I have been playing around with the idea of multiple stick twirling, and last night for the first time, lit up 4 sticks at once : )
I have been doing this by taking two staffs in each hand and forming a cross with the sticks. Then treating the sticks as if they were duals and doing the standard dual figure of eights and corkscrews etc. Does anyone have any cool ideas or tricks to do with more than 2 sticks?

I saw a guy that did collects and multiplex style throws with 4 sticks, twas impressive.

I reckon juggling them all in wall plane in a 4-ball cascade would look nice.

As for three..A wall plane reverse cascade would be easy-ish and then incoporate turns and stuff.

These are things I want to learn soon smile

wow Eveish,
eight burning wicks sounds fun -at least to watch from a safe distance that is eek
Good luck and may the god(s) of twirling protect you...

Never tried using 4, but with 3 you can muck about with a cross (the kind where the top stick is balanced on the bottom) in one hand, and a stick in the other. Spin them all the same way horzooontly and try placing the cross on top of the other stick so that of the three sticks the top and bottom are facing the same way and the middle one is 90o askew. You can then take off the top one and hence make the cross change hands. There are also lots of ways to to this where you just transfer the top stick and the others stay in your hands.

Have some other doodlings, but they are more contacty and might not apply if you are using matchsticks.

Happy playing ubbrollsmile

Using them as devil sticks would be cool. Two staffs in each hand knocking other two staffs around!!! I can't devil stick but this must be possible.

you wouldn't have much freedom, aside from the basic moves, would you?

From my (limited) experience there isn't much at all you can do with cross-double without passing, aside from lots and lots of throws. Hell, I can't even do that much with crosses WITH passing :P.

Klayman - I have found that all the moves for duals are possible with four. plus you can get some groovy side spins going that make the flaming ends look like they are strobe lights: ) There is freedom, its just all in the imagination as to what you want to do with them.

I would love to see someone do a four staff cascade! I have been trying, and failing so far, but I am determined, I will succeed!

it could be pretty but not quite yet. thank you for the compliment anyway. Me and Tommi did the 4 staff shower flash (meaning 4 shower throws from your right and catch them with your left hand) (and that´s why we both got thrown in the pool) and i practiced the much easier 4 staff fountain which is both hands throwing 2 staves. give me 3 months and i´m performing it... but yeah, no 4 staff cascade just to be precise.

for 3 staves............ try the reverse cascade/cascade/reverse cascade (after throwing to the other hand spinning direction changes) or the shower or the 4-2 which is throwing two in one while spinning a staff in the other hand. from which you can go to cascade all spinning the same direction..

............faster and less control..........

argh, too much juggling techy speak for my liking juggle
it looked lovely and to be quite honest I don't really know what a cascade is. It just seemed to be the word I wanted at the time.

surely the reason you and Tommi were thrown in the pool was because you were both being slack? tongue

...once more with feeling if you don't mind... oh, and [censored] up less biggrin

see you next week

No he did get chucked in the pool for doing something impressive... But since he only got chucked in once, the rest of the time, he must have been being slack.

Antti and Knoxious have converted me to short double staffs. I feel dirty.

hmmmm tricky.
Even throwing them would be a challenge. I mean, up to five, in a five piece cascade maybe.... six..... argh!!! I would love to see that : )
maybe they hold them like in the two-stave cross only with three in each hand??

then I shall bravely place my belly one more into that chocolatey fray

this time however try to be more enthusiastic about the licking it off again tongue

7? really? or are you just toying with us?

I'm sure the cascade back cross reference would make that suggestion all the more impressive and unlikely if I understood but as it is all I can remember of Mr. Burrage's educational piece is penguinpenguinpenguinpenguin

now could you do that with manymany staffs?

and about 4... i got 8 throws and 7½ catches of the 4 staff fountain today... if only i could find somebody to throw me in the pool when i nail that missing ½ catch.
