Yeah, my pants! smile Actaully just a small spot on my pants. It felt warm, and looked down and thought "uh oh, now what?" but just then it went out.
Yeah. So we had this great party last night, and I got to burn two more times (not enought equipment or space, so my friends and I had to share both). Yesss! I felt way more confident and comfortable, and many people complimented me on improved grace. I try to be a humble child, but....
HEEHEEHEEHEE. A little hyper now, even just thinking about it...! ubbloco devil
Have you learnt anything new recently? That's my new question I ask everyone now, because I'm in a rut moves-wise, and have tired of mine... frown

Thats great, I love getting stuff thru the mail; my comet pois came a week before I thought they would too.

I haven't really leant anything since the reverse 5 beat weave, I've just been experimenting with what I can do BTB, just simple stuff like the butterfly, I can't understand how you're supposed to do a weave BTB - it doesn't work!!!

What have you been learning?

Tuh! I know! BTB stuff totally eludes me. Butterfly may be possible, though. ubbidea
Hmm. Yesterday I was playing around with simple things (my brain can't seem to come up with big new patterns..) like a bit under the leg stuff. I found this weird thing by accident: you swing the poi under your leg and let it wrap around your other arm..prolly looks pretty stupid! And it's most likely rather dangerous, too.. I almost can do under the legs butterfly!! So that's cool. I want to work on BF (butterfly) weave, which in my opinion doesn't look a thing like weave, but whatever..maybe I'm doing it wrong.
A move I really like the sound of is all the way around corkscrew. A friend of mine made up a variation of it he calls the "corkmill" but it's not quite the same.
Anyway.
My second signiture, you ask? Long story. ...Really?? Okay, you got it wink there are these books about a British teen girl that are written like a diary. They are SO hilarious, but possibly a little questionable. The girl is completely boy-crazy, and she has this..I don't know.. rating system on how boy-crazy she's feeling. It's called, unsurprisingly, the Horn. There's Particular Horn, where you focus on one person, General Horn where a lot of people look attractive, and Cosmic Horn, where you're rabid after everything that moves.
So there you go.... wink Heeehee.

An avatar....but how to find or make a cool one that works??? I'll work on it. smile

Of yeah, with the BTB BF, sorry, i meant BTH. BTL BF sounds cool tho, I'll have try that ubbidea

So what type of horn are you on at the mo? One question tho, does the horn go away when you get a boyfriend? ubblove

You wrote one thing tht annoys me, I'm not annoyed at you personnally cos all the Americans say it, but I hate it when you refer to anyone from England as British. You Americans are probably closer to being English than the Scotish, Welsh or Irish umm Sorry, but it's just something I felt I had to point out biggrin
Actually it's kinda like us calling the Brasilians 'Americans' simply cos they live in South America.

Your avatar is cool, how long did it take you to find one clap I know what you mean about it taking ages to work; I drew mine on 'Paint' and then found it was too big so I resized it but that made it look stupid so I had to redraw it...................etc until finally I got it working; the same with the pics in my gallery, took ages rolleyes

Does BTH mean behind the head..? Yeah, BTL BF is kinda weird and cool. And I could be wrong, but I might be one step closer to BTB weave because of all my practicing yesterday! Yesss smile

Oh, I'm sorry!! ooooops So how would you rather me address you? Thanks for setting me right. wink What a complicated world we live in..

Umm.... redface I just got over a bad bout of Cosmic Horn...It's in between General and Particular now...Haha, good question. Ya know, I don't have too much experiance in that field, but I'd guess it does sort of go away...that doesn't hold true for all my friends though! ubbtickled
It took me the better part of the morning yesterday to get my avatar the right size, etc. We took it with our digital camera and it was on the computer. I did want to draw one, but I can't get it to be a .gif or .jpg, so that's down the cosmic drain.. biggrin
So do you like to draw?

Don't worry about the the whole British/English thing, annoyed was probably the wrong word to use, I just pick up on these things bounce2

When you ask do I like to draw, do you mean generally or just on 'Paint' (hence the avatar)? confused
It can be quite fun when you're bored (which I am a lot) to mess around on Paint (drawing stickmen and such); but I do like normal drawing too, I'm not an artist or anything, but I like designing.

You mentioned a quad-corkscrew the other day and I had no idea what you meant, but then I figured it was kinda obvious ooooops so I learnt that. I have no idea what you meant when you were talking about a corkmill or windscrew or whatever confused I need some more poi-ers around my area to meet up with but I don't think there are any! mad

Yeah, but now I wanna know what's 'correct'! So you're English, Keenan over there [imaginary dude] is Irish and Tam MacBurger [another imaginary dude] is Scottish - am I right?? wink

I dunno - just draw...doodling on 'paint' is fun, but I guess I meant more 'regular drawing'...haha, I even confuse myself.. umm I love drawing - when I have inspiration that is..

Yes, 'quad corkscrew' is one of my favorites. Oops, I sure an being confusing these days..."corkmill" is a move made up by one friend and the name was coined by another...it starts out as quad corkscrew, then you do a back bend and turn it into windmill. Thus the combined name. I can't really do it though - partly because it doesn't work...
BUT! I can do a few rotations of BTB 2bt crossover! It's quite an accomplishment, since I've viewed BTB weave, like, forever, as completely and utterly impossible. JOY!! biggrin ubbrollsmile *7* beat weave on the other hand...

A 3 beat BTB weave, awsome, well done clap ubbrollsmile wow ubbrollsmile clap

I tryed just swinging one poi either side of me BTB, but either my back's too big or my arms are too short...or I'm too uncoordinated which is probably more likely footinmouth

Ireland isn't part of Britain, so when you say British you are only refering to English, Scottish and Welsh.

What do you like to draw? I spent the last year drawing designs for a toolbox for my DT A level and buildings for my Architecture portfolio.

Have you ever heard of a 7 beat weave, can you even understand how it works? I certainly can't eek

I'll give that corkmill a go weavesmiley I'll make it work (he says unconvincingly)

Oops, AGAIN... footinmouth Now my geography 'knowledge' is acting up.. redface

Drawing? I like animals (esp. horses) and people and various inanimate objects too. A toolbox? That's cool. You sound like more of a designer-drawer.

Yeah, I've heard of 7 beat weave mentioned before, but I have no earthly idea how one is supposed to do it...I can't even do 5 beat (finally decided my so-called 'extra-beat weave' is 4 beat..up till now I couldn't count past three.. haha). Can anyone out there do 7 beat?? HOW?

And mods or someone - when does my title supposedly change from 'stranger'? I'm up to nearly fifty posts but it's still the same. mad

I have no idea about the title thing, I'm up to 78 posts and am still the same as you. I tried typing what I wanted my title to be in some empty slots on the edit pages of your character but it didn't work confused I think someone mentioned when I first joined you have to have sent a certain number of posts (probably something like 100) then you can choose what you want tongue

Well! Finally it's dark - I'm gonna BURN.... devil

I've finally found some peeps (3) in my own county! YAY! bounce 2 of them are over half an hour away, but one of them lives in my own town. We're planning to meet up at some point which will be cool - swap moves and stuff.

Did you have fun burn? How often do you do it? devil

Yeah, I found out how to make a turban to cover my hair. All it takes is an 8' long piece of fabric and a few twists, and it works really well. I'm not going for the short, frazzled or black style... wink

Cool! It's great to have other people to bounce ideas off (not to mention tennis balls). Hope you guys (and gals?) have fun. smile

Yes, I had two nice burns last night. I was also trying out music, but both the songs I did flopped, so I just played around, and did a few things I hadn't done with fire before. Leg wraps, for example. biggrin MAN, those are soooo fun. How often? Ehh, I don't know...I burnt with a friend two days ago, again last night and tonight we (all my poi pals and I) have a fire party. That's a little more than usual, though.
Music, though, is annoying me now. I seem to be really picky about the type of song, and therefore I don't have much of a library of good tunes... mad How 'bout you? What kind of music do you like to spin to?

Music, that's a good idea. All my music is on my computer so it's easy to look thru, but I got about 4 1/2 thousand songs tho so it could take a while. If I find anyhting really good for swining to I'll let you know.

I don't burn that often really, I only do it for show and I don't have the opportunity that often, maybe I will do tho with my new bunch of poi-ers bounce

So when are you planning to meet up with your new poi pals?
I had the best time with my chums last night at our little fire gathering...only spun once, but it was an alright one. And two of my friends did staff too, which I hadn't seen before - pretty cool! devil
And one friend tried some boric acid on her wicks for a green flame, which was soo neat. bounce
Huh. Wish I had a bunch of music on my computer...I'm scouring for good music though in various places and I'm finding some I like. I really like foriegn stuff; the absolute best song I've found yet is an Arabic one. It's perfect: slow parts, pauses and faster parts. smile

We're meeting up today actually, I think there's just two of us cos the other two couldn't make it. It's just a day session today, but we'll do some fire another time grouphug

I'm learning some staff too cool I can do palm spins and some round the body tricks; I might get a fire staff at some point.

Cool cool How long have you been doing staff?
Somehow it doesn't interest me as much, but that's just me. And and a bit of advice: my friend made his fire staff for a third of the price of one from HoP. He bought 5 feet of kevlar and a shower curtain rod from a home improvement store. No cool grips, he said, but he made his own from foam or something. I held it - it's amazingly light and it's soo much cheaper, if you don't mind making it.

Awsome photo, it's a buzzsaw yeah? cool

I already made a staff from some thin UPVC pipe with half a tennis ball at each end and a lot of bright yellow insulation tape. It's pretty cool ubbloco I don't really do very much, just mess around, but I may get more serious.

The meet was cool, I learnt what an isolation was and learned how to do a BTB weave (it's really not that hard is it, it only took me a couple hours bounce ) I also came up with two combos based on the BTB weave! ubblol

Wow, good job at your meet! That's a lot to get accomplished in one session... I know, one move plus some, but it's better than I would have done.. So what is an isolation? I sort of have an idea - is it where the middle of the chain becomes the point of rotation? And can you do it? Yeah, the BTB weave was strangely not too hard...it took me 2 or three days of fiddling - would have taken much quicker had I really applied myself.. congrats though. It's a pretty impressive move, no? wink Can you explain your combos at all? If it takes too much time and energy though don't worry about it..poi moves are so wretched to try and explain...
Thanks on the photo..it's not the best ever; I'm going to work on getting some really fab ones! ubbloco

Making the centre of the chains the opint otf rotation is a 'Hyperloop', it looks pretty wierd, it's just a way of getting out of a tangle smoothly, if you weren't a poi person you probably wouldn't even notice it! So I don't think its even worth the time to learn it, its difficulty far outstrips its impressiveness. shrug

The two combos are actually pretty much the same thing but with different timings. They involve the pois always being on opposite sides of you, after they both go either side of you BTB you bring them round and infront of you to cross over agian within one swing. More specifically, the right poi never spends more than quarter of a swing on your right side, it's always on the left and visa-versa for the left poi. I hope you can make sense of that footinmouth

With the photo, you may want to crop the blank edges off and enlarge the part of the picture that has you on biggrin

The combos sound neat. I can *almost* picture them...
And thanks for the tip on the photo. I'll be sure to do that. And right back atcha: can you make your photos any bigger? They don't get much larger if you click on them, just the size of the thumbnail...just a suggestion. smile

I need a good inclusive query or something. angel
Okay, this took me forever to come up with and it's still not like ubbidea, but...

What's the worst injury you've recieved from your poi, fire or otherwise? The time where your hair burnt so badly you had to have it all cut off? That bruise that left you limping for days?
Or are you one of those lucky people that's never had a mishap? nana

This is the thread to tell all... weavesmiley

It is quite cool we've got this exclusive thread going, it's getting pretty huge now. But if you want to chat to other peeps too start some other threads in chat or discussion about whatever you want (e.g. injuries) excl (cos I don't think anyone else is gonna join this thread) wave

I forgot to tell you about the isolation last post: It's when you seperate the pois mid move; for example if you were doing a weave, when both pois are on one side of you, move your arms apart so they each do one circle next to each other (like the wheels on a bike) tongue
