppers meet tour? sounds like a big hassle i know but if you think about it, space it out so its not too much of a.... i dunno, pain? not everyone has to do all, but join on at anypoint. that would be cool me thinks... get plenty of cars, and share petrol money...... i dunno just a thought ubbangel

I always wanted my very own RouteMaster bus. You can grab an old knackered one for a couple of grand, £10k for a fully refurbed one apparently. And because they're old, you can drive them on an ordinary licence apparently. This is what a quick Google found me here
