well, since i'm not the only one wondering, i'm going to take the lead biggrin

my name is that because i'm very much like a cat, and i do quite literally pounce, physically and metaphorically. i surprise a lot of people, because i tend to look all small and sweet and innocent, and then they get to see my spunkiness. that and i give my special pounce hugs biggrin

and the avatar....well, i'm quite famous for my piercings and whatnot, and i think my tongue is just that cool. so i had to choose an avatar that represented me well biggrin

so who's next? i wanna know about people's names and avatars!

some of you familiar w/the Boston region may know the restaurant Fire and Ice...well that's NOT where i got it from

i used to/sometimes still ice skate, and i still teach ice skating to those who want to learn wink so anyway, i decided to combine the two, and the N separates one from the other...interesting side note, the skating club prez at my school is trying to find a rink where they'd let me spin fire on ice...it'd be for lack of a better word, WICKED

the avatar is a pic of me and my good friend leliel doing corkscrews while we were trying to think of cool doubles moves to keep interest. It was taken during a shoot by a pro photographer..not quite sure why, but it was one of the first pieces i got..:D

My name is combo of my first and last name. I had a history teacher in 7th grade (the boys baseball coach actually) who gave it to me. During roll call each day, he would call most of the students by their last name. He called me by my first as well as one other person. Well, one day he slipped, and out came Spritie. The whole class laughed. The next day, and every day after for that year, he called me spritie during roll call. The class just accepted that. I also had him for history the next year. On the first day of class, during roll call, I was spritie. I like it, so I didn't mind at all.

The avatar is me spinning on the beach a few weeks ago.

My name originally came from the estate where I live, which is known as "the bird sanctuary" because all the raods are named after types of bird!

It got shortened to Bird after a while - less of a mouthful! The avatar is the logo for the Pontiac Firebird, which I think combines the two main interests in my life!

My name comes from the master craftsman, genius, and jeweller to the Russian Imperial court of Tzar Alexander lll & Nicholas ll.

I've always dabbled in jewellery making and Fabergé's work has been a huge inspiration to me. I also collect eggs, not real ones, just decorative eggs made from stone, glass, wood, metal etc, I have literally hundreds of them from all over the world scattered throughout the house.

My prestent avatar is Fabergé's seal, I plan on changing it soon though when I get a half-decent firey pic biggrin

Initially I wanted to spell Fabergé with the Cyrillic alphabet but when I do it just turns out as: ФАБЕРЖЕ

My mind not only wanders, it sometimes leaves completely smile

Hehehe... and you have some pretty funky eggs smile

Apart from the sheer obvious aspect of mine, the idea was to make people think more about the grace and balance (poise) needed to be a dancer (and the dancing is what this is all about, eh?!).
That's not to say I am either graceful or even balanced, but maybe one day smile

The pic is of me firedancing outside Milk nightclub in Belfast. I like that it came out as nearly a perfect circle (well, more like an 'e')... though I have to stop looking so serious every time I dance with fire ubblolxx

SO SO SORRY!!!

.....anyway...umm...(gets back on chair)....ah....my avatar i found on the net i wanted to find a moving fire and i found this funky ikkle pic and thought it could be cool...so here it is.

my name came from when i was a member of the 'programming' club at school. *ducks from people throwing tomatoes*. Yes, i was, and to an extent still am, a geek. anyway, the programming part is in commas cos all we did was play network games of quake. i wanted to call myself 'man im good', as a bit of a joke, given that i was what the other guys referred to as fragbait or something, but, alas, it didnt fit. so it got shortened. and, being a year 8 geek, alternating capitals were THE coolest thing ever. and i like it, so ive kept it.

I have also been referred to as 'holden', 'holdenboy' or some derivative of that, because ford and holden are the two main car manufacturers in aust, and fiercly divide most of the population. hence, i got called holden a lot at cadets, which predominantly uses the last name.

So it had to be parafinfairy. The lovely stongbow pic came from Durbs. I have no idea how to work a computer and funnily enough he thought that pic would be a fitting one for me. 'Cause I'm here I guess I'll give'er a go, too, though the story behind my name is fairly uninteresting...

A few years ago I joined an online role-playing guild (*grins sheepishly*) for Anne McCaffery's Dragonriders of Pern series and, as I have absolutely no imagination at all, I looked about the room when trying to come up with a good name. The calendar caught my eye -- November -- and *poof* Nove I was. After two years in the same guild, when half the people on my MSN list still call me Nove, it's just natural to be called Nove on everything else internety, too.

Avatar? Part of the a cover of one of A. McCaffery's books...

"But I don't want to go among mad people," Alice remarked.
"Oh, you can't help that," said the Cat: "we're all mad here. I'm mad. You're mad."
"How do you know I'm mad?" said Alice.
"You must be," said the Cat, "or you wouldn't have come here."

well, the fee fairy came about becasue i had a pair of evil fair wings, they were black and red, and someone said, 'hey, fee fairy wings, they suit you' so that was it!

The fee bit comes about because its short for my first name: Fiona.

i haven't got an avatar, i don't think, i can't see any from here!!

I got the name Lightning at Burning Man. It's because I have a costume that has EL glow-wire attached to it. When I wear it, I look like walking lightning. I also liked the name because I love thunderstorms and think that lightning is one of nature's most beautiful displays.

The avatar comes from this page. I don't think it needs much more explanation. I like it because it's simple and because when you see that avatar on the site, you know exactly who it is.

It's a good name. Two syllables, easily recognizable and rememberable, and yet unique. I'm very glad I came up with it.

Only problem is that I can't use it as a handle on most websites/boards/messenger services because some punk has always nabbed it first. That's why I use the name "MikeGinny," which is based on my first and last names. "MikeGinny" is actually my login-name for this site and it's the name I used for my first six or seven months on the site before I gradually switched it over.

which I really liked so I tried to do a slightly largher animated gif of him with flickering flames (turned out quite cool) but when I came to compress it I screwed it up so it was unrecogniseable frown.
Then I just searched the web for a little flamey thing and found an 'OXIDISING' warning symbol which I thought was quite cool, and did the same thing with the rippling flames.
I quite like it smile
Bet you're glad you know that!
