I dont know whether to be mad or worried.

About an hour ago I lost a friend - literally lost him. We were cycling down the road heading off for what was supposed to be a lovely picnic at some old ruins out of town smile I'm cycling a bit a head of him and glance back to check he's still there. And I've lost him. bug§er! Fair enough it was a busy traffic filled road - easy to lose someone for a couple of minutes, but after almost an hour of searching and am twisted up in knots inside, frustrated, angry, dont know what to do with myself! ggrgrggrgraarag

And i dont even know if I should be mad at him for disappearing or worried that he's been hurt eek

This is one instance of many where it could have been resolved in a matter of minutes if he had a mobile phone. He says it doesn't bother him that he doesn't have one - and i think its also a kind of matter of pride, about being unique and non-conformist... rolleyes but it bothers me. Very very much. mad2

End rant.

Hope uou find him soon too, but I can understand why someone doesn't want a mobile...I've had one for about 6years and in the last year or so I've come to realise what evil things they are, but also what helpful things they are, especially in times like these mentioned above.

I have a cousin who has one but only gives the number to people when they might want to call him if they're lost - other times I doubt he even keeps it on. Maybe suggest/beg he does this?

I really hate it how people take their phones on holiday, and then spend half their time talking to the office/friends back home. It's a holiday, learn to live without mobile.

But, I hope your friend turns up hug

What i agree with what hexagonic said, tell him just to get one, or donate an old one to him, just for when on things like that, when you could get lost, or such?

hope he turns up!!!

I always used to say "I'll never get a mobile phone unless I work for a company that makes me use one or unless I have a boyfriend who gives me one", especially when my boyfriend said "Get a mobile phone!", so now he gave me his old one and there are maybe 3 people who have my number, and I'm only using it for him really, but at least he's happy wink

Still determined to not get dependent on it though... I can understand anyone who doesn't want one.

i orginally got my personal locating device, i mean mobile phone when my parents wanted to know where i was at any time of the day. Their excuss was that i could call them while i was away on my school trip. But i knew the truth. I take my mobile with me most places, i'm addicted to having it, but not for making calls. Ususally its to orgainise meeting with people and for when i get lost, which i've done a few times in Adelaide.
