Now, I know it takes tonnes of work to put on festivals and the like. I know that organizing such things can really cut into personal dreams and goals unless they are fully entwined.

But I am really sad about three events being cancelled.

MotionFest is no longer.
Motion Fest was this phenominal event that had circus, and physical performance instructors come together and teach everything from movement/physicality, to make-up and costume to business techniques and stylings. It was an incredible resource twice a year for performance artists. Last year was its last year due to the founder/creater/organizer wanting to pursue other interests. I do not fault him but it is such a huge loss.

Then I found out that the Om Festival in Ontario is being cancelled after 7 years. This free-lovin', art sharing, fun filled festival has been a growing staple on the calendars of many performers here in the NE for awhile. Normally it is held in June, and the email was just sent out about it being cancelled. It is soooo sad.

The last one is a weekend of classes for advance historical performance art studies that took place in NYC each year. This year is being cancelled due to an over scheduling of the creater and professor.

Again, I understand but with three of these events being cancelled it feels as if the places to really truly learn and doing continuing studies formally are slipping away. I am sooooooo bummed about it all.

Thought I would share, and maybe someone will tell me of something that is booming that I missed. wink

Sad to hear about that. As I'm relativly new to the wider community I also feel I've missed out on some events, but I guess thats how life goes. I think its not all doom and gloom though, i think poi spinning aws a whole is an ever growing hobby. In the UK there are growing meets and communities, and new festivals appearing, exciting stuff. I'm sure where things have been canailled, other things will take their place.

Nothings going to last forever i guess. at least you had a swell time and fantastic memory's from all the ones you attended before right?
