Well, after my performance a few weeks back , I was really nervous about shooting this weekend (proving it wasn't a fluke etc).
The whole weekend was doomed from scratch and when we told that me and another weren't actually zeroing our rifles, but have to undergo exactly the same training as we did a few weeks back (this time, with our own regiment)! Not happy!
Then, starting to zero our rifles for said training, I overshot by 5 rounds (25 instead of 20 D'uh!) but when I went to review and paste up, my target looked like it had been shot with a shot gun! There were over 40 holes and it turned out the girl in the next lane from me was shooting my target too! This meant I didn't have the opportunity to adjust the sights on my own rifle.
Anyway, I did my confirmation shot and got 80 (phew) but as the group was so far right and up, I had to keep adjusting each time I fired! So, after firing about 300 rounds in blocks of 20 and 5, (and adjusting each time) I had came to the conclusion that I wanted to go home and have some pink, fluffy cuddles
Alas, I continued. Then came the night shoot followed by an auto fire and APWT the following day.
The night shoot = I came impressively last with a grand total of 2 (out of 25) shots on target - but being in lane one, my target was in the tree line and for a first attempt, I sucked
Then came the auto shoot. At 100m bursts were used and 200 - 300m single shots were used and this meant having to change constantly - sometimes there were two targets up at the same time. I did excellent on this and scored 39 out of 45.
As for the APWT (and reacting to fire orders), we were shooting from 100, 200 and 300 meters. We each had 120 rounds each. 5 shots on a "hit when fall" then 20 grouping.
I must say, even though I was armed with only an iron sight (there were 4 people using SUSAT's), I still managed to hit 99 of 120 (1st place) so add that to my previous scores, I still came first - much to the surprise of the NCO's, shooting team members and most of the officers )
BRAG over tee hee

Posted: Well, anyone else have the bestest weekend in the universe? No? Good coz neither did I!
Performance-wise, nothing's changed in the way of shooting. I came first over-all with one abysmal stand (APWT - which I'd already passed!)
Anyway, got to Folkestone early (for a change) and I was the only gimp in uniform! Waited over an hour and a half for the naffi to open (it didn't open until 22:00!) and we played some pool and drank a few pints of wife-beater until bed!
I woke up in the morning (after getting up a few times during the night to throw up), still in my trousers and boots and wrapped up in two really itchy woollen blankets!
The day was possibly the longest day in the history of the world ever! Got up at 05:30 and queued outside the armoury for over an hour (there were 50 people collecting weapons). We could have issued twice as many rifles in half the time if they'd pulled their sodding fingers out. Then came breakfast; always a bonus and something to look forward to. Two sausages, beans, egg and tomatoes (and it's compulsory to go to breakfast as it's the only meal the queen pays for!
Anyway, just sat down at the table and was about to crack on with the culinary delight that is my breakfast when a bird sergeant started herding us out. Had two bites of a sausage and had to leave (me + tiredness + hungry = not good!) and left for the ranges. Did really well again with only one stand letting me down. All day was shooting this, shooting that and lunch was a grot bag feast! (which consists of a frozen cheese and onion pasty, snickers, OJ, an apple, crisps and the best bit, some fruit cake).
More shooting followed and then dinner. I say "dinner" but what I mean is, putting the food on my plate then shoving it straight in the bin because of the stupid sergeant told me and Brown that we needed to get outside and put our weapons back. Got outside and they'd already been done! Well, I went mental. The second meal of the day I'd missed and I started shouting at the closest person (which happened to be another Sargeant) who stood there and took it (he could have dicked me to do push-ups, running, cleaning etc) Then later, more drinking (probably the best bit of the whole weekend) and after a few hours of verbally abusing each other, we went to bed to get up and do a march and shoot (although, I actually ate breakfast this time!)
Got home and went to the pub, seriosuly abusing friends as it takes about two days to get out of Army mode and back in to some kind of normality (I say "normal" lol)
There were some funny points to the weekend, the abuse, Corporal Peachy (Peachy by name and believe me, Peachy by nature and the journey home wasn't too bad, although I did wake up with dribble all over my collar
I didn't even get to eat any crumpets! I feel like i could take on some old ladies (and lose) today!
Rant over
