Actually, I don't really have a message to the world... that was just to try and make you read this post. And it worked! Hee hee!!

Anyway, I'm Amber and this is me introducing myself.

I've been poi spinning since the summer and spinning with fire is one of my favourite things in the world, I'm not a paramaniac or anything, I just love the sound, the pretty colours and the attention it gets you! I just started staff a few weeks ago and juggling and unicycle this week juggle

So... a little about me...
LIKES: Drinking wine, friends, comfy beds, playing with my dog, dancing.
DISLIKES: My biology degree, but finished in three months. Yipee!!
LOVES: Men wink, snowboarding, music, acting, art.
HATES: People who lie, naivety, burping
HOBBIES: Playing in any form really (Poi, staff, guitar, mandolin, fiddle, frisbee on the beach, snowboarding) Anything that's fun and doesn't get serious. I still wanna be five years old really!
AIMS FOR LIFE: Travel EVERYWHERE!
AIMS FOR THIS WEEK: Poi on a snowboard (I'll post the pictures if I manage it!)

So... that's a bit about me.

Only been registered for a few days and love this site for giving me a reason not to write my dissertation!

Post lots of replies so that I can spend even more time not writing my dissertation please!

Hi Amber! wave Warm welcome!

You can count on this crowd to pull you away from your dissertation, don't really have to ask :lol

I fiddle around with a guitar sometimes, always wanted to learn a mandolin, but I'm terrible with a pick. How long have you been playing?

Ry,
I've been playing guitar for about 6 years, I just picked one up one day and have been teaching myself ever since! The picking isn't too hard to learn... Its all pretty rhythmical so its just trying to get it into your head! Good luck!

Chase,
I think the spring puddles would look amazing! Take some photos! And I wasn't worrying about you ruining your ski clothes, I was worrying about you going up in a ball of flames because your clothes are on fire! The trouble with the synthetic clothing is that it melts onto your skin quite quickly. Put on some natural fibre clothes please! Even if you are on the snow!

Oh, forgot to ask...
Has anyone ever done poi on horse-back??

I saw people doing something very similar to fire-staff on horse-back last night except only one end of the staff was alight...

Anyone seen it done with poi?

eek yeah, using natural fibre clothes is smart - umm i've used fleece before - kind of scary... ubbloco we all decided from there on in to use proper clothes... I'll see if i can get any good photos over the puddles. hug

...it's safe to say that relationships inspired by the art of poi are not necessarily 'poi'fect...!

Anyone got any dissertation horror stories? Mine's due in tomorrow and I haven't been to sleep properly for about three days. Help! Only got a couple of thousand more words to write now though... It's really stressful!

Anyone want to offer sympathy/give advice/tell me how much worse their's was?

Or just distract me for a few minutes - that would be very welcome!

It was at a horse show in the SECC in Glasgow called Appasionata. It was INCREDIBLE!!! I've honestly never seen anything like it, the horses were amazingly calm with fire flying about round their heads, very impressive.

Ah. Thought about going to that, but never quite got around t it. Wish had now! Sounds fab, bet that took years of training.

Hope the horrible dissertation's going okay.
