Hey. How's it going? Remember us? No?

Well anyhoo, we're out here in the world doing exciting things, travelling around the HoPiverse meeting firey folks, having fun pointing at stuff and saying "ooh". All going well so far. Met many people and pointed at lots of things.

But today we discovered a teeny weeny glitch in our otherwise flawless plan - when we get to LA (19th July) We don't got nowhere to stay (eek I hear you say. and i add a eek to emphasis that). We're not overly sure what to do as obviously we can't afford to stay in any off them expensive hotelliry type places like what they have over there...

So anyway, we were thinking perhaps there might be a kindly HoPper or two out there in LA Land that could help us out with a comfy place - be it bed, sofa or stuff-filled-closet - that we could possibly stay in/upon then that would absolutely fantastic.

Pm either of us, reply here or email Fluffy and let us know.

Thanks in advance.

must rush (we have to go feed some horsies.)

I stayed in a fantasic hostel called The Backpacker's Paradise in LA. They give you free breakfast, free cookies and coffee, free transport to Venice beach, use of the pool etc and only cost $12-15 per night for a dorm room. As you go to exit from LAX you'll see a wall of hotel signs, the number should be on there. They'll pick you up free from the airport too.

Did I mention all the free stuff they do?

There is a slight possibility that I am not actually right all of the time.

Hello! biggrin

Happy Birthday! Hope you find a nice place to stay...

If you get bored you can always sing to yourself "Drinking in LA" by Bran Van 3000 (or is it 5000?) which always cheers people up (although seldom the singer)

a good point well made young Bugis.

We've had a minor change of plans BTW - due, in part, to an outbreak of disinterest from all you californian HoPpers. We're only going to be in LA for 2 nights now before flying back to the UK.

Dude, coming from someone who did 12 years in California...

What the hell were you thinking?

Get the hell out of LA as soon as possible. Save your souls.

You needed to be in San Fransisco. Pesky foreigners seems to confuse the two and they couldn't be more different.

Escape from LA my little fraggles. Run and don't look back. RUN!!!

Well, shall we go?
Yes, let's go.

Pity that. You just missed some amazing stuff. Theres a lot of cool things to see and do up and down the West coast, just not in LA.

Oh well, I guess you cant see and do everything, although Im surprised you didnt go to Burning Man... *shrugs* smile

Musashi, Josh and esp. NYC -

Although Cantus didn't spell it out quite so simply in the first post, we are STUCK in LA with NO OPTIONS of going AWAY from LA unless someone TAKES US. We have no money left and will just about manage to pay for two nights in a hostel so we don't have to do two 12 hour flights back to back. We had to go via LA. We don't want to go there either. I'm well aware that much of California is beautiful and much more pleasant etc... but we do not have the means to enjoy it. (Full stop./ Period depending on your location)

We didn't go to burningman because it would scare the sh1t out of me and we are on the other side of the world.

sorry for sounding cross. It's just that while we're not happay about it either, we have very little choice but to enjoy the last few days of our trip however we can.

I think we're going to the backpackers paradise place - loads of free stuff, even if it means we just go to the beach for the day and leave exploring the States til a very long time in the future......

smile

hope you found somewhere to stay....

We did indeed find a place to stay. We decided to go on the advice given by erm....somebody... to stay at the Backpacker's Paradise in Inglewood. It was a lovely place that gave us a 2 room suite replete with huge TV, hot and cold running sheets, fresh towels, automatic curtains and surly french restuarant staff.

Ooh and free champagne, cake, swimming pool, cake, cookies, coffee, bus trip to Venice Beach (gathering point of the ugliest people in LA) and surly bavarian desk clerks.

So that was nice.
