No wait.... Mags.

Sorry to say it...but I think thats not a good place.
Its even further away from pretty much everyone than Falmouth was, and some people travelled for hours to get there.
I think the extra distance could put a lot of people off.

shrug

But thats just my opinion. smile

Forgive me if I'm missing the irony....

Shouldn't be much more than Maen Porth - trains are the same going thru to Penzance as to Falmouth but it looks like about 10 miles to get to the site so taxi's might be expensive?

Driving isn't much further down the A30.....

It doesn't say how far the beach is and seems to indicate the beach is completely covered at high tide - would that prevent us having a beach fire?

Hey, Penwith is still further than falmouth and even for cornwall people it can be a long way. How about somewhere a bit more central in cornwall? I was thinking of Par Sands, it's up near St Austell and is about an hour east of falmouth and has a train station very close. It's also a really really nice, huge beach. Not sure about their policies about fire but will email them to find out.

Just got an email back from the people at Par Sands, their campsite isn't big enough to accommodate all us spinny peoples. I have a few other beaches in mind like Harlyn or Trevose, they're on the north coast, there are buses to nearby places. Will email the campsites. What dates are we going for? Weekend before BJC?

Yep. A friend of mine from Falmouth CircSoc is running the BJC, so we may be able to go and camp there before it all kicks off. I'm thinking from the friday of Easter bank holiday weekend onwards.

I'll contact the guy at Maenporth. He'll probly say no, but we can try.

The location needs to be: 1) In Cornwall 2) On a beach that allows fires; and 3) Near a friendly campsite.

Oh, and 4) Must be near public transport.

Other than that, I'm easier than Lionel Richie on his easiest of easy Sunday mornings.

Camping in Bodmin, yum yum. There isnt a beach near bodmin, the nearest is probably Carlyon bay which is crappy and has building work going on, next nearest would probably be Par Sands which is about a half hour drive, all of them will be around half an hours drive, maybe more, as Bodmin is right smack bang in the middle of the county. Falmouths are all about the beach without a beach itll be a Bodmin, eugh.

Suck up to the guy at Maenporth or give me his phone number and ill try and suck up to him. Thinking about it, we may have to charge a bit of an entry fee and pay the guy for use of his beach for the 3 days. It's not like we want to do that but the meets are getting huge now so a contribution was bound to happen sooner or later. frown

BJC and Fal5 will be completely different, but I enjoyed Bristol so much I reckoned it would be worth a look - no contest tho, it'll be Falmouth for me as long as there's a beach and a fire biggrin

I reckon BJC and Bristol are more different than BJC and Falmouth. Mainly because BJC is in a leisure centre and Bristol and Falmouth are in a field . . .

That's why i said it's *even* a long way for the cornwall people to go. Implying that it's a trek for pretty much everyone, even those who live in the same county.... umm

Saturday 18th Feb 2006

It's 5.55am. I'm lying in bed with several new and exciting burns on my arms, and i'm being aggressively head butted by a cat that does not belong to me. I spent the evening watching old episodes of Oz, despite the fact that i could have gone up the road and seen DJ Yoda (I had a ticket and everythin.) Couldn't be arsed tho, so i gave the ticket away.

About midnight i found out that there was a party nearby, so Joss and I headed down there, found a bit of courtyard and chucked some flames about. Ended up with a bunch of drummers (and bottle players, spoon players etc. - we have inventive percussionists down our way) battering out some sweet beats, and a good time was had by all.

Except for one thing.

Feckin firebreathers. They P*SS ME OFF!

"Lets have some of yer fuel mate."

"Just a mouthful."

"I won't burn myself, I've done it loads before"

"I'm a professional firebreather - I've done it five times"

And THEN, when I've said no every possible way including nice ("I'm sorry mate, I'm not doubting your ability...") and not-so-nice ("Ask me again and I'm gonna smack you in the mouth") the little feckers wait for us to turn around and try to nick the paraffin ANYWAY!

Grrrr, it makes me want to get all the firebreathers in the world and just KICKEMINNANUTS!!!

There, I feel better now.

Hope everyone's groovy.

Woke up about half 3. Made spliff and tea and lay in bed. Reclaimed internet cable from my housemate. Stayed in bed.

I'm still in bed, if anyone cares, or has anything inventive that i could do with my day.

It's cold and grey outside, so that's not a particularly attractive option.

Maybe i'll just take money of some dumb americans at poker...

Anyone? Please? I'm sooo bored.

I would say you could do something, but it's like 11pm now, so that's a bit silly.

You could waste hours of your time watching flash animations on t' web but it's a bit hit and miss.

You could pile up every single useless item of anything in the house then try to set fire to it. This might not work (or be recommended) if one of the items is, say, a freezer.

Maybe you could find a Spar that's open and get the ingredients for a cake. Then make the cake. Then (and the best part!) you get to EAT the cake! biggrin ubblol

There you go! 3 useless suggestions and only one of them involves fire! I'm proud of myself...

After much consideration, I find that the view is worth the asphyxiation.
