So i just read an aticial on msnbc.msn.com that said some of the Christian fundamentalists her in the "land of tolerance" (yea right) are attacking Spounge Bob, Barney and other cartoons for "promoting acceptance of homosexuals"

first off i didnt know promoting acceptance of others was a problem, but i guess is it here! secondly, they are reaching at this point,

sorry that really pisses me off, this is why i turned my back on christianity, and why several people i know did. on one hand they preach exceptance, and then contradict themselves in the same sentence.............does any one else feel this way???

They took the "Christ" out of Christian the moment they decided tolerance crossed the moral line.

That's all I'm going to say about it for now. I'm not a happy camper.

christianity was created by emperor constantine and the greatest philosophical thinkers of the time (circa 350 AD), based on the writings/teachings/analects/etc of krishna, of horus, and of others that hold similar places in other cultures.
they (constantine and his cohorts) simply ripped off someone elses crop and sold it as their own.
dont believe me?
then download and watch the pharmacratic inquisition (which also has other really great information in it).

Personally, I find it amusing.

They're going up against the Anti-Defamation League on this one. You DON'T mess with the ADL. Messing with the ADL is tantamount to hoisting a Nazi flag.

Meybe they'll even call the ADL "Nazis." That will be priceless.

And what about my lather-thingy in the shower, what if that's gay?

Gay 'sponge-on-a-stick' in the kitchen sink...

And I don't even wanna think about my gay sponge candy...

I remember in class last year we watched a documentry on a gay couple wanting a child, they found a surrogant mothe rover in America and stuff.

Anyway, all through it, out loud this girl was claiming how ridiculous it was, and how 'sad' it was that people can get attracted to the same sex. I was infuriated so I yelled out, 'Jesus, let them be!' (yes delibrate blasphomy) and she shut up.

One of my friends is a lesbian and the girlfriend of my friend found a note on the ground saying 'Dear Lord, please help (name) overcome her sin. Amen"

It's like....indoctrination. These people are 16-17 and listen to them.

I don't know, the more groups do stuff like this, one would hope the more people would see how absolutely ridiculous it is and lose sympathy with them.

yea this is just absolutely absurd.

sure its arguable (but i dont believe it) that homosexuality is not natural, but that doesnt mean that they automatically go to hell...

i was watching Ali G. the other night and he had an interview with some senator/governor/'important' local politician in wherever in the US, and ali asked him how to get to heaven.. he replied by putting your life in jesus' hands and believing etc.. then ali asked about a jew, if they could go to heaven.. and the dude said no!

my mouth just gaped open.. i could not believe that there are ppl who are so narrowsighted (if thats even a word) and blindly believe some rediculous concept like that.

let me just add that this was not intended as a personal attack on anyone here on the forum. if i did offend anyone, pls pm me and well sort it out.

You guys are too funny!

I just went to the States and met so many faithfull Church goers... I can find much better ways to dance to my God on a sunday thats for sure... I just cant imagine the feelings of mass guilt caused by religion....

Anyone know hicks?

he has some amazing (well sadly he had) ideas about religion!

I think its horrible... at least within myself that even though I am not religious I still have feelings of guilt sometimes for the stupidest things... I also appologies too much and I'm sure that comes from being exposed to religion quite a lot at a young age...

Its mad you think you are enjoying whatever it is and then suddenly you feel guilty for enjoying it... ARG!!!!! I dont like this brain washing!!!!

umm, all your talk about christians untolerance and hating it. how are you being tolerant? tollerance is a bit stupid because nobody does it properly. if people were as tolerant as they say they are then would there still be war and hate and violence?

its only an ideal people, not a reality.

p.s with the crazy fanatical thing there was another thread that had a link to some baptist site where a pastor was saying Apple computers was a devil worshipping cult.

I lost interest in Christianity at an early age, after coming to the conclusion that everyone simply had to work it (everything!) out for themselves. I never liked being told "how it was and will be"

Left to learn from everyone you meet, all the things you experience and reaching your own conclusions, it's amazing the things you can rationalise and be content with.

Of all religions, Christianity is probably my least favourite, basically because they're the ones who seem most determined in pestering people to take an interest. Fair enough, they might think they're saving people, but most people I know don't like being told they're wrong and going to hell.

That's not to say I've figured it all out of course!
I guess it's like saying "I don't know anything about art, but I don't like this".

Or something...I guess. Forgive my rambling.

The potential ramifications of homosexual cleansing aids... ubblol That's hilarious!

Besides, whoever initially came up with this pseudo-controversy apparently doesn't actually watch the show. Spongebob has a crush on Sandy the Squirrel. So that makes him bisexual. The real problem here is not SB's sexuality, but why is he cheating on Patrick, and why doesn't Patrick get fed up with it and take up with Squidward?? Besides the obvious personality defects, Squidward's eight tentacled arms could be very satisfying... They could do a lot more with this show if they were really trying to aggravate the religious right. ubblove

Ok first there were two main groups who were opposing not any one particular cartoon, but a video that was made with many cartoons. One group appologized after realizing that they had confused the song writer's web site with another web site and the other group is led by Dr. James Dobson he has stated that the cartoons themselves are not a problem to him, neither is the video. What he objects to is that he feels that these cartoons are being hijacked to teach young children about homosexuality. Also just for the record I am a Christian and my beliefs are that being a Christian doesn't get you to Heaven, accepting Christ does!
