I bought a pair about 2 and a half weeks ago. I was just trying to see if anybody else owned a pair???

If you dont know what powerisers are: they are stilts about 1 foot high with a flat fibreglass spring. they allow you to jump up to 5/6 foot in the air. Honest!

Holy censored ....... I'm dangerous enough in flip flops let alone bouncy doodie thingamyjigs! (doodie thingamyjigs is another technical term I might one day explain to you, when drunk, probably) How do you not fall splat on your face?

Lol... they aren't too high so if/when you fall its not too bad. (you tend to fall when learning to walk and you cant jump when learning to walk)

You work your way up to bigger jumps. I can just jump 5 feet and run at the mo. after crimbo i getting the use of a trampoline harness. that should help with the face splat situation. biggrin

i've not seen them on blue peter my self wink but they could be. they slightly resemble the sprung prosthetic limbs some athletes use. Here's a link to a review site that has pics.

they're not the things that were on blue peter, because i remember that too, but looks like they do a pretty similar thing, albeit more dangerously. the blue peter ones has a bit more surface area for landing on methinks... They look great, i wanna fall splat on my face!! biggrin

I've got the falling and getting up to a tee. Lots of practice on grass helped. I used the 'risers for a week with no safety gear, was fine, when i bought the gear (knee pads, helmet and wrist guards) i managed to fall on my first run. Ironic huh?

Cody, does your advice come from 'riser use or are u just a normal stilt walker???

It comes from ex-gymnast -saved-my-butt-on-many-occasions. biggrin Just good advice in general. Falling wrong from normal standing height can cause compound fractures, increasing height makes really ugly things possible.
I'm not a cronic stilter yet, but I will be when I can afford to. I want a pair of velocity stilts. There reengineered powerisers or powerskips. There the ones used in Cirque du soleil, but there $2,500.00 a pair, there at www.stiltwerks.com Enjoy and destroy your powerisers and when your ready for an upgrade, go for the velocity stilts. wink

If you havn't used any of the jump stilts before, I'd suggest not going for the velocity stilts. Get a pair that are more affordable and see how you like them. Then once you know what your doing and need more responce from your stilts, go for the velocity stilts.
It's kind of like a spring board with lots of springs. It's realy tough to get a bounce out of them unless you know how to use it right.

The powerisers and powerskips are more or less the same as each other. The main difference in cost is due to difference in cost of manufacture in korea compared with germany. I've not used the velocity stilts but am told they are lighter so will allow you to do more with greater ease, almost the same as a trampoline.

I'd recommend the powerisers, cheaper than the powerskips and i have found that i can do most of the stuff i want(run, jump...) and i've seen ppl on powerisers doing flips.

If you're interseted in performing then i'd probs recommend the velocitys because they are lighter and so would make stage use easier. But i assumed you just wanted them for fun. wink

The Velocity Stilts are between $1,600.00 and $2,300.00
(difference in pricing is in which components you choose)
When we tested these stilts for the military, we were able to sustain a speed
of 22 MPH. While playing basketball with the Harlem globe trotters we were
able to jump up and sit in a 10 foot basketball hoop.

Some of our talent are working on skills like double front flips.

hey, everyone, new here. I was just searching around the net looking for new ideas for building some new stilts, and came across this thread. I sell power risers as well. www.creaturecrates.com and an interesting note to those of you that already own them, I build halloween costumes around them! Sorry to jump in and promote myself, but I just thought you all might find some of the costumes interesting, and the pricing of the stilts to be much more competative. Thank you for your time!

Didnt see this thread!

Got some powerisers about a month or 2 ago, they are great fun, once youve masterd "walking/running" learn jumps.

They are more difficult than you think to get "good" height, you really have to use your body with them, transfering as much weight as possible through the stilt and also timing the jump of your legs with the spring of the riser.

We found a bar in a kiddies playgroud (used for climbing) it helped alot because as i was practicing, the higher my jumps got the more likley i was to lean forward and fall over - the bar is there to help build the confidence to really load the risers before you launch.....

Saying that - dont listen to my advise as ive just cracked my rib from falling over!

ubblol

Doesnt stop them from being SWEEEET though biggrin

Hi everyone, I am new to the site cos I just got a pair of powerisers last week.
They are wicked - it took about 3 min to learn to walk and I can already do some decent jumps and high-speed running.

Is there anyone selling these in the U.K cos I got mine shipped from abroad which was pretty expensive and all my friends are looking for pairs now they see how cool they are????????
