juggle weavesmiley Manchester Spinner’s Meet up and stuff weavesmiley juggle

Hi all If you are looking for people to spin poi with in the North west this is the place to be.

For any one new to this sight DON’T READ THE WHOLE THREAD it has been going a long time and contains lots of old information and chat about previous meet ups and organisation stuff just go to the last few posts to find out the most up-to-date information on current events.

First a bit of info the Manchester spinners lot is no professional spinning troop or organised events it is just a group of people who get together to enjoy themselves. The first meet up was organised way beck in September 04 https://delizium.fotopic.net/c291964.html

The crowd has changed a bit from back then but we have kept a few old timers we welcome all along to come and join us for a spin whether you be experienced or a complete beginner we are willing to teach and learn from you.

Their is no set time for the meet ups they are usually organised around when people can make it and how long they can stay.

I will try to update this first post as often as I can with the most up-to-date info on meet ups and club nights that allow spinning but if I'm being a bit lax just find the last few posts foe up-to-date info (like I said before weren’t you paying attention)

To date the standard meets have gone as meet up in Piccadilly gardens at 4pm (nice central point where every one can get to) Then move on down to the Gas Works/CastleField or Plat fields Park depending on the wether till everyone gets to cold/tired/burned then on to the pub

( anybody who doesn’t know where this is it can be arranged for someone to come meet you at the train station or wherever you are coming from .) smile

{ ubblove We are a nice bunch like that ubblove}

Accommodation for a night can usually be arranged but you need to sort this well in advance no just turning up expecting somewhere to sleep eek

(more to be added and all to be spell checked soon)

pm me any info you would like to add

before i met those lot i thought they'd be a bunch of dreadlocked hippies that smoked, set things on fire ,and drank a lot of tea but then when i met them....oh wait (PyroWill)

I'd say 10-15mins walk... (my walking speed anyway) so I'd say 20mins. About less than 5mins from Manchester Deansgate train station...

I say the 8th would be good. Especially as I know of at least one birthday shortly after that weekend and a roumour of someone else having theirs this weekend.

On the subject of birthdays I have been asked to post an invite on here on behalf of Ree.
It is her birthday on the 11th and is planning on going out on Saturday night to celebrate it.
She is starting with a meal in Panama Hatty's, near Spring Gardens, off Market Street, around 7.30pm. Then staying around for drinks from about 9pm before possibly moving on to Mr Scruff at the music box 10-11pm.
Anyone wishing to join us for the meal please PM me as she wants names to make a reservation asap with a rough figure of attendees.
People just wishing to join for the drinks turn up around 9pm, we should be fairly easy to find. If you want more info on the location, PM me and I will get details to you as soon as I can. smile

Aww, I wish I could come so you and I can carry on where we've left off. You know, with your parents not there and all. wink

LOL, soz hun they're back on friday!

it's a bit of a concern really as i find that parents accenuate hangovers. it's like they want to punish me. The worse the headache the more critical it is for them to clean the pan cupboard, hoover, get random power tools out...

so i may come for a spin just to recover in relative peace! ubblol

i say keep ot oat gasworks coz everyone knows where that it and i dont understand why we keep messing it about and confusin people by mentioning other places... as far as im aware it has always been at the gas works (mostly anyways) and all this talk of castle field and platt fields is rubbish. i think we should always keep the meets at gas works where there is shelter, places to sit, places to climb and very central!!!!

i vote we meet at gasworks!!!

thanks for burning with me

Is there anything wrong with entertaining the idea of other places? Because although everyone knows where Gasworks is, it's not the most picture-esque of locations with its broken glass, abundance of penile graffiti and now the excavation of the grassy area as well as heckling passerbys. Platt Fields used to be THE place we had meets anyway, who WOULD object to a day in a lovely green park? With the winter months a park WILL be out of the question. Re: Castlefield, you weren't there when we did go, it was lovely, open, picture-esque, quiet, any passerbys were peaceful and left us alone. And it snowed, it looked just beautiful. Plus with the winter months there's a lovely big sheltering canopy and something that's less grim than the broken glas/graffiti combo wouldn't go amiss! ...

We're just throwing ideas out there for alternative locations and if people don't agree then fair enough! Just don't tell us we can't make suggestions!

tis true, alternative locations are always a good thing, espec as people have said castlefield is bit more sheltered

and surely it isnt that confusing to someone who jus reads thro

so this sunday at the gasworks, sounds good, wht kinda time do people usually get down there?

(if) i come im prob gonna need to be a skank and borrow firetoys help

i no longer have a firestaff due to alcohol and sheer retardedness, and still waiting on a few bits n pieces to sort out my poi. i can bring my fire flowerstick if anyone wants to play with it, i dont really use it that much, but im sure someone mite like a play

Simta, I'm sure someone will be very appreciative of you bringing a fire flowerstick. Think of it as a fair trade of lending equipment (not that borrowing equipment comes with conditions... except for returning them intact, which with your admission of 'alcohol and sheer retardedness' is rather worrying biggrin)

hello everybody,

tomorrow i'll be flying to manchester for a week, and only now I remembered to check this thread.
by the looks of it there's a meet on on sunday? is this to watch that other fire thing, or are people gonna meet up in daylight before the event too?
I'll try to make it on line when in town, see if I can squeeze meeting up that day it in my schedule..

maybe till then,

meditate eRic.

Hey!

Ok, I might be able to come to this, depending on whether or not I can finish my essay on time. So please could someone tell me where exactly it is.

I will probably be getting the train as I live a bit out from the centre and can't be bothered with worrying about parking and navigation etc.

Even if you could tell me the street name the gas works are on it would be good.

Thanks!
