As this is my 666th post and I refuse to succumb to superstitious nonsense i've decided to post a little bit about me.....

Jeez, i remember cringing doing one of these about a year ago and it really doesn't get any easier..... redface oh well, here goes.......

My name is Lisa

I'm 34 years young

& was born on 04-06-1970 - Gemini

in Dublin, Ireland

Been spinning since September '03

Favourite toys are poi, flags, gameboy

My life's loves are, in no particular order; poi, tai chi, collecting eggs, reading, sillyness, free parties, dressmaking, mosaics, live music, recorded music, any music, mischief, trekking, travelling, all sorts of divilment & general tomfoolery.

As a believer in yin & yang there can't be positive without negative, so my pet hates are: dishonesty, alarm clocks, responsibilities & worms

I love bright colours, especially purple & orange

Favourite reads would be The Silmarillion, LOTR (everything by Tolkien) biographies, conspiracy theories.

I'm anti-tv but do have a few favourite films which include LOTR, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, Apocalypse Now, Requiem for a Dream, The Deer Hunter.....

My taste in music could be described wide & varied, anything from folk to Fugazi & Metallica to Mozart really, though my cd collection mainly consists of the Doors, Neil Young, Janis Joplin, Thievery Corporation, Quantic, Quantic Soul Orchestra, Kruder & Dorfmeister, Fila Brazillia, Blue States, Bonobo, Peace Orchestra, Nightmares on Wax and on and on and on......

My most memorable experiences on this wonderful journey called life have been sitting inside the Kings burial chamber of the Great Pyramid at Giza. & being in the presence of the Dalai Lama.

To date my greatest personal achievements have climbing the Great Pyramid at Giza (I have a fear of heights!) and flying a plane (and I still have a fear of heights ubblol) I'm hoping that one day perhaps a parachute jump with rid me of this phobia once & for all.

Next personal ambition is to climb (only part of) Mount Everest's north face in Tibet where hopefully I will be at then end of this year smile

Phew..... Have I written that much already....? eek that sounds like just about enough waffle from me, there's some cider & mead in the fridge, cheese & onion crisps aplenty so help yerselves & pull up a bean bag, but don't attempt to light up any spl*ff in here without sharing it with me, ok? biggrin hug

peace

edit: started spinning in August '03, not September. silly me rolleyes

sorry to hog your intro, but if you do this - please say hi to my father for me - he is buried there on the north face. I need to go sometime soon myself...

vanize, i only know 2 other people who've made it through the whole book. it took me about 7 years!!! honestly, i stopped and started so many times.....

then a friend gave me a really good piece of advice: just read it cover to cover and don't stop to think about whether it's actually making any sense or not. just persist. then when you're finished go back and start again. you'll enjoy it the second time round. it's definitely tolkien's greatest work

wow! do you know if he made it to the summit?

i've been fascinated with everest since i was a little girl. it's been a life's dream to go there. there's no way i'd have the strength or experience or the $20,000 needed for an attempt at the summit, but just to climb part of the mountain will be enough for me ubblove

well, as I understand it, the $20,000 isn't neccisary for an attempt at the summit - only if you make it. but perhaps the rules have changed in the last ten years.

dad never made it to the top. came down with severe HAPE at 22,000 feet at advance base camp, died on the way back down (around 18,000) and is buried near where he expired. there is a stone for him down at the 17,000 base camp though that his fellow climbers put there a couple years later (expenses paid by the Guinness family actually, which is odd now that I think about it with you being in Dublin and all))

Fab, I have enough fuel for all of us and then some...hint, hint, nudge nudge.

I have made all the appropriate sacrifices to the fire gods, they have assured me that the rain gods are getting the concrete boots for the weekend....
